Today’s Zogby Tracking polls show Republican John McCain has pulled back within the margin of error. The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama 48% to 47% in Friday, one day, polling. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all, according to the report.
And from Pollster John Zogby:
“Is McCain making a move? The three-day average holds steady, but McCain outpolled Obama today, 48% to 47%. He is beginning to cut into Obama’s lead among independents, is now leading among blue collar voters, has strengthened his lead among investors and among men, and is walloping Obama among NASCAR voters. Joe the Plumber may get his license after all. “Obama’s lead among women declined, and it looks like it is occurring because McCain is solidifying the support of conservative women, which is something we saw last time McCain picked up in the polls. If McCain has a good day tomorrow, we will eliminate Obama’s good day three days ago, and we could really see some tightening in this rolling average. But for now, hold on.”

The trick would be to pull free in the next few days. We can only hope.

This is the tightest race in my memory. Truthfully, I don’t like either one of them, but Obama frightens me, while McCain just makes me mad. In making my choice it was an easy call: anger won over fear.
A conservative Republican friend who feels similarly said he was voting for the Democrat (McCain) instead of the Socialist (Obama). If McCain wins, which I now hope, he should not take it as a mandate. Many of us are still furious over his immigration travesty.

Marianne, we will NOT give up on the amnesty issue no matter if the Socialist OR the RINO gets in. Of course, with B.O. we’ll be hamstrung by an ultra left Supreme Court who will likely not only slap down any attempts by state and local governments to curtail illegal immigration, but will grant all kinds of “rights” to illegals. Keeping B.O. out of the White House is paramount to our freedoms and our sovereignty- and it won’t hurt to demoralize the Dems either.

SherriAZ, how could the Supreme Court become “ultraleft” under Obama. There are four conservative justices: all of them are very young except Scalia, who looks healthy enough (I’ve shaken hands with him, so I will tell you he looks great in person) to last at least the next decade. Kennedy is a moderate conservative and is somewhat older but in good health.
The justices who will probably leave are the liberals: Stevens is quite old, having been appointed by Ford in 1975, and Ginsburg is old and not in good health (cancer). The rumor is that Souter wants badly to resign and return home to New Hampshire, and Breyer is kind of old too.
It is hard to see how the court could get much more liberal than it already is unless, SherriAZ, you are wishing harm to one of the conservative justices – for which you should be reported to the FBI!

OOOOOO- I’m SO scared of you!

Possible scenario: Ginsburg and Stevens step down due to health reasons. Two appointees for B.O., ultra left picks., probably ACLU lawyers, who will be on the court for 30-40 years or more. Now the court is 4-4 and Kennedy the swing vote.
Kennedy resigns due to age, health reasons, the responsibility of the position, or one of the conservatives leaves for health or other reasons. Now B.O. appoints another left wingnut and the court shifts to 5-4- for the next 30-40 years. Worse yet, two of the justices could resign for health reasons and then we’d have a 6-3 split with three justices who would INTERPRET the Constitution and six who would CREATE laws.
Could this happen? Absolutely. Will it happen? We can only pray that it doesn’t and that, if B.O. does get in, we can contain him to only 4 years and then get him out of the White House.
Go here to see a fictionalized, but possible version of what could happen under an Obama presidency.
