Vetting Bundgaard replacement: Kudos in order

Tony Bouie’s application for appointment to senate vacancy wisely disregarded

In the wake of Scott Bundgaard’s resignation as the Republican state senator representing Legislative District 4, seven applicants submitted their names as potential replacements. The three finalists who emerged after being vetted by the district’s precinct committeeman are state Rep. Judy Burges, former Maricopa County GOP chairman Lyle Tuttle and attorney Eric Spencer. Their names are now forwarded to the County Board of Supervisors, who will make the final selection.

Any of these candidates would be far superior to the problem-plagued, and integrity deficient, perennial candidate Tony Bouie, who brazenly applied for appointment to this position. Bouie is best remembered as the lifelong Democrat who reregistered as a newly-minted “conservative” Republican a mere five days prior to filing his intent to run for a House seat in LD 6. After repeatedly being defeated, an appointment would have been an easy slide into a legislative seat for this charlatan. Obviously the precinct committeemen were on their toes.  The original list also included Jerry Overton, Joy Grainger and David Livingston.

The Westside district includes parts of Glendale, Peoria, as well as Surprise and Sun City West.

  1. Seen It All says:

Bouie undoubtedly thought it would be a snap to be appointed rather than face the voters. Glad to see no one was fooled. This guy would be more adept at selling snake oil than representing Republicans.

  2. Overtaxed1 says:

We also have to watch the people who promote Bouie time after time.

  3. State Committeeman says:

Lyle Tuttle is one stand-up guy! His word is his bond. Very few match him in the intergrity department.

  4. LD4 PC says:

Open letter to Eric Spencer: Who do you like in the Presidential race? Which current Pres. candidate comes closest to your positions?

  5. Hunter says:

Judy Burgess would be the best person for the position. The only drawback is that LD4 would have to convene once again to pick a replacement for her in the AZ House. However, that could be a good way to get a solid conservative a step up in the 2012 House election and give Judy a step up for the AZ Senate election which would be worth the extra effort.
