It’s obviously the heat

The summertime crazies are upon us

First it was State Rep. Mark DeSimone (D-Dist.11) who was booked into the Maricopa County Jail following a report of domestic violence.

Then we read that Gilbert Mayor Steve Berman is also under investigation in connection with a domestic violence incident. According to the article in the Tribune, Berman and his wife have only been married six months. Seems as though this would still qualify as honeymooning. Guess not.

Now it’s reported that Apache Junction Vice Mayor R.E. Eck Jr. suffered a broken rib this week when a man he knew forced his way into Eck’s home and beat him, according to police reports.

Vincent Sanchez, 37, in being held in Pinal County Jail in Florence on two counts of aggravated assault and one count of burglary.

As Noel Coward so rightly said, “Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.”

More than the heat, it could just be the guys we put into office. The domestic violence doesn’t fly with women voters. I thought DeSimone was resigning. Haven’t heard that he has done so. He can’t actually believe he could be reelected.

Nice touch with the old Noel Coward link. It caught me by surprise!

It could be the ‘midday sun,” but I think it’s the haughty elected office holders who think they can run amok without any consequences. Glad to see that’s not the case.
The real consequences will be at the polls. And to Maggie: I’ve not heard another word about DeSimone stepping down. Another libeeral has announced he is entering,
but I’ll stick with Jon Altmann to fill that vacant seat.

I don’t know if Desimone has resigned from office (since the lege’s session is over, who cares anyway?), but he has officially withdrawn from this fall’s ballot.
