Catholics have their problems with liberal hierarchy

November 2, 2007

So, it appears, do Jews

We recently reported that the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has urged parishioners to lobby their senators to vote for the socialized State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). Many traditional Catholics were dismayed by this overt leftward political muscle put on parishioners.

Now it appears the Jewish community has its own liberal demons. Ann Coulter writes a compelling piece titled, How Long Before the ADL Kicks Out All Its Jews?

Organized religions of various denominations are insistently pushing toward the left, leaving many of traditional faithful desperately seeking a spot of reasonableness. The political views of believers cover a broad range, but it appears many clergy—regardless of denomination—find that an outlandish and unacceptable concept.

City of Brotherly Love slams Boy Scouts

October 20, 2007

Refusal to bend rules to accommodate political correctness causes yearly rent hike of $199,999

Since 1928, the City of Philadelphia has leased an historic building to the Boy Scouts for the token sum of $1.00 a year. The new $200,000 fee is the penalty imposed for failure to renounce their long-held national council policies, resulting in charges of discrimination against gays and atheists.

Barring a resolution, the Cradle of Liberty Council, consisting of approximately 64,000 scouts in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs, will be forced to vacate the property by the appropriate date of April 1, or April Fools Day.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2000 that the scouts, as a private group, have a First Amendment right to bar homosexuals from membership. Philadelphia officials, in an effort to appease homosexual activists, began searching for a way to punish the scouts. The rent increase was the vehicle to do that.

Charges of “discrimination” appear to be selectively applied, since the city apparently finds no objection to discriminating against the scouts due to their beliefs.

Middle-of-the-road pretenses laid aside as Democrats move further left

O’Reilly : Attendance at Yearly Kos convention “beyond shameful”

Having given short shrift to the more moderate Democratic Leadership Conference, Democrat presidential candidates showed up in force at the second Yearly Kos convention this weekend.

With this group of far left bloggers, including the extremist MoveOn.org, having the candidates currying their favor, we have a fair idea of what is actually on the horizon as these candidates move forward with their campaigns.
