The State Committee of the Arizona Republican Party will hold its mandatory meeting tomorrow — Saturday, January 28 — where elected state committeemen will choose their officers for the next two years. This is an important election, setting the stage for the AZ GOP as it enters the crucial 2012 election.
In the race for AZ GOP 3rd Vice-Chair there are two candidates offering a clear choice. Chad Palmer, an LD-1 State Committeeman from Prescott is the strong conservative who presents a robust contrast to Graham County GOP Chairman John “J. Duane” Rhodes.
Rhodes, an establishment cohort, endorsed John McCain over conservative JD Hayworth in the 2010 U.S. Senate race. Rhodes and fellow moderate — former state Rep. Bill Konopnicki — are Co-Chairmen of Jeff Flake’s campaign in Graham County.
The energetic Chad Palmer is the well qualified and dependable conservative choice for the Third Vice-Chair position. Based on his values and dedication, he has won the endorsement of Sen. Ron Gould. We also urge his support.
The choice is clear. Vote for the conservative. Vote for Chad Palmer.
J Duane Rhodes already holds a voting seat on the State Executive Committee. What is the point in giving one man two Executive Committee seats? At a meeting this week he was asked if he would resign one seat and he said he would not.
Even those who align with Rhodes politically can see this is an inappropriate power grab and not in the best interest of the AZ GOP or Republican voters statewide.
Who sold this goofy scheme to the Rhodes endorsers anyway?
John Rhodes is a good man who has long has supported “the World’s Senator” John McCain.
I don’t know how a county chairman gets away with serving as Campaign Chairman for Republican candidate Jeff Flake during a primary but if anyone can pull it off it’s Duane Rhodes. Is this the “unity” we’ve got to look forward to?

John Rhodes has supported the Republican Party in Graham County for years and years. Workers like him do not grow on trees.
But, Chad Palmer has been called every name in the book this week and it isn’t selling folks. In Prescott we know this guy bleeds Republican red. This guy has not got an insincere bone in his body. Tough call but I will sleep okay casting my vote for Palmer.
Hey Folks! Thank You All for supporting my Fellow Conservative & Very Good Friend Chad! And Thank You Mark Z for ALL YOU DO!
As for the “Unity” thing, I’d like to state here that Unity is a fine thing! However, in my “never so humble opinion”…True Republicans stand by the Republican Platform. Unity needs to be practiced by those moderates who state that they are Republicans. READ THE PLATFORM & THE CONSTITUTION…it’s pretty clear.
Would the “moderates”, in a fit of rage for not having their demands/objectives/moderations met, vote for our current President? Conservatives need not bend as long as they are operating according to the Republican Platform.
…just sayin’…
Chad’s a nice person but he doesn’t even show up at most things. It’s a question mark as to why he is even running. Who put him up to this and why? If he doesn’t participate in local and state events for the Republican party, what will he do with a seat on the board?
At least with Rhodes, you know you will get a man who will support the rest of the board and the chairman in trying to unify the party. If he’s good enough for the chairman and that great patriot who has done so much for Arizona, Russell Pearce, John Rhodes is good enough for me. If Palmer was the right guy, why wouldn’t these two fine men be supporting him for this position? His election will not serve the party but will likely cause more disunity. If he is so interested in the health of the party, why doesn’t he pay some dues first and participate and help the party in major ways like so many who could have run for that seat? Or is it all about him and advancing his agenda? just asking.
I will tell you what Chad Palmer will do, he will vote conservative and John, the RINO, Rhodes will not. Do you really want to give the power grab to the McCain bunch?
PattyH-So why don’t you give Chad a call, or e-mail him, & verify your story? I know for a PERSONAL FACT that after 2 deaths in his immediate Family in 2011, plus work commitments ( & I work with him in the EMERGENCY ROOM in Prescott, so I can personally verify…) Chad has made EVERY EFFORT to attend everything he knew about regarding AZGOP & YAVGOP. Here’s his contact info:

AND He’ll be at the State Committeeman meeting later this a.m.
I have talked to both Chad and John, I consider them both to be good Republicans, but as a conservative Republican and having a choice, Chad Palmer is my man.
Thank you Seeing Red Az for the great article of recommendation and thank you also to Jill H., LD5 PC, Loose Lips, Doc and Sgt. Flapjaw see y’all at the dinner tonight and we will celebrate Victory tomorrow and continue to stand for the Republican Platform!
Now Chad Palmer has the opportunity to live up to his campaign rhetoric. If he does, the AZGOP will be the better for it. Let’s all wish the Party and Chad the best in this most important election year.
