ASU freshman required reading list includes book by one-time terrorist Ayers

Kids at ASU? This is what you’re supporting

William Ayers the one-time terrorist-turned-professor, who says he “didn’t do enough” when bombing federal and public buildings as a member of the radical left-wing terrorist group the Weather Underground, has authored a book Titled, To Teach: The Journey of a Teacher. The book is required reading for all freshman Arizona State University education majors.

Ayers and his equally culpable wife, Bernardine Dohrn, have maintained a longstanding friendship with Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle.

FOX NEWS reports that Barack Obama once gave a glowing endorsement of a book by former domestic terrorist William Ayers and was mentioned by name in the book itself.

Barack Obama, who has consistently downplayed his relationship with William Ayers during his presidential campaign, once gave a glowing endorsement of a book by the former domestic terrorist and was mentioned by name in the book itself.

A blogger unearthed the Dec. 21, 1997, endorsement in the Chicago Tribune and posted photographs of the praise for Ayers’ book on Saturday.

Featured next to a smiling photograph of himself, then-State Senator Obama called Ayers’ book, “A Kind and Just Parent: Children of the Juvenile Court,” a “searing and timely account of the juvenile court system, and the courageous individuals who rescue hope from despair.”

This is the height of academic highhandedness that is undermining our nation. Are there no other authors?

  2. Kathy says:

Endoctrination! This is not by coincidence.

  3. Steve says:

As columnist Jonah Goldberg writes: “More reasons for terrorists to support Obama.”

  4. SherriAZ says:

Another good reason not to choose the over costly ASU system.

I heard about this on the radio as I was maneuvering through traffic and wishing light rail had not caused us to lose an entire lane of traffic. I would think there might be some less objectionable authors around. It angers me that this guy is making a profit from students and their parents.

Head over to Ottawa University – a private edcuation for less than ASU! and they can guarantee you will graduate in 4 years or less because you don’t have to fight to get into overfilled classes.

  7. Zeb H says:

This is ridiculous! Until this book is pulled from the list, ASU will not see a cent from me. As a recent Alumni this is downright embarrassing. You are supporting a man that once bombed civilians to protest a war!

Be proactive. Call and complain at the dean’s office.

In keeping with the season, I submit that ASU is one heavily dressed, highly expensive, and (locally, at least) overly glorified turkey.
