Politico is reporting that the heat has been turned up to sizzle in southern Arizona’s CD 8 GOP primary race. Jonathan Paton, who earlier appeared to have been sitting in the catbird seat, has fallen behind in fundraising, trailing his opponent Jesse Kelly by a considerable margin according to second quarter financial filings.
In a phenomenal show of strength, political newcomer Kelly, a tea party candidate, out-paced former state legislator Paton by raising $78,500 to Paton’s $46,400 during the period between July 1 and August 4.
The winner of this race will go toe-to-toe with Democrat incumbent U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Paton has the endorsements of The Arizona Republic, Sen. Jon Kyl, and the Chamber of Commerce — all of which give aid and comfort to illegal labor profiteers. Paton is seen here as a member of such a host committee along with the worst offenders.
Not heeding the advice of the old deodorant ad to “never let them see you sweat“ the perspiring Paton has taken what could be a fatal step in hiring the Lincoln Strategy Group run by the disreputable Nathan Sproul, hoping to pull his campaign out of the mire.
Since Sen. Russell Pearce has given a dual endorsement to both Paton and Kelly, bringing the notorious Sproul onboard is worthy of a retraction of Pearce’s Paton endorsement. It was just last election cycle that Congressman Jeff Flake recruited his immigration lawyer brother-in-law to challenge Pearce. In what will be remembered as the dirtiest campaign in memory Sproul orchestrated a vicious sleaze campaign so reprehensible that his candidate lost by an over 2 – 1 margin.
In the waning days of the campaign be sure to vote and encourage others to do the same.
And before heading to the polls Tuesday or marking the ballot on your kitchen table, take a gander at Jesse Kelly’s Paton Fact File to acquaint yourself with the dismal record of Jonathan Paton.
It matters.
I have been told by a reliable source that whenever McCain buys a table at a fund raising event, Paton is one of the McCain supporters selected to fill the seats(along with Jim Waring).
Not a surprise, Alice.
Paton must be in the depths of desperation to sign on with Nathan Sproul. Beside the obvious sleaze factor, apparently he’s not aware of Sproul’s losses on issues that should have won such as the Defense of Marriage Act that only lost in AZ when he was handling it, while in won overwhelmingly in every other state where it was on the ballot.
Thanks to Seeing Red AZ for posting this. I only wish it had come out sooner. I live in the district and have already sent the link to this post to every Republican and registered Independent I know.

Independents can ask for a Republican ballot at their polling place. This is an extremely important election. if you want to continue McCain policies, vote for RINO Paton. If you want a conservative change, Jesse Kelly is your man.
Another reason paton will LOSE to GABBY if he wins the primary (which he WON’T): contributors to paton have, to a large degree, MAXED-OUT at the legal limit, reflecting the fact that many of his supporters are of the fat-cat variety – (yes, you get higher profits from hiring ILLEGALS than American citizens, as AMNESTY-JOHN and his multimillionaire wife know from their beer distributorship). So, if he were to have to campaign against Gabby, with her MULTIPLE MILLIONS in UNIONS money, he’ll be at a tremendous disadvantage.
Kelly, on the other hand, has received a huge number of small contributions (plus some maxed-out ones). So his base has the ability to provide considerably more for the REAL campaign against the UNIONS and lunatic-left.
Kelly will win twice: in the primary and in the general.
Bottom line: Paton and McCain ar cut from the same cloth. Haven’t we had enough?
Whatever chance of winning Paton had is now long gone.
Lincoln Strategy and Nathan Sproul have the biggest losing streak in the state.
Good luck Jesse, Paton is Gabby in drag
