Arizona cities among top for auto theft
Phoenix/Mesa/Scottsdale and Tucson once again make the unenviable list of the national Top Twenty auto theft trouble spots. Tucson retained its number 10 title for the second year in a row.
The greater Phoenix metro area comes in at number 8. Holding the unenviable first place title is Modesto, California. Four of the top 10 U.S. cities for vehicle theft in 2007 were in California.
Western states, with greater proximity to the Mexican border, hold the top numbers.
Check out the 2007 Insurance Information Institute stats here.
Then be sure to lock your car, place valuables in the trunk, park within close proximity to your destination so the vehicle is clearly visible, use a locking steering wheel immobilization device, have a LoJack electronic vehicle tracking and recovery system installed ….and pray.

Are we supposed to be shocked by these numbers? We live adjacent to the Mexican border. These “good people coming to do the jobs Americans refuse to do,” are just taking up the slack left by law abiding Americans who refuse to engage in auto theft.
Who doesn’t get that?

Mexican ‘chop-shops’ are a big business. Your car could be heisted and never seen in one piece again. It’s worth more as parts.

Of course, Mexifornia tops the list.
A fine book to read is actually titled, Mexifornia, by renown author, Victor Davis Hansen.
It tells what has happened to California and what the rest of the southwestern states can expect.
