McCain: Understudies take starring role as senior actor stumbles

John McCain’s political fortunes have taken a decided nosedive which has not escaped the notice of the Washington Post.  The newspaper notes that in his response to the forceful challenge by conservative J.D. Hayworth, the wounded McCain is relying on newbie second-stringers to prop up his sagging re-election campaign. Just a few months ago, Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) was unknown to most Americans.  Now his illuminating star power was potent enough to have him brought in to Arizona to bolster the lackluster McCampaign. And this past week, his former Vice Presidential pick, Sarah Palin, also a relative unknown to most party regulars before being selected for the 2008 GOP second spot, was touring the state to give him support.

How the once mighty have fallen.

Challenger J.D. Hayworth is now running nearly neck-in-neck, separated by a mere 7-point spread, with the nearly three-decade long Washington insider.

There are only 3 days left in J.D.‘s Million Dollar March. Help send a clear message to the Washington establishment by donating whatever you can to his campaign. He’s almost there and your help will make all the difference. Please donate here today.

I think it’s hilarious that the Grand Poopah is calling in second-stringers to pull his ass out of the fire. As pointed out here, these two are what are often consider instant hits, also known as flashes in the pan. Scott Brown will no doubt politically outlive Palin, but they are both serving as “useful idiots” for McCain.

After the way McCain, his family and staff treated her, she should have told him she’d be busy washing her hair. My thought is that she’s using him as much as he’s using her, at this juncture. She and former First Dude get a free trip out of Alaska during the cold weather, and she gets the national publicity she craves.

No sympathy for McCain from this corner, SEEINGRED. I won’t even lend you my handkerchief to cry into. Tell Johnny boy of Keating 5 fame to go into the nearest McDonalds and ask Mac Magruder for some paper napkins. Mac can write it off as an in-kind donation.

McCain is like the man who read his own mistakenly placed obituary in the newspaper over breakfast one morning. In McCain’s case what he reads details his his political demise. Three decades in Washington is long enough. Years ago, retirees were gifted with a gold watch from the company boss after a long career. I think Arizona’s fed up with Mccain’s antics should contribute towards getting him a watch as we send him out the door.

When McCain got no traction in AZ for his presidential run, he went east for the liberal cross over voting states to pick up mojo. He then came back here and won a primary with only 48% of the vote because too many R were in the primary and split their conservative vote.

We still have one idiot egomaniac and his foul-mouthed wife planning the same sabotage in the senate contest. Will we never be rid of these Perot fools. This no-name candidate tells us socialism has never worked. Neither has a candidacy like his, but he is blind to logic and history.

  5. DeAnn says:

I heard McCain speak and he told PC’s that JD wasn’t a serious contender. If he really thinks that, then why is he running so many negative ads so early? He also said he and Jeff Flake were fighting against earmarks while JD was fighting for them.

McCain and Flake need to go on bended knees to Susan Krentz and beg her forgiveness for supporting “comprehensive immigration reform” and not fighting to secure our borders. What creeps. Both need to be voted out.
