The strangest of bedfellows: Lisa James and Janet Napolitano
Although this article identified only one of the co-chairs of the group hosting the $250 a plate luncheon, 2008 Teaming Up for Kids, honoring Democrat Gov. Janet Napolitano, today’s daily social scene section clearly identifies the other as Lisa James.
That’s right, the same Lisa James who ran for Republican state chairman and lost to current GOP chair, Randy Pullen.
The pro-abortion Guv was honored for “her commitment to women and children in Arizona.”

I assumed this was a joke until I check the links. Would someone please explain to me why this self-described pro-life conservative, Lisa James, would chairing an event for a pro-abortion liberal Democrat?
March 24, 2008 at 1:14 pm
You must have forgotten that Lisa James chaired the Rudy Giuliani presidential campaign. He’s pro-abortion, also. Some people just want to be in the limelight. How they get there and what they stand for, if anything, has no bearing. Can you imagine this gal chairing the AZ Republican party?
I know Pullen just won by a slim margin, but God must have been looking over the state the day those ballots were counted.

It’s called opportunism. Her husband runs a political consulting and lobbying firm and she runs a PAC..
March 24, 2008 at 1:33 pm
That would be Gordon C. James Public Relations. They donated $10,000. to Pacheco’s employER amnesty ballot initiative known as Stop Illegal Hiring. This is their attempt at “fooling all of the people some of the time.” I agree, the Lord must have been looking after Arizona the day we counted the Pullen/James votes. YES on Legal Arizona Worker–Russell Pearce. NO on Stop Illegal Hiring–Pacheco, James, Sproul, Colonjello. Wow! Lisa James for Napolitano, where does it end?

She’s also a buddy of the political miscreant, Nathan Sproul. This chumming up to Napolitano shouldn’t surprise anyone who knows the lengths to which the James’ will go to influence public policy.
Mark AZ has a good recollection regarding employer sanctions. Thanks for the reminder.

Wasn’t it Len Munsil and the Republican Establishment who were pushing this darling as being soooo conservative and sooo pro-life? Give me a break. Will we ever wake up to their double-dealing ways?
And honoring Janet for her commitment to women and children? How about the Protective Child Services mess that they do their best to keep under wraps? How about doing everything she can to keep the abortion mills humming…slicing and dicing human babies. How about keeping abortion information from expectant mothers so they will not know the details of an abortion procedure? Yea Lisa, give Janet the Nobel Prize. She deserves it about as much as Al Gore.
Lisa, you are a real winner for the liberal cause. Congrats. I’m sure Planned Parenthood will soon recognize your achievements.

Some big chunks of this very strange puzzle don’t seem to fit. Does anyone have any information on what this is all about?
March 25, 2008 at 7:22 am
Lisa James has no core. She’s been on too many poltical payrolls to ever be considered credible. The views expressed in comments above about more than luck being on our side when she lost the state GOP chairmanship, are exactly right. Can you imagine if this gal was leading the party? A handful of votes were enough to save us.
March 25, 2008 at 8:41 am
I am at a loss trying to understand how a Republican operative, going to extremes to wrangle a state committeeman slot, and running for state chairman, could co-chair an event honoring Arizona’s liberal governor.
James declared her pro-life credentials at every turn at that time. Now she’s going all out to honor a pro-abortion leftie? I just don’t get it. There must be a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.

Amazing how well gleaned this post is, never mind the reality of the story! No one was raising money for the guv… in fact it was for private dollars to do the very thing conservatives say we should do. This was a fundraiser for Florence Crittenden, a charity that:
•has a charter school
•teaches teenage mothers how to parent
•helps girls who have been referred by CPS or the Courts
•helps girls who are exiting the foster care system (ie turning 18) with transitional housing–teaching them how to be productive members of our society–making sure they can budget, work, further their education
Lisa is one member of a committee and did not give the award, the organization did. While you are all throwing stones she is spending her time doing better things and actually walking the walk of a pro-life Christian woman. This thread reminds me of the scriptures where the “religious” folks condemned Jesus for eating with the sinners.
March 25, 2008 at 9:54 am
Ann: let’s not confuse the issues here. Lisa James co-chaired the event. The honoree was the pro-abortion, liberal Democrat governor. Florence Crittenden charities could have raised money with an honoree the co-chair could have been comfortable with–if, indeed Lisa James was uncomfortable with Napolitano. From all accounts, that was not the case. She certainly was grinning broadly in the photo that appeared in yesterday’s Arizona Republic.
Whether or not she personally gave the award, she was an integral part of this event. She has a voice, but obviously chose not to use it to protest this honoree. I have some personal experience with this type of scenario. Several years ago, I refused to continue to serve on a board that was intent on honoring a person with the same agenda as Napolitano. I had been a board member for quite a while, and it was difficult for me to speak up, but due to a true commitment to life, my choice was clear.
To use scripture and invoking Jesus dining with sinners to deodorize this foul association is outrageous. “Pro-life Christian women” do not honor those who condone (and in the case of the governor, veto pro-family and pro-life legislation) the slaughter of millions of innocent lives.
You, Ann, seem willing to say anything to make a point. No wonder you are an apologist for Lisa James.
March 25, 2008 at 10:09 am
Elizabeth,
No apologies are needed.
March 25, 2008 at 10:22 am
The selective anger over what and who is amazing. How quickly folks forgave a contribution to the Wish List because it served their purpose but when a woman commits countless hours in a very noble endeavor it is criticized as not pure enough. If the high and mighty ones feel so truly committed to the purity of all associations then how on earth is Randy Pullen exempt? Core values……?
Move on to a topic of true value beyond the empty “gotcha” moment. They are both, Randy & Lisa, doing good things and should be commended not continually brought into the fray of small minded individuals who cannot let go and move forward.
March 25, 2008 at 11:25 am
You and I are obviously on different planets, Ann. How does one “move on” from Lisa James CO-CHAIRING an event honoring a pro-abortion high ranking government official who has vetoed pro-life legislation? This is not a difference of opinion. It has nothing to do with Jesus dining with sinners, as you so shrewdly, but inartfully, tried to change the subject in your previous comment. This is all about being aware of the agenda and supporting it–with time, energy and money
Incidentally, celebrity Cheryl Teigs, who spoke at the event is known to be a big time supporter of Planned Parenthood and what she calls abortion “rights.”

An author named Ann Crittenden is also on this Planned Parenthood list. Do you think there may be a connection to the Florence Crittenden home which is the recipient of the $200,000 the 800 people who attended the luncheon paid to be charmed by pro-abortion enthusiasts.
Give me a break, Ann.
March 25, 2008 at 12:02 pm
Keep up the good work, Elizabeth. So far, according to my calculations, it’s 10 - 1, with the apologist dragging bottom in a vain search for justifications to explain the unexplainable.
March 25, 2008 at 1:59 pm
Elizabeth seems to have exhausted the seemingly endless supply of excuses Ann was being fed. Bravo!
March 25, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Seems to me pretty straight forward. If you were a truly committed pro-life advocate, who was to co-chair an event, whatever the great cause might be, and you discovered the event would honor the biggest pro-abortion advocate in the state, would you step out of the event or not. I certainly would. Appears to me Miss Lisa is not a strong pro-lifer. Reminds me of the Catholic Universities who honor pro-abortionists at commencement exercises. Those universities are not run by strong pro-life committed Catholics. That’s all we are saying Ann. Lisa is not what she purported to be.
March 25, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Let me get this straight. Lisa James raises money for a non-profit charity that is non-political. That charity honors Gov Napolitano. Apparently, Lisa has been involved with this charity for years, but because the charity found common ground with the Governor, we are willing to make Lisa a pro-abortion liberal.
If true, wouldn’t that make Russell Pearce and Jim Weiers pro-abortion liberals because they found common-ground with Governor Napolitano on employer sanctions.
Just wondering.
March 25, 2008 at 2:59 pm
I’ve just been reading these comments and wasn’t going to enter the fray. However, Jill begs for a reply.
What kind of logic is this? Elected legislators working on cranking out a necessary state budget with the elected governor, has exactly what to do with CO-chairing an event with a pro-abortion HONOREE. The celebrity speaker is also a big abortion advocate. Have you misplaced your sense of reason?
You are desperate to make a point, but flubbed this one big time. Surely you’ve heard of apples and oranges? This is a textbook example.
March 25, 2008 at 3:31 pm
The point I was making was relatively simple. And, in fact, was comparing apples to apples.
Here it is in more simple language. Just because two people come together to support something with which they both agree, doesn’t make them allies on every other issue. The Florence Crittenton charity appears to be a noble cause. If the cancer foundation honored Napolitano, would it make someone pro-abortion for helping the cancer foundation?
I just wish there was 1% of this outrage toward Democrats. It seems like some of you insist on eating our own.
March 25, 2008 at 4:20 pm
Jill:
Seems you went up the hill with Jack one too many times. (Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after. ) You’re using ‘logic’ that sounds as though it came after a head injury sustained when you went to “fetch a pail of water.”
