Gov. Napolitano: Let’s put our money where your mouth is

State contracts larger than $50,000 put on hold

Faced with growing fears about the economy and a darkening fiscal picture for state government, Gov. Janet Napolitano vowed to freeze all state contracts larger than $50,000….” is the opening gambit from the daily newspaper’s above-the-fold article today, regarding the state’s continuing budget woes.

Yet in spite of a bi-partisan supported state hiring freeze in March, underscoring continuing revenue shortfalls amid unprecedented economic downturns, Napolitano had no problem hiring a Mexican border advisor.

Just days ago, Seeing Red AZ exposed the addition of former Douglas Mayor Ray Borane to the governor’s staff as “policy adviser for border and immigration issues.” His vantage point is distinctly one of open borders. Borane has long been an outspoken critic of implementation of security measures, saying they “ignore the interconnectedness of the U.S. and Mexican communities.”

Borane is her very own Juan Hernandez.  (Click on the short video featuring Michelle Malkin interviewing Hernandez.)

Borane‘s $40,000 salary for providing this unconscionable service, must fly under the budgetary limit radar.

It has us Seeing Red.

I hope this is seen and acted upon by legislative leadership. As a citizen taxpayer, I can tell you I am furious!!

  2. Sam Says:

Thanks for using the word “unconscionable.” That sums this hire up damn well.

This is an excellent example of the type of recklessness exhibited by Janet Napolitano, who thinks she above reproach and is Queen of the World. For many reason, I pray Obama doesn’t win. However, if he does, expect her to vamoose to DC in a New York minute and leave us with a similar leftie to succeed her in the governor’s office. The state and the country will both be doomed. I’m no McCain fan, but it’s clear we have no choice but to vote for him. God help us either way.

  4. James Says:

Watching the Malkin/Hernandez video it disgusts me to think of McCain sitting across the table from this bandito in a mutual pity party, planning the next big amnesty push.

All I can say is “Watch out Arizona, uhh, I mean America!!!”

It seems that we are in a no-win situation — either way, Americans get trampled by illegals…..

Mistake #1: We voted her into office — we nominated them for President.

Mistake #2: We did not kick her out. They are still on the ballot.

Mistake #3: We have not learned anything from our past mistakes.

    The cycle continues…..

I’m calling the governor’s office and my state legislators about this first thing in the morning. I want this guy OUT! Why is someone with this agenda getting one thin dime of our money — anytime — but especially now?

  7. RA Says:

Ah yes, Napolitano, the poster child for fiscal responsibility.
