Federal authorities defend Arpaio’s patrols

High-ranking federal immigration officials have defended Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s recent crime patrols, refuting accusations that Arpaio is conducting immigration raids concealed as crime sweeps.

The officials made their remarks as 38 new officers at five Arizona law-enforcement agencies were sworn in to enforce federal immigration laws. The federally trained officers staff the Phoenix Police Department, the Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Pima, Pinal and Yavapai county sheriff’s offices. With more than 200 trained officers and jail officials, Arizona has the most of any state in nation.

I have heard it said that if Arpaio wanted to run for governor in the next election, he could win hands down as an independent candidate, over any objections of the local branch of the Republican Party and Democrat opposition.

I agree, RA. However, that’s not likely to happen. Besides, we need him where he is. Sheriff Arpaio and County Attorney, Andrew Thomas, work together on behalf of the citizens of the county.

Thomas is decades younger, very bright and on the same page as the sheriff. Maybe he will consider running. Someone of character needs to rout Sanctuary City Phil Gordon.

How cool is this? Politicians that keep their promises!
