Gun show sales reach record highs as Obama revs up control rhetoric
The first day of the Florida Gun Shows’ exhibition attracted record breaking crowds of nearly 8,000 people on Saturday in Orlando, according to event organizers. WKMG TV 6 has the video here.
The same scene was repeated in California, as gun owners flocked to the Ontario Convention Center this past weekend to stock up on ammunition. Over 6,000 people filled the center by Saturday afternoon, and more than double that number was expected to attend the event by the end of the weekend. The massive turnout is something even the Crossroads of the West Gun Show promoter didn’t expect. NBC TV 4 News has this report and video.
Around the country, gun store owners are finding it difficult to replenish their supply because most nationwide distributors are also out of stock. Many are reporting ammunition is becoming scarce.
Here was presidential candidate Barack Obama at a campaign event in Lebanon, Virginia in 2008, declaring he will not take Americans’ guns away:
“When you all go home and you’re talking to your buddies and you say, ah ‘He wants to take my gun away.’ You’ve heard it here; I’m on television so everybody knows it. I believe in the Second Amendment. I believe in people’s lawful right to bear arms. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won’t take your handgun away.”
Over this past weekend, while nervous Americans were standing in long lines to purchase firearms and ammo, the Washington Post ran this report, detailing Obama’s plans for curbing gun ownership in the wake of the horrific school shooting perpetrated by a crazed killer, in Newtown, Connecticut.
Remember this. According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle. For example, in 2011, there were 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs. Another startling fact according to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.
White House aides have been in regular contact with advisers to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a committed gun control advocate (video) who is being positioned to emerge as a powerful surrogate for the Obama administration’s agenda — taking the heat off of Barack Obama, who as a candidate in 2008 vowed his unwavering support of the Second Amendment.
Did you believe him then? Do you now?
Republicans had a chance to get in front of this issue, and still could. But saying ‘no’ to every proposal instead of addressing some real shortcomings in the current laws is only going to bring unnecessary regulations and an increase in govt. spending.
SRAZ: You continue to permit an obvious Liberal, Westnash, to post here, often getting in the first word and, as above, attacking Republicans and Conservatives on an ongoing basis in a supposedly “Conservative” blog. How do you square that with the allegedly Conservative Republican nature of this blog?
Euby wants to lecture SRAZ on who can post and when. If you carry that dogma out a couple of more powers you can see why Arizona is turning into a reliable state for the Democrats.

Let’s analyze Westnash’s comment.

This is a meaningless generalization. It’s an attempt to portray Republicans and Conservatives as unreasonable naysayers.

You’ll notice that Westnash avoids being specific about what those “shortcomings” are.

This is classic Liberal propaganda. Unless we do as Westnash says, we are going to lose. The entire insurance industry is built upon the principle that fear of loss is a more potent motivator than the prospect of gain. What we have here is Westnash seeking to implement the politics of fear.
Westnash uses this tired old Liberal tactic repeatedly. He talks about the “far right” and tells us that if we adhere to the principles of what he calls “the far right”, Republicans will lose elections to Democrats.
Westnash has defined the “far right” as those who refuse to “compromise” on gun laws and those who refuse to “compromise” on the fiscal cliff. If you don’t want to be part of Westnash’s dreaded “far right” then you need to be someone who will compromise, compromise, compromise.
In all of what Westnash says, the one constant is that he seeks to move us to the left.
SRA you see these wild distortions and the previous statement which I have copied below. I have no interest in moving anyone anywhere. I just make a few points to consider, if you want to win.

The tactics being used by Obama are historical,and should be clear to anyone with knowledge. But our schools are run by liberals and teachers have intentionally dumbed down our population to fit their leftist union ideal. So American youth, who know little about history, don’t realize that voting for the cool guy with a smooth manner is not necessarily voting for the benefit of this country. They also know nothing about the horrors of WWII, and how the Nazi SS marched through towns — first registering then confiscating — firearms. Millions of people who were left defenseless were herded into death camps in Poland and Germany. John McCain, like Bob Dole before him, was a horrible candidate. But the real tragedy is that our teachers support Obama and his minions. The National Education Association (NEA) union, over 3.2 million strong voluntarily voted themselves a $10 union dues increase to earmark for Obama’s last election campaign.
I’m looking for a 22LR semi-automatic AR-15 type. Anyone know who has one? I’ve checked Big 5, Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, etc. No luck. The clerks just laugh. I’m getting worried I’ll be too late to buy one.

There was one recently advertised in the “Big 5″ flier. They had a photo of it and it looked really cool. Maybe you need to check another “Big 5″ store. I know they had it. Came with a ten shot clip. This was just before Christmas. Maybe they sold out.
The marxists know they can not succeed with a straight up piece of legislation, so they will try to do it with stealth – amendments to spending bills, executive orders and bureacratic regulations.
Take a look at who is first at crossing the aisle and working to help out, and watch for McFlake to come right along behind him.

I don’t think any more of McCain than you do but neither he or Flake are Marxists or McCarthyites and trying to get rid of these Senators by any means other than term limits hasn’t proven to work.
There will be some changes in gun regulations at some point in 2013 and the Republicans who only tow the NRA line of “no” will lose. Wouldn’t you rather outsmart your opponent than trying unsuccessfully in throwing up a wall, that is crumbling down around you.
All you are going to do is elect Gabby Giffords, and the like.

SRA you could do a great service by starting now to take on the Gabby Giffords problem that will loom in the next year or so. She is already angling to be elected to higher office and the drum roll will only continue. Stop her now, not with spite or rhetoric, but with facts and worthy opposition. Where was the stories on the people who actually died in the shootings? All we hear is Gabby Giffords. A similar tactic was successful for Janet Napolitano and Arizona has not benefited from her service, unless you like California.
Westnash seeks to steer our time, effort and resources to Gabbly Giffords. Why? Because that steers us away from more potent Liberal threats! It’s called “a red herring”.

Under the Obama administration, guns were premitted to “walk” into Mexico. This resulted in the violent murders of at least one U. S. law enforcement officer and 200 to 300 innocent Mexican citizens.
When BATF field agents specifically requested that those weapons have tracking devices concealed in them, that request was denied by their BATF superiors.
When BATF field agents informed their superiors that their gun walking would result in the deaths of U. S. law enforcement officers, their superiors went ahead with the operation anyway.
What was the reason for “Fast and Furious”? Obama was, at the same time that “Fast and Furious” was being carried out, making a case for more gun control legislation on the basis that guns from the U. S. were finding their way into Mexico and being used by the cartels.
In typical leftist fashion, Obama and his administration thought nothing of facilitating the wholesale slaughter of hundreds of innocent people in an effort to promote their Liberal gun control agenda.
Isn’t it amazing that Westnash, with all of his comments about guns and gun laws, has had not a word to say about Obama’s “Fast and Furious”.

No, Westnash, what is amazing is how you support a ban on large capcity gun magazines, tell us that we need to “compromise” on gun laws but completely fail to address Obama’s “Fast and Furious” operation which Republicans investigated and which resulted in finding Eric Holder in Contempt of Congress. That is what is amazing!
I will repeat this again as the news was Giffords started a Political PAC and received more publicity than any Arizona Republican official since McCain. If this is not countered now by a quality campaign you will see her sainted as Mother Teresa very soon. And then elected.
