In a front page article in today’s Valley & State section, the daily newspaper devotes three pictures and a jump page to protestors angry about the passage of ballot propositions here and elsewhere enshrining traditional marriage. The measure passed in Arizona by a wide margin of 56.3% to 43.7%.
According to the article, the demonstrators are part of a larger protest taking place in cities across the country.
The same-sex marriage proponents make their fallacious case that theirs is a civil rights issue and declare that they are victims of discrimination. Yet they and their agreeable cohorts at the Arizona Republic apparently see nothing wrong with demonizing the perspective of the LDS (Mormon) Church toward marriage. Resentment for the religion was evident, as many participants held signs denouncing the church, which is but one of many faiths supporting traditional marriage.
Prior to the election over 800 Arizona pastors representing various faiths met to rally support for the measure. Various denominations spoke out, including the Catholic Church. Bishops Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix and Gerald Kicanas of Tucson issued a pastoral statement in support of the measure. Bishop Olmsted referred to the “definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman” a “non-negotiable” issue.
In 2000, Californians adopted Proposition 22 to protect traditional marriage. But in May 2008, the California Supreme Court redefined marriage to include same-sex couples, necessitating the recently passed Proposition 8.
Just two days ago, Seeing Red AZ wrote about the renewed efforts by the Arizona Republic to move their agenda through incrementally. And within days of the passage of Prop. 102, this rally took place.
The homosexual agenda demands acceptance yet they deny it to those with whom they disagree. The people have spoken in favor of traditional marriage in Arizona and California with the votes they cast last week. They join states across the nation voting by overwhelming margins to protect the definition of marriage.
Arizona’s protest was led by Out the Vote organizer, Annie Loyd, who momentarily was a District 3 congressional candidate, before deciding to stick with the issues encompassing promotion of homosexuality.

I’ve seen it time and time again, no one is less tolerant than a liberal.

Well said, RA, and Dennis Prager agrees with us. He frequently makes that comment on his talk show. He’ll find out how intolerant they are, when they force the “UNFairness Doctrine” through in short order next year.
More “verbal engineering precedes social engineering” warnings. Check out this link to see how some are attempting to counteract it.

The photo on the front of Section B in the Republic depicts two men who are identified as “Carlos Aguilar and his boyfriend Mike Chesworth,” staring intently into one another’s eyes with arms around each other’s shoulders. So sweet.
Carlos is holding a sign that reads:
Legislating
Discrimination
Stinks
Not so sweet. In fact, it infuriated me. Even more so because the Arizona Republic gave this front and center attention.
Notice the first letters of each word? LDS. On Carlos’ sign they are bold and underlined to make his anti-Mormon point and the newspaper gives this their blessing. I am not a member of the Mormon faith, but this attitude from people who claim to be oppressed, while defaming others is beyond any reasonableness. Tomorrow morning I finally cancel my subscription to this joke of a newspaper. I’m embarrassed to have waited so long.

Well, I AM a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I am as offended as I can be that a newspaper would stray so far from journalistic impartiality and print something this provocative. What a far cry from the standards we should be able to expect from a large city newspaper. I have to admit the thought of the Republic’s demise doesn’t sadden me.

Excellent point, RA!

The gays are WAY over the line on this and it will backfire on them as people across America are fed up with their tantrums. Had they won, they would have expected the opposing side to slink away quietly while they continued their assault on traditional values and kept up the indoctrination of children to the “normalcy” of the gay lifestyle.
Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of their fight to recast society in their image and put their sexuality on display.
