Newsweek outs McCain’s choice to manage national convention

Vetting the company we keep

This current Newsweek magazine article has created enough swirl around lobbyist and McCain insider, Doug Goodyear, that the man tapped by the GOP presumptive nominee to run the September Minneapolis/St. Paul convention, stepped down after the story broke. Goodyear’s tenure was short lived.

Obviously, Team McCain had good reasons for concern.

  1. Joe Evans Says:

What arrogance. Surely Goodyear knew he was a liability to the campaign. Is this an example of the type of operatives involved in this endeavor? They need to consider hiring some of the local sycophants who will work for less and have no real connections, international or otherwise, that could betray the candidate.

  2. Vince Says:

Well, Goodyear might be a hot potato now, but he’d be a great cabinet member!

  3. RA Says:

This is a tempest in a teapot in comparison to McCain’s wholly indefensible positions on immigration and environmental policy. Read Michelle Malkin today on McCain’s chairmanship of environment-related committees, if you want your blood pressure to spike.
Goodyear’s firing really amounts to dotting “i”s and crossing “t”s for the liberals McCain is running for.
