Dems block fundamental census question impacting congressional representation

Purely political motives are the driving force behind the senate Democrats vote to block a requirement that next year’s census forms ask respondents whether they are U.S. citizens. The politically lopsided senate ensured the 60-39 procedural vote, making the issue ineligible for attachment to a bill funding the census.

The proposal by Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter was aimed at excluding illegal aliens from the crucial population totals that are used to calculate the number of congressional representatives for each state. Vitter’s state of Louisiana stands to lose one of its seven congressional seats.

Democrats disingenuously argued that the plan would be too expensive and also said that it’s long been settled law that the apportionment of congressional seats is determined by the number of people in each state, regardless of citizenship status. And if that doesn’t convince you, they added that Vitter’s proposal is “immoral and divisive.”

Hey, it’s only American congressional representation! Let’s get those illegals in line for this. Maybe John Shadegg, Jeff Flake and the McKyl twins can round them up for the census takers to count. These guys are all onboard with amnesty, guest workers, etc. This should be right up their alley!! BTW, in this economy, could one of these “representatives” (they sure as hell don’t represent me!)explain the need to import workers? I’m all ears, guys. Give it a try.

  2. Rambling Rose Says:

The census is critically important in this regard. In fact all it is supposed to be is a headcount for congressional representation. Over the years it has become an intrusive information machine, asking how many bathrooms you have, your marital status, languages spoken in the home, the number of automobiles, infirm people being carried for at home, your race, religion and income levels, among many other personal questions. This is especially true with the “long form.” I follow Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann’s advice and just answer the headcount portion. The rest of it is none of the government’s business. The constitution is very clear about the reason for census taking.

  3. Kenny Jacobs Says:

Clearly, the Vitter bill was immoral and divisive, much like his patronage of hookers.

  4. Stanford Says:

KJ: How did you respond to Bill Clinton’s numerous dalliances — at least one of which was with a young woman his daughter‘s age? I’ll bet you were among the ones who called it a “private matter.”

  5. Kenny Jacobs Says:

Is your 1990’s reference the best you can do, Stanford? How about Larry Craig? What about John Ensign? One more time, a “family-values” Republican bought time with HOOKERS. Hookers. Vitter should not be in the Senate.

  6. Doc Says:

KJ is without sin…therefore he is allowed to cast the stone.

Is it the date of the offense or the offense itself that grabs you, Kenneth? (Kenny is sooo déclassé for anyone over 6 or 7)
Regardless of the decade, your Democrat icon Sen. Teddy Kennedy and his soiree at Chappaquiddick in which young aide Mary Jo Kopechne died while he swam to safety, should count if you’re speaking of REAL sex crimes.

How about Democrat Rep. Barney Frank? His “partner” (what a nice coy term for his intimate pal) who ran a homosexual prostitution service from Frank’s townhouse? Two lone House Democrats voted to censure him.

Former NY Democrat Rep. Fred Richmond was the New York Democrat, arrested for soliciting sex from a 16-year-old.

Arkansas Democrat Congressman Wilbur Mills had a dalliance with stripper Fanne Foxe that found them both drunk and in the Tidal Basin in DC.

Former Rep. Wayne Hays. The late Ohio Democrat hired self-admitted unqualified secretary Elizabeth Ray to provide him with sex.

Democrat Former Rep. Gerry Studds, after a congressional censure for sexual relationships with underage male pages, the foolishly liberal Massachusetts voters rewarded him with 12 more years in office.

And as he was leaving office, your buddy Bill Clinton pardoned Democrat former Rep. Mel Reynolds who was convicted of 12 counts of sexual assault with a 16-year-old. Bill probably gave him an “atta boy!”

The list goes on. And I haven’t even begun to touch on the larceny and sordid financial crimes your sainted Democrats engage in.

  8. Doc Says:

Git ‘im, Maggie! Whatta knucklehead this KJ guy! Gerry “Studds” got popped for sex with Male Pages?!?!?! PAGES…PLURAL?!?!? The guy’s name was really Studds? That’s too much! AND He’s from Barney Frank land! Oh my Lord! That’s too much!

However, you forgot to mention former Presidential Candidate John Edwards! Whatta’ D O P E ! ! ! “My wife’s got breast cancer…think I’ll go out & get some “strange”. Now that’s a class act if I ever saw one. I’ve made some HUGE blunders in my life, & “a Saint I ain’t!”…but this guy sure did make me feel better.

  9. Maggie Says:

John Edwards! Doc, you’re brilliant! Thanks for the reminder. I’ve always thought this was one of the best videos I’ve ever watched:
