Retired Police Sergeant Paul Penzone, a Democrat, has declared his candidacy for Sheriff by filing an exploratory committee in his liberal zeal to challenge popular Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Penzone joins Scottsdale Police Lt. Mike Stauffer, a onetime Republican who opportunistically switched his affiliation to Independent to run.
That trickery didn’t work out so well for perpetual loser Dan Saban, who took a colossal trouncing when taking on Arpaio in 2004 as a Republican and later as a Democrat in 2008. This telling video of Saban, who “can’t distinguish between false and true,” exposes the level of challengers who are primed to step forward attempting to take down the esteemed law enforcement Goliath.
Saban, who has filed, withdrawn and then re-filed, campaign documents, makes no bones about his desire to give the green light to the continued flow of illegal aliens into our state and nation — a decidedly odd take on law enforcement. Rick Romley, a previous county attorney who continually clashed with Sheriff Arpaio, weakly endorsed Saban during his last foray onto the political scene here — distilling his support to one word, “change.”
Watch for the local media, especially the left-leaning open borders advocates at the daily newspaper and their plummeting Gannett-owned sibling, Channel 12 KPNX-TV now openly housed in the same building, to jump on the bandwagons of these wannabes. It won’t matter which one. Their only hope is that it isn’t Joe Arpaio.
It’s only the voting citizens of Maricopa County who give Arpaio accolades. But after all, those are the opinions that actually matter.
My wife and I are elected precinct committeemen in LD7. We attended the Jan. 14th Mandatory Meeting. For anyone who wasn’t there, let me attest to the rousing cheers that greeted Sheriff Joe. He was given two standing ovations, one when he approached the podium and another when he concluded his address to the large gathering that filled the massive church where the meeting was held. Those applause were also given in various spots in his speech. The people seated next to us were new PCs and they rose to their feet without a moment’s hesitation. Joe and his lovely wife Ava are beloved, and treated with respect. It is only the crowd who prefers to let our country be overrun by illegals who disrespect our laws and heritage (wanting to turn this country into a replica of the one that was so grand, they left it) who oppose the sheriff. Legal immigrants who embrace America are welcomed. Illegals, who disrespect America, are not.
I was at the same County meeting. I was proud to be among the many fans of Sheriff Joe. It was a pleasure to join all of those who stood and cheered. I’m proud to have this decent man as our sheriff,
The more the merrier. Sheriff Joe Arpaio will win regardless.
The most vicious strategically-produced and scheduled attacks on SB 1070, Russell Pearce, and Joe Arpaio I have seen in the last six months came from none other than KSAZ FOX 10. They went out and dug up a Hispanic law professor to proclaim SB 1070 would be shredded by SCOTUS; they hit Pearce with a sludge-dragging mini-drama prior to the recall signature deadline; they pounced on Arpaio after the DOJ racial profiling bomb with fancy rapid-fire stills of Arpaio backed with sinister-sounding music – all to introduce the story, or update it over the next few days.
The most jaw-dropping incident I’ve seen was last week when the story was “Arpaio’s Response To DOJ.” They started with Arpaio’s verbal response and then unannounced and without fanfare, they interupped Arpaio twice to cut to a screaming Steve Gallardo picking apart that response, and calling him every name in the book. It could not have been any worse if you were watching Telemundo. The Rupert (I want amnesty) Murdoch-owned affiliate has gone slime bucket.
If you ever lose in Maricopa County, AZ., God Forbid, Please come up to Oregon, we could use a FEW MORE good men up here. By the way, I’ve had talks with our local County Sheriff and He is of the same mind as you. You are our hero Joe.
Thanks for recognizing our gem of a sheriff, James. Sheriff Joe has spent his entire career in law enforcement, much of it working for the same federal government, which under liberal Obama/Holder now want to take him down. He is well regarded by those who recognize this awful truth:
I also attended the County meeting and have a deep regard for Sheriff Arpaio. Please do not underestimate Randy Parraz & Co, who would crawl over ground glass to see him defeated. He’s been working on that goal since 2008. I attended today’s BOS meeting and spoke out against the DOJ’s spurious charges against Sheriff Arpaio. So did 9 others. 6 were against Arpaio. Before all 15 of us spoke, Parraz’s motley crew were there enmasse. What Parraz is trying to do is sway public sentiment against Arpaio,and the media reports every breath he takes. The media left shortly after he did. Our positive remarks will go unreported, since the media reports half the news. The “public” will only be fed the Parraz rhetoric repeatedly. Parraz, the DOJ, Thomas Perez and the entire Civil Rights Division are wearing down Arizonans until they submit. WE need to get the truth out in every way possible, to overcome the rapid fire media reporting. Parraz knows how it’s done. Focus on the Target. Fire! Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!. Repeat! “432 uninvestigated sex charges”! “Racial profiling”! Tea Party extremists!” If you want to know the truth about the DOJ read J. Fascinating information on Stephen Viramontes, Anita! I hope this gets seen by the majority of state committeemen before the Saturday meeting. We cannot have this man elected to the AZ GOP Second Vice Chair position. He’s been attending Distict meetings and trying to sound like a conservative.
That video “endorsement” of Dan Saban by Rick Romley was a hoot! He clearly didn’t give a rat’s patootey about Saban. His “endorsement” was driven by his hatred of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. That alone would make me vote for Arpaio, except for the fact that I support him for his dedication and concern about the people of Maricopa County. Go Joe!!!
