Pizzeria encourages lawbreaking: Free Pizza for McCain Signs

Break the law, get a pepperoni and cheese

Bring in a McCain/Palin sign and Salvatore’s Pizzeria, in Warren, Michigan will exchange it for a free pizza.

It seems owner, Diana Franzoni, is miffed that the McCain campaign pulled its resources out of Michigan. She is quoted as saying, “Health care is killing us. McCain gave up on Michigan, so you should give up on him.”

FOX 2’s Brad Edwards explains how that offer may have prompted some hungry bargain hunters to break the law. He reports that Franzoni estimates that since she put the bounty on the signs, she is receiving about 30 pilfered signs a day for at least the last couple of weeks, which equals 100‘s of filched signs — and pizzas.

Although Franzoni makes the weak distinction between bringing in “your’ sign or delivering “a” sign, her intent is clear.

No wonder democrats are partial to the socialist concept of redistribution of wealth. Running a business where you give away your product to make a point does nothing to enhance your bottom line. This is a guaranteed recipe for failure as well as thin crust pizza.

  2. Bill says:

Thanks for posting the telephone number. I called the pizzeria and spoke with Peter Franzoni, who told me they stopped this exchange yesterday after a visit from the police who said they were encouraging theft. He sounded annoyed.

  3. Ajo Joe says:

Don’t you just love those Democrats? They are so ardent in their desire for governmental parenting that they will harm themselves in order to express their anger at not getting free health care. If the Franzoni’s stuck to business, in this case SELLING pizza instead of giving it away, they could afford their own insurance.

Try as I might, I will never understand this foolishness.

I have mixed feelings about this. One one hand, pizzaman should be ashamed of himself for such an illegal and foolish stunt. One the other, the GOP of Michigan got the back of the hand. You tell people that they are not important and that they don’t matter, well guess what, they just might poke you in the eye. I personally believe that the public way the McCain campaign left Michigan was an insult. Surely, there could have been a more low way to accomplish the reallocation of resources.

  5. Kim Francisco says:

McCain pulled out of MI when the economy tanked and the UAW and NObama is spending money like crazy here. He is limited on funds because he kept his promise of public financing. NObama saying ALL thru the primaries that he would accept public monies and even signed a pledge to that effect, in which he broke his word the night before the deadline. Hence, ALL of his money. Now he is buying the presidency w/foriegn money. I have replaced signs 5 times. Write them a review at:http://www.menupix.com/detroit/restaurants.php?id=1010673
and let them know what you think!!

  6. Kim Francisco says:

The Democrats got Nobama’s back of his hand when he pulled out of MI in the primaries, saying we must be punished. Then the DNC gave him votes that he did not earned and took delagates away from Clinton that she DID earned. Read the above link to their pizzaria review and see what MI folks think of our kool-aid drinker. A young girl that daddy bought her a shop to keep her busy. But not busy enough. 7. Kim Francisco says:

Clinton supporters raised millions of $$$ to have a revote in Aug. but 2 Detroit Democrats, Nobama supporters, stopped the vote!!
Nobama outspent Clinton 5-1 and now he is outspending McCain 8-1.
Please get informed. His head ACORN guy in Michigan was arrested Oct.18 for 200,00 fraudulant voter registrations.
He will steal this election just like he did the primaries.
    Are you scared yet??

    Nightie:
The truth is that resources only stretch so far. The polling was not looking particularly good for McCain in Michigan. According to the 2000 US Census, Blacks were nearly 15 percent of the Michigan population. Undoubtedly that number has increased. Reliable political data indicate 97 percent of Blacks voting for Obama. You do the math, Nightie, and decide where you would spend your money.

Your mathematical skills are similar to the Franzoni’s.

  9. nightcrawler says:

    Steve,

I get the math, more than you know. No question about the need to spend money wisely. The problem was in the execution of the withdrawl. In business, you close unprofitable stores and move on, regardless. In politics, you try not to burn bridges or in this case villages.

I believe even the Michigan GOP Chairman was miffed on how this was handled. Imagine all the GOP ground troops coordinating picnics, booths, offices and voter registration activities on behalf of McCain who turn on CNN or FOX to only to hear “McCain is pulling out of Michigan”.

Again, I agree with the moment of money, the issue was the public relations disaster that ensued.

  10. Rita says:

    Nightcrawler:

The pull-out of McCain resources from Michigan pointed out that Obama lied when he promised to use the public campaign finance regulations. His lie is your loss.

  11. RA says:

Between stories like this, the “cash back” promises to taxpayers of the Obama Democrats, and the whole ACORN cesspool, I’m reasonably certain that voter bribery is already hitting new heights in this election – and I fear that when it’s all over we will have the best government that money can buy.
