Polling numbers look good for conservative candidate
In a survey of likely Arizona Congressional District 8 primary voters released this week, Jesse Kelly holds a strong lead over the other prospective Republican candidates.
Kelly’s lead far surpasses that of both State Senator Frank Antenori (R-Dist. 30) and Tucson sports broadcaster Dave Sitton. Kelly, a conservative, has a combined 35% of definite and leaning voters. The same measure for Antenori is 15%, while Sitton holds 7%.
Primary voters support Kelly over Antenori by a ratio of 2.4 to 1.
In response to the results, Kelly stated, “We are humbled by the strong support from the people of Southern Arizona. I have heard from many families who are ready for Congress to focus on improving the economy and helping the private sector create good paying jobs in Arizona.”
The TelOpinion Research poll was conducted on the 24th and 25th of January, 2012 and sampled 300 likely primary voters from throughout the current Congressional District 8 in Arizona.
Jesse Kelly works in the private sector as a project manager for a construction firm. He and his wife live in Pima County, where they are raising their two sons.
Kelly ran a dreadfully BAD, BAD, BAD, INCOMPETENT and AMATEURISH campaign against pelosi-puppet goofy gabby, whose outrageous and extreme positions on nearly all issues are opposite to the preferences of the overwhelming majority of American citizens in CD8 and should have ensured her defeat.
I contributed substantially to Kelly’s campaign – and I certainly did NOT get my money’s worth. There would need to be BIG changes in any re-run by Kelly before I would contribute as much as a penny to his 2nd campaign.
Are you kidding? Jesse Kelly, a political newcomer at the time, came within a point of beating the entrenched incumbent democrat. Your assertion is ridiculous. He’s a reliable conservative and would represent this state admirably.
So elections are based upon getting your “money’s worth?” Does that mean winning?
I worked on Kelly’s campaign and can attest to the fact that he worked his butt off on that race. You got your money’s worth and more! Did you ring any doorbells, make any phone calls, work on sending out mailers, hammer any signs? I did, and so did Jesse Kelly.
Kelly ran as good as a campaign as possible against an incumbent who was one of the top fundraisers in the state and had the local newspapers behind her.
Exactly, catsclaw!!
What’s your point? A lot of people have lost the first time around. As an example, Ronald Reagan lost the GOP nomination in 1976 but won the 1980 general election. Abraham Lincoln lost s succession of elections before winning a congressional seat.
I ask, what the heck does Jesse Kelly have to offer? Certainly no experience to speak of.
We rail against career politicians, yet when someone runs who has not held elective office we use the “no experience” line against him.
Jill Arizona:
Evidently you are not familiar with Jesse Kelly. Therefore, let’s go to another topic for discussion. Why did you end your last sentence with a preposition?
In actuality we do have two good candidates vying for this seat. I know both Frank and Jesse, and for me living in CD8 this will be a tough decision. My husband and I have supported and have held fundraisers for both of them. In spite of Frank’s unfortunate endorsement of McCain (he says he was asked before JD entered the race), either one of them winning the seat will be a win for conservatives in CD8. After that, we go on to the disaster that the IRC made for us in the newly drawn CD2.
