Piling on Arpaio
The daily has long held Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in contempt, going after him repeatedly for his no-nonsense approach to illegal immigration enforcement. News articles, columnists and editorials have habitually condemned his patrols, reconstructing the language of one article to fill the column inches of another.
Today the assault continues. In a headline that cites “critics claims,” the old becomes new once again.
Then columnist Robert Robb swoops in, as upon carrion, with his piece titled, Joe’s worthless sweeps. (The title has been changed in the web edition. The newspaper’s title is as noted)
Oddly, the usually reasoned Libertarian Robb appears unable to articulate a cohesive opinion. Swaying erratically on the topic, he credits the sheriff with effectively cross-training a significant sector of his officers to enforce federal immigration laws, while stating he is not making a dent in the numbers of illegal aliens in the valley and accusing him of ethnic profiling.
In January, the newspaper did a full-blown article on hard-line illegal proponent and protest organizer, Salvador Reza, titled, A man of the (indigenous) people, Reza fights for Native rights. A four-column by 8-inch bandana-wrapped head shot of the pony-tailed Reza accompanied the glowing piece of the man who has incited raucous demonstrations outside a family-owned furniture business where illegals congregated and impeded traffic to the store.
Reza, a Reconquista, owns a work center catering to illegal laborers. He describes them “not as illegal immigrants, but migrants returning to their ancestral homeland.” Reconquistas, it should be noted, believe in erasing American’s borders, claiming the southwest United States is land that belongs to, and should be reclaimed, by Mexico.

Did IQs suddenly drop while I’ve been away or what? “Native” rights? “Indigenous people”? Reza and the Reprehensible desparately need a history course on Spanish occupation of the Southwest US and the multiple reasons for its failure.

Agreed, RA. Welome back! I aways enjoy your thoughtful comments.
The very important aspect of this is the biased slant of the AZ Republic. They act with impunity hammering Arpaio on a nearly daily basis—and are bringing in every left-wing nut group from the ACLU and other whiners to discredit this fine sheriff. The paper is for open borders and amnesty for illegals.
That’s why I keep coming back to this site. It is reasonable, but doesn’t pull any punches on illegals and the importance of maintaining a sovereign America, with enforceable borders. Reagan said it best: “A country without borders is not a country.” (I think I remembered that quote accurately)

The biggest disappointment was Robert Robb. He must be getting worried about losing his forum and the supplemental income. I’ve always thought he presented a well thought out viewpoint, even if I didn’t always agree. This time, touting the company line, he left me shaking my head in bewilderment. I think he’s getting massive infusions of liberal bacteria at the company water cooler.

Best recommendation: watch the Michelle Malkin video. It’s very informative.

I think Sheriff Arpaio is a hero!

The circulation and advertising dollar numbers for the Rag continue to tank. They are SO out of touch with their readers as to be laughable. I look forward to the day when this paper closes down completely. But before that, maybe some illegal journalists will have the opportunity to take over the Robb and Montini columns. After all, they will work cheaper and, as “indigenous people”, will have a greater right to voice their opinions.

Hey, it turns out he was “educated” in California. That explains so much…
