Seeing Red AZ has waited to post information regarding yesterday’s horrific shooting in South Phoenix in which three Chandler undercover police officers were shot, one fatally. One of the surviving officers is in critical condition. The death of officer Carlos Ledesma, a 34-year-old married father of two, marks the third on-duty death of a Valley police officer this year.
In the midst of a drug bust gone awry, two criminal suspects were shot and killed. According to police, one was fatally shot while fleeing in a car. Six suspects have been detained. A Chevrolet Caprice Classic has been impounded.
Yet names of these suspects, all of whom are in custody, are mysteriously missing from the reports we have been following.
Any idea what’s taking so long?
UPDATE:
Finally, information regarding the suspects is available: There are eight, ages 25 to 40. Two were killed; another hospitalized and five have been arrested on charges ranging from murder to possession of marijuana with the intent to sell.
The five in custody have been identified as Thadika Singleton, 38, John Webber, 37, Doarnell Jackson, 35, Jerry Wayne Cockhearn, 25, and Eldridge Gittens, 34. In a twist on the all too often police shooting suspects, none are “in the country illegally,” the daily reports.
Lemme guess — they’re illegals. But no one wants to admit it. Am I right?
Tony is right, but it’s pretty standard procedure. It’s typical that their immigration status won’t appear until 2 or 3 days after the event, giving citizens time to forget about it.
Maybe Judge Bolton’s PI of SB1070 prevented the police and the court from inquiring into the immigration status.
But normally the names will be published and 99.9% of the time, they’re Hispanic names. This time, they’re sitting on the names too. Apparently hoping we’ll forget.
When I read the story this morning it was clear that the authorities did not want to release the ethnicities of the persons who shot the policemen. This is truly a mistake since I for one think the guilty to be Latino.
The officer shot and killed was Hispanic working undercover and all of us owe his family our gratitude an sympathy for their loss.
The fact he was undercover as a Hispanic makes me believe strongly that we will find that his killers just may be associated with a drug cartel and/or smugglers.
African American
It is odd that not a word has been reported about the suspects. I thought that when the initial news stories hit.
I am very stingy when i use the word hero. It bothers me when we toss it around lightly but these three guys have probably spent months and years, growing beards, tats etc and rolling in the mud with the scum of the earth. Going inside.. to protect us. HEROES!
My Heart and prayers go out to these brave men and their families. These men and women who put their life on the line everyday to serve and protect deserve not only and earthly reward but also a heavenly reward. What greater love of fellow mankind then to give ones life for another. These Officers are just ordinary people not unlike you or I giving their all to enforce the laws of the land. What a shame their own government protects the criminals instead of supporting those on the side of our laws.
