Supervisors approve slight increase in county budget
Pro-illegal alien proponents who oppose the neighborhood crime suppression efforts of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, engaged in a loud and unruly demonstration at the Board of Supervisors auditorium yesterday. The intimidation techniques of the newly formed group, Maricopa Citizens for Safety and Accountability, were intended to apply pressure on the supervisors, with the expectation of curtailing law enforcement funding to the sheriff’s office.
Ultimately, the approach was unsuccessful as the Supervisors unanimously approved a $2.4 billion county budget, up slightly from this year. The overall budget reflects $42.2 million in cuts for county departments–including the Sheriff’s Office–as well as another $56 million to non-departmental budgets.
Sheriff Arpaio vowed he will continue to enforce “all of the laws of this land” despite the criticism. The protest and ongoing political controversies over his immigration sweeps can be placed on the collusion among Democrat open borders advocates including Gov. Janet Napolitano, Phoenix Mayor Phil Gordon and Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox. Yesterday’s demonstration was organized by former state legislator and Spanish language radio talk show host, Alfredo Gutierrez, who was covered on valley newscasts crudely disparaging Sheriff Arpaio.
Arpaio thanked the four Republican supervisors–who stood at one point to indicate their support - “I’m the sheriff and I decide on the policies of this office and I’ll continue to do so,” he said.
The daily gave coverage to the Sheriff’s supporters with this–the last line of the article:
A small group of Arpaio supporters spoke in his favor and Anna Gaines was among them: “I support . . . the sheriff 100 percent,” she said.
The Republic reporters conveniently neglected to identify Anna Gaines as Hispanic and a spokesperson for the group You Don’t Speak for Me, as they threw her in as an afterthought at the bottom of the report.

My mother is Mexican. That fact doesn’t keep me from supporting Sheriff Arpaio. I wish him continued success. Being of Mexican descent doesn’t mean we support illegal border crossers breaking our laws. I am a proud American citizen first and foremost.

Who would have guessed that the AZ Republic would skew the coverage on a story about illegal aliens and their advocates? It makes perfect sense. Seeing Red AZ got it right the other day when you wrote about ‘Agendaville.’

This coverage by the Republic is so typical. Of course they would attempt to marginalize Anna Gaines. She is Hispanic, articulate, well versed in her subkect and doesm’t take the liberal guff dished out by the media and the pro-illegal crowd.
She is obviously NOT who they want to give ink to.

Coverage by all was typical!!!!
Head lines should have been “Pro Illegal Aliens groups physically REMOVED” or Hispanic groups show there true colors”! or Mary Rose Wilcox INCITES NEAR RIOT”
(these groups knew about this meeting before it was on their site)
I can’t understand WHY the press just refuse to report the news and not slant it!

From the snippets I heard over the radio, this group is typical of what we have come to expect from the open borders crowd: loud, obnoxious, confrontational. I am still amazed that these people think they can sway anyone with these tactics. They are continuing to make those of us against illegal immigration and the invasion of our country KNOW that we are in the right.

I only know what I read on the Truth Blogs such as SEEING RED. I cancelled my subscription to the fish wrapper long ago. I see they have gone down in circulation once again. Couldn’t happen to a more deserving piece of garbage.

Go, go, Arpaio!!!
Thanks to Seeing Red for (finally) using the word “collusion” when discussing the opposition to Arpaio, and telling it like it is.
My suspicion is that the Repulsive didn’t even bother to check out Anna Gaines. It is truly the kind of paper that doesn’t want the facts to get in the way of their stories. My guess is they did a “sound check” - “Hmmm… doesn’t SOUND Hispanic…”
