Inundated with PACs

Here a PAC, there a PAC….

Defeated candidate for GOP chairman, Lisa James, has formed a newly minted, third-incarnation, Arizona Majority PAC . She joins Len Munsil’s very Reaganesque PRO PAC.

How many stops can these gravy trains make before the funding sources run dry? They compete with legitimate organizations, such as pro-life groups, individual candidates and the party apparatus. Of course, the PACsters make a tidy sum, skimmed right off the top, which is a compelling start-up inducement.

Are they also attempting to make last January’s dire predictions of waning funds directed to the state GOP a reality? . Insiders say just the opposite is true.

  1. Bill says:

The PACsters appear to think the money will just keep rolling in. They have seen how well Sproul & Co. (operating mostly behind the scenes) have done. They count on various “constituencies” to keep the cash flow at a steady pace. These folks are not novices and this type of business venture has become an art form.

The Rembrandt is Sproul. Apprentice brush washers are the Chad Wllems types. Between them are a growing number of PACsters who believe this to be the up and coming way to personal wealth while delivering a message with appeal to the sheep. Munsil is traveling the state to appeal to his base. There were plenty (although not enough) who voted for him statewide. He invokes the image of Ronald Reagan and hopes wallets will fling open. If that doesn’t work, there are the pro-life people he cultivated while heading Center for Arizona Policy. He’s got a large family to support and no other visible revenue source. This isn’t rocket science.
