Remarks on the nation’s serious problem of illegal immigration, so keenly felt here in Arizona that we set the standard with our own law to address the issue, were uttered today by Barack Hussein Obama. His entire speech can be read here.
Some highlights:
Obama attempted to draw parallels between legal immigrants responsible for scientific breakthroughs such as Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla along with visionaries such as Andrew Carnegie and the flood of uneducated illegals entering our country in violation of our laws.
He spoke in terms of an “estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants” in the U.S., citing the same numbers that have been used for nearly a decade, and employs the soft term “undocumented immigrants,” clearly intended to deceive.
He tells us these men and women are simply seeking a better life for themselves and their children, the same rhetoric we have heard repeatedly from the pro-illegal, open border proponents. What he neglects to tell us is that he wants a grateful electorate of newly-minted citizens to register and vote for Democrats. He fails to acknowledge that a nation has not only a right but an obligation to its citizens, to secure its sovereign borders. Neither does he tell the audience that even the strongest and most powerful nation on the planet cannot absorb every person living in lesser conditions in other countries of the world.
But he does find time in his speech to give kudos to Sen. John McCain, whom he extols along with liberal icon Ted Kennedy, two of the three (Jon Kyl was omitted from the tribute ) architects of the 2006 amnesty bill known as Comprehensive Immigration Reform, shot down by the unleashed fury of the American public jamming phone lines, faxes and emails boxes. And what a surprise — McCain receives accolades from Obama for having “worked across the aisle” to promote this Shamnesty. Obama must not have spoken with the fearful senator of late. Old Johnny is now taking a very different approach with a conservative challenge on his right flank, mounted by J.D. Hayworth.
Obama blames the current untenable situation not on a failure to build a fence and enforce our laws, rather on “partisanship and election-year politics,” saying many of the 11 Republican senators who voted for amnesty in the past have now backed away from their previous support.
Then, he reprimands “states like Arizona” that have decided to take matters into their own hands, calling our efforts supported statewide by 71 percent, “ill conceived and divisive,” accusing us of fanning the flames of an “already contentious debate.”
For good measure Obama throws in Emma Lazarus, who wrote the welcoming inscription on the Statue of Liberty, telling us it is incumbent upon America “to signal one’s arrival to a place of opportunity and refuge and freedom.” The problem is, they aren’t coming through a processing port like Ellis Island, and it isn’t one. It is millions. Costly in terms of education, medical care, benefits and, oh yes, crime.
In anticipation of the delivery of this partisan midterm enhancement drivel, Michelle Malkin posted a piece titled Comprehensive immigration platitudes.
YES WE CAN’T: “our borders are just too vast for us to be able to solve the problem only with fences and border patrols.”
Time to replace the incompetent community organizer and get somebody that can actually do the job of protecting America.
The squatters @ 1600 Penns. Ave PROVE YET AGAIN that they DO NOT CARE what the citizens of America want! I just checked “Rassmussen Polls”, & every poll they’ve done WITHOUT EXCEPTION on the illegal alien topic, favor legislation simular to Arizona SB1070!
AND how ’bout th’ head muslim givin’ props to his homies, ?senators? McCain & Kennedy (overlooking Kyl) for comin’ up with “comprehensive immigration reform”, YO!
We all need to give a ‘shout-out’ B-ho & Co. for givin’ our man JD more information for his upcoming debate, a.k.a. @$$whoopin’ session with “th’ maverick”…
This man has no compunction about destroying our nation if that’s what it takes to ensure Democrats remain in power. That was the concept behind the nationalization of our health care, taking over the big bad banks insurance companies and automobile manufacturers. It is what drives the entitlements when we are flat broke. And it is what motivates him to grant amnesty to mega millions of lawbreakers who have invaded our nation, with the thought of Reconquista or reconquering our American southwest. Make no mistake. Obama does not have the best interests of this nation at heart. It is abundantly clear he is fundamentally committed to Marxism, but promoting the liberal democrat agenda is currently the next best thing.
Today on RUSH – a caller named them “Undocumented Democrats” – that’s exactly what this is a new voter registration by the Dems. 11 million – more like 20 – 30 million.
“Undocumented Democrats”-ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
Undocumented Democrats! Love it- and so apt.
BHO is posturing for the base. He hasn’t got the votes for amnesty and if he tries an Executive Order, he will doom every Democrat who is up for re-election not to mention hand the 2012 Presidential election to the Reps on a silver platter. Illegal immigration is tied to every woe that we have now: education issues, job losses, mortgage meltdown, healthcare costs, increased crime. The only thing we can’t lay on them is global warming, but that’s a fairy tale anyway.
Pushing healthcare down the collective throats of Americans has hurt the Dems. Granting amnesty will finish them.
It’s difficult to think of this man as our president. He is actually our enemy. Stanford is correct. This is all about the left retaining power.
We can thank our senior senator for laying the foundation upon which BHO intends to build upon. And there are actually those who want to re-elect McCain. Are they crazy? If he gets back in, you know the author of amnesty, along with his buddy Lindsay G. are going to support it. If you love this nation and our way of life,we have got to retire Senator McCain. Vote J.D. Hayworth, at least, you know he won’t support amnesty!
Exactly right, Pablo. McCain will double-cross and sell us out right along with his good buddy, Obama. If he gets reelected, he’ll consider that a mandate for his amnesty plans. He is playing the role of a quasi conservative now, but the day after the results come in, he will revert back to his old ways. And even though we all laughed at his silly “build the dang fence” ad, he’ll deny he ever said that.
I agree with most of all that has been said.
After Obama’s speech I felt despair. But now I am livid.
I have called McCain’s office(s) (unable to talk with anyone) and Kyl’s (at least someone answered), I have written letters to many Republicans and Democrats. I paid to send whopping numbers of FAX’es which I really couldn’t afford.
I have tried to turn my anger in to action but sadly I am still left with being livid.
Shouldn’t our elected officials be brought to justice for not enforcing the rule of law and failures to protect this country?
The Dem’s and Rep’s who support amnesty will surely pay a price in their next election.
A bona fide crock of amnesty from Obama…

A colleague at work told me yesterday evening of an interview he saw on Fox News’ Greta Sustern’s show, with Ill. Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D). The Congressman told Greta that one of the key points involving Comprehensive Immigration Reform is that the Government will HAVE to invoke a NATIONAL IDENTIFICATION CARD SYSTEM!
Take THAT ball & run with it where ever you like…
Doc, National ID Card is just one more way to assault the liberties of the Natural Born Citizen of the USA. And a recognition by the Federal agencies that they do not have a clue who is in this country illegally.
This National ID Card system is yet another indication that our Federal government is broken. How do they try to address this? By again assaulting the Legals liberties.
Address the real problem, no Amnesty and institute a plan for Illegal self deportation.
