Church bells have a friend in Alliance Defense Fund

Alliance Defense Fund attorneys have filed a lawsuit in federal court against the city of Phoenix on behalf of three churches, alleging that a noise ordinance prohibiting the ringing of their bells is unconstitutional.

St. Mark Roman Catholic Parish, First Christian Church, and Christ the King Liturgical Charismatic Church have challenged the vague noise ordinance because it offers an exemption for ice cream trucks but not for churches. Christ the King Church joined in the lawsuit after its pastor, Bishop Rick Painter, was sentenced  for violating a city ordinance for ringing his church’s bells.

City Court Judge Laura Metcalf sentenced Bishop Painter to a disproportionate sentence of 10 days in jail (suspended) and three years probation.

How fortunate we are to have this outstanding organization based here in the Valley.

This is another attempt by the anti-religious left to silence believers. In this particular case, they went too far, although they had the support of Judge Metcalf. Are city court judges on the ballot? For some reason, I don’t recall seeing them. Does anyone know? She needs a permanent vacation.
