McCain backer Brenda Sperduti co-chairs Dem Guv’s gala

Those McCain folks just can’t seem to figure out which party they belong to–or why

You might recall the name Brenda Sperduti. If your memory bank has more important matters taking up space, a quick refresher is available here.

Sperduti was on John McCain’s hand-picked slate in his home district, as an important state convention delegate. His slate tanked.

Brenda, an elected Republican precinct committeeman in Royal Palm precinct, gained notoriety as a Republican for Janet during the last gubernatorial election. At the time, there was a well-qualified GOP candidate in the race.

The Republicans for Janet site has been taken down, but the names remain available at AZ Conservative, where Dennis Durband thoughtfully copied and retained the list.

Today Sperduti has landed on what is left of the society page in the daily with a cheery photo and this gem announcing her as co-chair of the governor’s gala:

A record-breaking 900 Arizona art lovers descended on the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa on Wednesday for the 27th annual Governor’s Arts Awards. The event celebrated the rich diversity of Arizona’s arts and cultural treasures.
The rest of the tidbit is here.

Just found these words on her bio: “As a moderate, my political vision is to get more moderates into office, regardless of party. Partisan politics halts progress. We cannot afford to let this constant struggle over power to diminish our position as the leader of the free world.
The future of humanity depends on us.”

Makes me wonder what attracted her to becoming an elected Republican precinct committeeman. By her own admission, she surely has no party loyalty. Seems to me she wanted to harm the AZ GOP internal party structure.

  2. Ron Says:

How interesting! Do these McCain people understand what political parties stand for and what their platforms state? They are not even close to having the same core beliefs. She certainly sounds like a product of today’s liberal public educational system.

  3. Justin Says:

Did you read who she considers her mentor? Carolyn Allen. “Nuff said.

  4. Gimlet Says:

I wonder why she didn’t just become a Dem? Of course an out-of-the-closet democrat couldn’t support the liberal Mr. McCain. And she couldn’t gum up the republican works nearly as easily.

  5. Gary Says:

This woman is a classic, textbook liberal. Read that bio linked under her name. She has no core values at all. She would have been a perfect McCain delegate. Too bad his slate didn’t survive. What a cryin’ shame.

  6. Maggie Says:

What a McGal! Is she typical of McCain’s supporters?

  7. Kim Says:

    Maggie:
Are you kidding? O course she’s typical. McCain is a RINO.

  8. RA Says:

    Her initials say it all.

  9. Fascist Nation Says:

If McCain makes me laugh and just shake my head in disbelief any further it may fall off.

  10. Mr. Conservative Says:

Great, another wine & cheese Republican!!! Liberals…

  11. Kate Says:

And we conservatives are suppose to be so excited by the McCain leadership traits of integrity & character. If Brenda and her band of Napolitano supporters are what we can expect to inhabit McCain’s campaign, count this conservative gone. Thank you, SEEING RED, for your integrity and character. If McCain had but an ounce of the same. Thank you, Brenda, for telling and showing us what you represent and what is to be expected from McCain’s people.

  12. Sideliner Says:

This speaks volumes about the McCain crowd. This woman, who obviously holds no allegiance to the Republican party, was a member of the McCain slate in his own home district.

Their slate at the state convention is being called the “Unity Slate.” So much for unity, folks. Thanks for outting this double-crosser. The only reason someone like Brenda Sperduti would involve herself in the AZ GOP is to create havoc within the ranks. What gets me is that she ran and was elected as a Republican precinct committeeman and she was a hand picked McCain delegate.

What a revelation. Thanks for this. I never would have gotten this information in my district. I am also an elected PC.

  13. John Q. Public Says:

This is about as bizarre as anything I have seen in the state during this election cycle. I would like someone to give me a reasonable explanation for this woman’s involvementin my Republican party. I’m serious. If anyone knows her or what is going on here, I’d very much like to know.

  14. Charlie Conservative Says:

What is going on here is standard operating procedure coming from the McCain directed organization. The conservatives in congress are well aware of McCain’s treachery and have stated so publicly. His actions on the Amnesty legislation typifies what can be expected from him. He will work mostly with liberals to get what he wants since what he wants would be an anathema to conservatives. He will lie about his motives and try his best to ram whatever he wants through, not allowing any opposition.

He is now micro-managing in the District, County and State with the heavy-handed SOP he has always used (Look at what just happened at the Nevada State Convention, covered in previous Seeing Red article on April 27). Just look at the personalities and political leanings of his operatives and people in his organization and you will get an idea of what a McCain administration will look like. McCain’s tent is so big, it includes the Democrat Party. McCain’s ideology is centered around “ME”. Integrity & character do not come into play with McCain supporters. Hypocrisy is their byword. Sperduti’s comments reflect this. Party platform and Republican ideology mean nothing to her so she feels comfortable in any camp just so long as her liberal idea of government is continually advanced. That is the McCain ideal, squishes he can easily manipulate.

  15. John Q. Public Says:

Thanks, Charlie. That fills in the blanks very nicely. Appreciate you taking the time.

  16. Virginia Says:

I think this is shameful. Is there a process to remove her as a Republican PC?

  17. MesaMax Says:

Does anybody know who the Arizona GOP National Delegate candidates are? I mean except, of course, the McCain campaign? Do we invest a day May 10th showing up to cast a vote for qualifying Arizonan’s who have put their name forth as a National Delegate candidate? Or, are we taking a day out of our life to simply provide the formality of choosing from the McCain camp’s pre-approved list of available selections? That is, are potential conservative National Delegate candidates made to feel as welcome to run for National Delegate as the RINO crowd is? Or, are conservatives subtly uninvited to run for National Delegate?

  18. Main Stream Sam Says:

Get over it. The only thing worse than an extreme religious fanatic is an extreme conservative political fanatic. But this is America, thank God.

  19. Joe Evans Says:

    Sam:
Your friend, Brenda, is free to be whatever she wants. The question is, why would she represent herself as a Republican when she is clearly so much more comfortable with Democrats? Get over what? She has misrepresented herself to the party—NOT the other way around.

And as an aside, you sound like just the guy to answer this: Why have liberals abandoned that perfectly descriptive word and have now begun calling themselves “progressives?” They all sound like insurance salemen.
