Fox News lists the ten top reasons for continued opposition to McCain within the conservative GOP base.
A number of Arizona Republicans might be able to enlarge upon this list without much prodding. Sonoran Alliance covers the Maricopa County Executive Guidance Committee meeting last night, where a McCain resolution was on the agenda.
Read the Fox News/AP listing of grievances here.

I just checked out that video on the Sonoran Alliance link. The McCain supporters were not in abundance in that CPAC crowd yesterday. Boos were clearly heard from the back of the room and look at the people who refused to stand when he was introduced.
For the record, these were the votes:
Vote was 17 opposed, 8 in favor, 2 absent, 1 abstention.

Pardon my gullibility, but some of these votes surprise the heck out of me. There are more than a couple I would have bet the farm would have voted differently. That might be why I have no farm!
Will wonders never cease?
Very tempting to give our “maverick” candidate a taste of his own solutions. Why bother electing him? You elect him and he works against you. Doing the same thing and expecting different results is the definition of insanity some say. While we’re at it, time for the grassroots to return the favor of nonsupport to the donations wing of the Party. My clipboard is retired for the duration of ’08, except for the employer sanctions initiatives I’ll continue to work on. Let’s all try on this famous maverick hat for ’08! I had convictions before I had a Party. I shudder to think what the ’08 GOP Platform will look like. Bet it won’t look like me. The Conservative’s longer range best friend just may be a D win this November. Where can I return surplus voter registration forms?
Aren’t there a number of these people who are either employed by the legislature, related to legislators, running for the legislature or have loose connections to the state GOP? Was the pressure too great to withstand?
Indeed there are Frank. Some are obvious, others are less so, since they have a bit of “cover.” The ones who shifted gears from their original vote assurances, had something promised or threatened. It’s truly pathetic. If they were afraid to vote, they should have abstained. No guts, no glory.
Why does this strike me as more than a bit similar to the endorsements of McCain by the AZ GOP National Committeeman Bruce Ash and Committeewoman Sharon Giese—made AFTER the state meeting, when they didn’t have to answer to many unhappy state committeemen? Those who say McCain is being force-fed to us have facts on their side.
Chairman Pullen submitted a statement in defense of McCain. A Party without a Platform isn’t a Party, it’s just a label. Many of our “dependable conservatives” are shunning their convictions in favor of the spotlight. Do those Minnesota tickets come with all the kool-aid you can drink? I understand Senator Clinton is the more conservative of the two and about tied with Hanoi John.

I fear we are being sold down the river without benefit of oars or a life raft. Many of us simply cannot tolerate the scheming and deceitful Shamnesty McCain.
The only reason left to vote McCain is judgeship appointments. Just what we need–the McCain-Pelosi approach to a Supreme Court.
