Aptly named handbook: “Consider the Source”
The Girl Scouts of America isn’t quite the organization our mothers and sisters remember fondly. The updated group, Girl Scouts USA, “forever green” to the hilt, promotes Energy Star* light bulbs and appliances, and disdains using cars with a pledge to “be part of something bigger than yourself.”
It also teaches young girls how to process and understand media messages — a worthy tool considering today’s bombardment of not always reliable information. But what does the organization use as the guiding light in its book called “MEdia?”
Under the headline, “Consider the Source,” girls are encouraged to go to the George Soros-funded Media Matters for America website to clear up any media misinformation they might encounter. Nowhere is Media Matters identified as a leftwing propaganda spin machine.
“MEdia” reads, “Tired of not seeing your reality in the media around you? This journey is your chance to put some real ME in media. So get ready to shape media — for yourself, your community, the world!”
In view of the fact that young and impressionable girls are being sent to the partisan, leftwing site Media Matters as a truth filter, the cloak of impartiality is off. The book’s entire premise of teaching how to honestly assess information is exposed as more of what our children are force-fed on a daily basis at their public schools from their NEA unionist teachers. The Scouts would be much better served by a link to NewsBusters, a site that supplies facts.
A gift shop featuring pages of products to purchase, is also part of the experience. Apparently shopping and spending isn’t on the prohibited list.

The Girl Scouts also partnered with the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, a couple of years ago. I haven’t looked it up, but remember being thoroughly disgusted.
The Girl Scouts are also comfortable with the United Nations, an organization that votes against the United States at every opportunity and hosts mass murdering despots, who insult us from the podium.
Yet four Girl Scouts from Southern Arizona were UN Girl Delegates at the 55th session in New York City earlier this year. Swell!!

Sorry to break the news folks, but this is not the organization we remember. It has been taken over by the leftists.
Too late, all is lost, the camel got his nose under the tent flap. At this point, a huge natural disaster would be a relief.
Teaching propaganda where ever & when ever possible – the Left’s way. It happens everyday – AZ Rag, MSM, public schools, etc, etc.

I remember learning how to bake fudge brownies, cultivate proper hygene and good manners, build a campfire, learn to swim, and change a tire….which I already knew because my Dad insisted that all of his children hone this skill, since “you’ll never know when you’ll need it.” My troop leader was Mrs. Christopherson, and she was a woman I aspired to emulate.
Yes, I remember the handbook Planned Parenthood created for them; the Girl Scouts are lost. I’m not sure why we need a national organization for girls anyway. It’s probably better to organize groups like this locally and put a date on it’s lifespan. It’s the nature of bureaucracy to be corrupted.
