Carrying signs, saying “Support Law and Order” and “We Love Sheriff Joe,” a crowd of demonstrators showed up in Sun City West this morning to show their support for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
R.H. Johnson Recreation Center was the site of the event, at which Sen. Jack Harper and Rep. Judy Burges, both representing District 4 where the event was held, voiced their support of the sheriff. Rep. Carl Seel (R-Dist. 6) was in attendance as was Chris Simcox, a candidate for U.S. Senate. Anna Gaines, an outspoken supporter of Sheriff Arpaio, also attended the rally.
Current Maricopa GOP Chairman Rob Haney and immediate past county chairman, Tom Husband were also at the event. Lyle Tuttle former Maricopa County chairman and the current chair of LD 4 served as today’s host and moderator.
Aiming his comments at his detractors, Sheriff Arpaio said, “This is a free country and anyone can demonstrate. However, my adversaries are wasting their time. They will not intimidate me in order to make me stop enforcing the illegal immigration laws. The congressional hearings and U. S. Justice Department investigations are serving elected local officers such as the mayor and council members. You are the people I work for,“ he told the appreciative crowd.
Sheriff Arpaio noted that his opponents, among them the leaders of ACORN and Rev. Al Sharpton, are “all Democrats.”
Not one to back away from confrontation, Arpaio will later today meet the pro-illegal, open border protestors who are staging a march from the Wells Fargo building where his office is located, to the sheriff’s Tent City jail — which Arpaio said is currently the home of 250 illegal aliens doing time for state crimes.
UPDATE:
The daily newspaper gave this biased report on today’s events.
This is the paper’s coverage of the pro-illegal immigration rally, featuring Zack de la Rocha, formerly of the alternative rock band Rage Against the Machine:
The event was ginned up by Hispanic radio station Radio Campesina. The station manager is none other than Phoenix District 7 City Councilman Michael Nowakowski.
Connect the dots.

My wife and I drove across town to attend the Arpaio event in Sun City West. His supporters are enthusiastic. We need to have these events in the East Valley and other locations around the city and county. He has repeatedly won reelection by wide margins because the people respect his efforts on their behalf and support him overwhelmingly.

God Bless Sheriff Joe, and C.A. Andy Thomas “who has his back”, as Joe states frequently. Great duo that is there to protect us for at least 4 years.

Mega dittos, Alice. You are so right about Sheriff Joe. Lord knows how much we need him and Andy Thomas with J-No and BHO at the helm.
Joe and Andy are two rare politicians who actually follow through with the promises they made in the campaigns!

Interesting how phony borders gadfly Chris Simcox is making the rounds pimping support for his run against Sen McCain.
Simcox of Minuteman Civil Defense Corps fame bilked thousands out of donations to build a fictitious border fence. He ran MCDC into the ground, deceived stalwart members, and mismanaged his national popularity to the point where all he can do with his life is stoop to becoming a politician.
With friends like these. Arpaio doesn’t need any enemies.

Wow Crackle! You show a little tiny bit of knowledge in the wrong hands can certainly backfire. Obviouisly Simcox is over his target, McCain, to be drawing this kind of flack. So glad to see that!
Chris Simcox woke up an entire nation to our dangerously porous border. Nobody denies that. There are thousands of Minutemen on duty, right now, who are proud to stand with Simcox against your “bilked donations” charge. Simcox promised and delivered a more secure border. MCDC is not “ran into the ground,” but is very much alive, well, active and effective. Make a phone call to the U.S. Border Patrol and ask them who their greatest ally is. Rank and file BP will be only too glad to trumpet the in-field assistance they receive from MCDC. I was on the line just two weeks ago when we intercepted 10 illegal aliens specifically due to MCDC cooperation with Border Patrol.
You call building a national reputation as a stalwart conservative defender of American sovereignty “mismanaging a national reputation?” You have issues Crackle, but obviously you do not act on them. Instead of criticizing the men in the arena, I challenge you to get your “fat Meghan McCain” out of your easy chair and put your eyeballs on the border.
Learn about your topic before you start spouting the leftist/McCain dogma.
Stooping to become a politician? You don’t think much of Lincoln, Washington, Adams, Henry, Boone, and our great conservative AZ legislative delegation, do you?
Politics isn’t a lowly profession at all. It’s when jerks like you decide to run for office that politics gets a bad name.
Yep, Simcox is over the target. McNasty’s minions are coming out in force now. Fantastic!

“Pimping,” Crackle? If that’s what your idea of campaigning is, no wonder you think politics is an ignoble pursuit.
When you say, “stooping to become a politician,” it makes it clear to me you are a Democrat and are simply describing what you have been exposed to. Sorry, dude, but there is another type of person out there. Head over to a GOP district meeting, the AZ GOP or a campaign office and you’ll meet plenty of them.

Sorry to disappoint you once again Crackle. I use my real name because I have nothing to hide. I’ve met Simcox because I too am in the arena fighting for a sovereign America.
There are ex-Minuteman, ex-Republicans, ex-Democrats, you name it. Building a volunteer army of patriot citizens is going to include dissenters for slights real and imagined. You are putting words in the mouths of others to make the claims you make. We have a man of honor and good character to oust McCain and that’s Simcox as thousands of Minutemen nationwide will attest to.
What’s your particular problem? Did you attend a border muster and expect to get paid for it? Whatever it is, get over it or go ahead and champion the re-election of Juan McAmnesty. The ex-Minuteman issue is a non-issue. Heck, I’m an ex-Catholic. Is that an indictment of the Pope?

Ricky Lujan, I questioned the church for awhile when discouraged with the socialist leanings. Glad I stayed because I feel now that I get a Two-fer. My conservative efforts benefit both the Republican party and the Catholic church, who are both attacked from without and within by the socialists. How they would love for us to get so discouraged that we leave, and leave the Church and Party to them. Not on my watch.

Ricky,
I am a Minuteman, also, but for health reasons unable to serve on the border; so THANK YOU for your service in doing more to keep us safe then most of our AZ Delegation members. The great exception is Rep. Trent Franks, who has done a good job lately backing up Sheriff Joe.

Yes, folks, and we will have Yeoman’s work next election (if we actually get another legal/honest election in this country)to protect Frank’s seat and win back J.D.’s CD 5 and Rinsi’s CD 1. Start saving your “Grants” and “Franklins”, Conservatives! Those are now million dollar races. Sweikert and Hays lacked the money to counteract the Democrat Party lying ads against them. We can’t allow a repeat in 2010.

The Sunday edition of the Tribune had an interesting photo above the caption, “Thousands protest sheriff’s immigration policies”. One protester carried a sign that read, “We are indigenous people! Not Illegals! This is our continent”. This sign, and I would wager that it was not the only one of this type at the protest, indicates the real agenda of many of the open border crowd: Reconquista movements to take over the Southwest of the United States.
Amazingly the DHS has included Mexican separatist groups on the Domestic Terrorist list. Equally amazing is that members of the movement are continuing to use these signs so that Americans can become aware of their true agenda. Let us hope that more Americans wise up to what is really going on within these pro-illegal groups. It’s not all about jobs for people seeking a “better life”.

I live in VA but have kept up with the Sheriff Arpaio for many years. He is a very interesting man and runs his jail like one should be run. Jails should not be a place that is better than home! It should be a place that when a person gets out they should say “man I NEVER want to go back to that place!”
Sheriff Arpaio is the kind of law enforcement this country needs…wish there were MANY more like him.
I think that the Minutemen group is a great help to the Border Patrol. I once worked at FLETC, a training center for Federal Law Enforcement, and met many of the officers that were there. I don’t envy the BP officers as theirs is a very difficult job as well as all law enforcement.

Thank God for Sheriff Joe Arpaio and God Bless Him for all he does to protect not only his state but his country, unlike the weasels in Washington D.C. I fully stand behind him and I wish we had someone like him here in Ohio. It’s people like Sheriff Arpaio we need to run this country. Not afraid to take on the many thugs not only in our country but others as well. It is amazing how many politicians are intimidated by him because they realize he is very well respected and is doing the right thing. As far as Al Sharpton and Acorn, they have enough on their plates to defend themselves in the many controversies facing them.
