Torres-Romero, in the U.S. illegally, was using stolen identity to facilitate his job at the California Pizza Kitchen restaurant in Tempe. After being picked up following an anonymous tip, Torres-Romero reportedly admitted to detectives that he left the scene after striking Pollack on the night of September 11.
