SAVE Act steamrolled by McCain
U.S. Rep. Heath Shuler says he believes Republican presidential candidate John McCain blocked his immigration enforcement bill, keeping it from getting a vote on the U.S. House floor. McCain’s staff denies it.
Shuler, a North Carolina Democrat, said the Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE) enjoyed Republican support until the McCain forces steamrolled it.
Townhall’s Amanda Carpenter gives some interesting insights. Her column is available here.
McCain’s National Director of Hispanic Outreach is immigration extremist Juan Hernandez, who is committed to the concept that we simply share a “region” with Mexico and there is no need for borders. This dangerous and foolish idea was woven throughout McCain’s recent foreign policy speech.
Even McCain’s most staunch defenders should have a problem with this unholy alliance.

I would be very interested to hear from McCain’s staunch supporters regarding mccain’s association with Juan Hernandez and regarding McCain’s phrase “we must be open to being persuaded BY them.” Let’s see now…….there was a Horst something or other that described himself as a staunch McCain supporter. What is the explanation for mccain’s WEAK border security positions?

I do have a”big problem” with this… McCain needs to get rid of Juan Hernandez before I’ll even be able to consider voting for him in November…

That’s too of us. Hernandez as McCain’s advisor is a great concern. He is a committed open borders advocate and obviously is influencing McCain. We are left with no choices. What a sorry mess. I blame a lot of it on Huckabee, and his underhanded ridiculing of Romney, plus staying in the race far too long to help himself, but insuring a win for McCain—AND a cabinet post for himself. Huckabee is the snake who set this all in motion.

Without a doubt, I believe Rep. Shuler. McCain’s views on this topic are well known.
It’s very clear to me by his speeches, actions and open border appointees, he intends to bring about the destruction of this country. I am so sick of hearing about his hero status. He stopped being a hero long ago, when he began advocating on behalf of an invasion of this nation, ultimately placing us in a third-world position. The average illegal coming across our southern border does not even have a high school education in their native Mexico or Central American homelands.
Legal immigration is one thing. Illegals are criminals with NO regard for our nation, its laws or history.

How about the OTM’s-Other Than Mexicans? The Border Patrol has detained thousands of Middle Easterners, Chinese, Koreans, Russians and those from other countries not friendly to Western democracies—most notably the United States of America. Open borders are national suicide in these post 9/11 times. How foolish are we? So many today have the retention of a gnat and the discernment of Michael Moore. Very sad, since our country is at risk. Look at the three liberals currently running for the presidency. How we got in this awful ix is beyond me.

Democrat Rep. Heath Shuler introduces the SAVE Act, a courageous act by Shuler. To defeat the obstruction sure to be brought on by his own party’s Speaker of the House. Rep. Shuler takes the Discharge Petition method to get this great immigration enforcement bill to a vote of the whole house. 49 House Dems. sign on to it and 99 Republicans sign on to it. Bipartisan common sense. No gridlock from The Republican House Members. McAmnesty, could you stay a little further away from Congess for awhile please! We’ve enjoyed your absence so much, don’t mess it up handing out bad advice to House Members. Rep. Shuler for President!
Rep. Shadegg and Rep. Flake last week appeared on the NumbersUSA website as having already signed the Discharge Petition. Tonight, they do not appear on the “already signed” list. Last week I got a one and a half page letter rom Sen. Kyl’s office telling me all he is doing to get a real fence on the border. Juan Kyl & McAmnesty, of course, are not signed on to the Senate version of the SAVE Act.
Unfortunately, my kids heard mccaint’s speech yesterday. Now my kids tell me I must be prepared to be persuaded by THEM.

Trust McCain? Not a chance! His foreign relations speech the other day put the icing on that cake for me. Did you know we live in “The Americas?”

I support McCain by default, but the alliance with Hernandez that you mention is troubling to say the least.
March 29, 2008 at 11:53 pm
He heard us. He learned. Enforcement first. He’s not signed on to the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is bipartisan enforcement first. mccain Lied Again. Kyl is not signed on to the SAVE Act either. Arizona’s Senators are mice not men. They will not okay enforcement of The United States borders unless it includes amnesty.

Len Munsil informs us in today’s Viewpoints that conservatives should not hold the dead and buried amnesty bill against mccain. Mr. Munsil omits neither kyl nor mcamnesty are signed on to the SAVE Act, the very much alive and well border security bill.

There is no other area in our lives where we would believe an inveterate liar with a twenty five year consistent record of telling us one thing and doing another. We wouldn’t accept it from our children, our employees, our stock brokers, our mates.
Why does this despicable person who has broken his word of honor (?) with his wife, his Party and his country have any standing for our trust.
Vote for him if you must as the lesser of evils, but know that he lied, he is lying and he will continue to lie. Don’t fool yourself by believing that he will change his base character. The “I” in McCain does not stand for integrity.

“Record-Keeping for Internet Service Providers (HB 2498-Representative Bob Robson): Requires Internet service providers to keep records for two years for law enforcement purposes.”
I found this bill supported by the Center For Arizona Policy. CAP does not support the employer sanctions bill or any other bills to eliminate incentives to illegal aliens. If CAP gets all worked up over Internet Service Providers record keeping, what’s keeping them from encouraging American family friendly immigration enforcement legislation? The kind of legislation that reduces rape and murder and death by exposure on the Arizona desert.

Alan:
It’s a fact that many of the faith based organizations (such as CAP) are loathe to support strong sanctions against illegals. They seem to feel it is “ungodly” or “lacking in compassion.” Our compassion should be directed at our own LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.
What these people need to remember is that nations are not nations without intact borders. There were distinct nations even during biblical times, and the laws of those nations were to be obeyed. Reread the passage in Matthew 22:21 which states: “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s, and unto God the things that are God’s.” It seems pretty straightforward.
I take it to mean that we must obey the laws of the land. Without a doubt, the illegals are not doing that.

Had Enough, I agree with all. Churches thinking they are acting compassionately towards illegal immigrants in our community have the effect of causing additional rape and death in the border regions. Compassion and Political Corectness actually cause extra death, misery and suffering.
The goal of The Minutemen is to be permanently put out of business! Solve border security so we can spend those weekends and those resources enjoying the great things Arizona offers. We don’t want to be Minutemen. We want there to be no need for Minutemen. Secure the border for the sake of National Security and humanity. Churches, your “compassion” is killing people.
