LD 27 unanimously censures Gov. Jan Brewer, 15 legislators

This Resolution was unanimously passed by LD 27 PCs at their July 9 district meeting:

Whereas, Governor Brewer and 15 Republican state legislators formed an alliance with Democratic elected officials for the express purpose of thwarting the will of the Republican majority in the legislature and violating Republican Party principles and the Republican Party Platform, including but not limited to the following:

· They implemented the passage of Medicaid expansion.

· They implemented government healthcare.

· They approved taxpayer funding for abortion and increased funding for abortion services.

· They expanded eligibility for welfare benefits, and invited 300,000+ new people into the welfare system.

· They raised taxes.

· They voted against auditing the hospital bed tax.

· They increased property taxes.

· The only tax relief they offered was for special-interest industries who could afford to hire lobbyists.

· They rejected a balanced budget and voted for one with a structural debt of $400 million.

· They removed government oversight for special interests.

· They voted against verifying citizenship as a requirement for Medicaid benefits.

· They removed funding for English immersion for non-English-speaking students, thus ensuring the continuation of the failed, Democratic-Party-supported, bilingual programs.

· Whereas, they corrupted the legislative process by suspending the rules and depriving the public of the opportunity to scrutinize and comment on the proposed legislation.

· Whereas, they stymied the legislative process, dishonored American legislative traditions, stifled democratic notions of fairness and openness, and violated decorum by refusing to debate.

· Whereas, they violated the wishes of the vast majority of Republican precinct committeemen in the state of Arizona who had overwhelmingly opposed the passage of Medicaid Expansion, making their wishes known in formal resolutions.

· Whereas, they voted in favor of national health care, disregarding the will of the voters of Arizona who in 2010 amended the Arizona Constitution via Proposition 106 to oppose national health care.

· Whereas, they violated the separation of powers defined in the Arizona Constitution by voting for a budget amendment originated by the executive branch of government.

· Whereas, they violated the Arizona Constitution by surrendering the legislators’ authority to tax to an unelected bureaucrat in an Executive branch agency, and made such taxes subject to approval of the federal government.

· Whereas, they forced passage of a tax increase by a mere majority vote instead of the constitutionally required 2/3 vote.

· Be it Resolved, that we, the Honorable Precinct Committeemen of Legislative District 27, do censure Governor Jan Brewer and the following Arizona State legislators:

LD 1 Senator Steve Pierce
LD 16 Senator Rich Crandall

LD 18 Senator John McComish

LD 23 Senator Michele Reagan

Very Happy to see this, those who violate the party platform, principles and ideology need to be called out and punished for their actions, its something I would like to see be done more frequently, particularly by the party leadership.

do you hear me Robert graham? or are you still only listening to the chamber of commerce, the rnc, lobbyist and special interest at the expense of the party base.

I am very disappointed in adam kwasman who is exploring a run for cd 1. he has lost my support for any office now that he has made orr and shope, both obrewercare traitors, co-chairs of his campaign.

we as a party must stop rewarding destructive behavior of elected politicians and punish them when the abuse the voters, the party and the platform. not doing so only encourages continued bad behavior.

politicians must know if they do not follow the platform, philosophy and ideology we will work against them and make sure they are removed from office and elected to no other.

Wow seeing it all listed together like this makes me so angry at her! Arrgh!
Can’t we impeach her the way we did Mecham? (Actually I can’t take any credit for that as I was a child at the time, but my Mother was very involved with the process of kicking his corrupt behind outta there.) ;-)
How awful. The only redeeming quality I can find in her is a pro 2A stance. Otherwise, we may as well have a democrat governor.
Between her, McRINO & Jeff the FLAKE, we Az Republicans have been sorely abused by our GOP.. Easy to see why everyone’s fleeing the party I mean really, what’s the point?

      “corrupt behind”? How so??
I didn’t personally like the guy, but he was acquitted of all charges in his criminal trial. Evan Mecham was impeached because he rescinded MLK Day and Arizona was blasted in the national media as a racist state. Again, I didn’t like the guy but I can’t justify labeling him as corrupt.

    • State Committeeman says:

      Tabby,
Unlike you, who gets second-hand information from an obviously liberal mother, I knew and respected Gov. Evan Mecham. He was not corrupt, but he was a solid conservative! That rankled the liberals in the state and brought the media out of the woodwork like nothing I’ve seen in Arizona until their vengeful attacks on Senate President Russell Pearce and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Neither of them are corrupt either, but like Gov. Mecham, they are both feisty conservatives who refused to roll over and bow to the leftists.

Rather than getting your history from your biased mother, try finding out about Gov. Mecham from another source.
      Read his book, “Wrongful Impeachment”

Know this. Mecham, a respected longtime businessman and former state senator, cut the state budget and unlike Jan Brewer, was responsible for bringing conservative sanity to state government. He was reviled by liberals. The rest of us detested seeing what they did to this decorated WWII Army Air Force Pilot who received the Air Medal and Purple Heart fighting for the country he loved. Mecham was a good and decent, faith-based man who was marked for removal from the first day he stepped into the Governor‘s Office.

Although he was indicted on six overcharged felony counts of perjury and filing a false campaign report, he was later found NOT GUILTY of those charges. Did your mother happen to pass along that information? The liberals tried every tactic in the book to take him out including devising a simultaneous recall, impeachment and even bringing criminal charges that were eventually overturned after he was removed from office.

You might ask your mother if she remembers that.

They also expanded the ability of local school boards to double their Class B bonding capabilities that is likely to be the largest single tax increase in the history of the State of Arizona. This on HB 2003 sponsored by Heather Carter. There is a petition to place this on the ballot in 2014.

The battle which is critical and which currently faces us is immigration “reform” legislation in the Republican controlled U. S. House of Representatives.

Here is what came of the much touted House Republican Conference where House Republicans were supposed to formulate their plans regarding immigration legislation:

“According to a report in The Hill, one anonymous lawmaker said that Boehner is more than open to going to a conference with the Senate bill.”

“The Speaker said that we’re going to have a majority of the conference for anything that goes over (to the Senate) or comes back (from conference),” a lawmaker at the meeting said.

“People were asking, ‘well can you guarantee me what’s going to come back from conference won’t be the Senate bill-light?'”

“(Boehner) said ‘I can’t guarantee what’s going to come back from conference because it hasn’t happened yet but I can guarantee that we’re going to have something a majority of the conference accepts,” a lawmaker in the room told The Hill.”

“Another hole conservatives may find in the House GOP leadership statement is that it did not explicitly promise that law enforcement—border security and interior immigration law enforcement—would come before legalization of America’s illegal immigrants. Boehner previously made that promise in a statement to reporters, but it notably was missing from this statement. Steel similarly did not respond when asked why that promise was not in this joint GOP leadership statement.”

    Here comes the sellout!

Off topic but ON POINT, THIS from foxnews:

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/12/homeland-security-chief-napolitano-to-resign-official-says/

…there’s sumthin shady goin’ on WITH THAT…

    • eubykdisop says:

Hey, great link, Doc! Hadn’t heard that! Certainly sounds like some sort of deal has been cut!

President of the California university system! Now THAT is exactly where Napolitano belongs! Let her be in “Liberal Land” and contribute to the ongoing ruin and destruction in a state which went down the tubes long ago! Besides, she can marry a person of the sex of her choosing there now.

    • Red Baron says:

What’s a Gearhead, Doc? As another supporter of Gov. Mecham, I might want to become one, too!!

I knew him when he was in the state legislature and I was a young page. He was a true gentleman and a strong conservative. I’ll always hold him in high regard. The press was lying in wait to destroy him from the moment he won the primary. They never thought that would happen. They were banking on RINO Burt Barr winning.

  7. jai says:

This is a beginning, but conservatives, need more. It’s time our elected officials represent those who elected them. Anyone who obviously defies those who elected them should be impeached.
