Member of the Phoenix Union governing board could face up to 6 months in jail and fine of up to $2,500

The Rev. Jarrett Maupin II, an Al Sharpton protégé and former Phoenix mayoral candidate, was arrested this afternoon on misdemeanor charges of making a false report, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

Maupin, 21, ran against Mayor Phil Gordon in a 2007 contest but was bumped from the ballot after the County Clerk’s Office determined that nearly 185 of the signatures that sealed Maupin’s spot in the race were collected by convicted felons.

Sheriff’s officials did not immediately reveal the nature of Maupin’s false allegation against Gordon, other than to say Maupin took a complaint about Gordon breaking the law to sheriff’s deputies.

A subsequent investigation showed Maupin lied about the allegation and about having proof of the allegation, according to a statement from the Sheriff’s Office, according to a report in the daily.

My goodness! What a surprise! This arrogant little scoundrel learned quite a bit at the knee of Al Sharpton. But this ruse is tame next to Sharpton’s Tawana Brawley phony rape allegations against innocent defendants.

  2. Jonathan says:

And like Sharpton, Maupin will consider this arrest a badge of honor.

  3. Night Owl says:

Tsk, Tsk. Maupin is a media hog and a race baiter. Sorry, but I’m no fan.

  4. George says:

This is a tough one. Who deserves lock-up more? Think I would have to go with Gordon over Maupin here. Keep Maupin free so he can keep trying.

  5. Republican in LD-6 says:

You neglect to note that he admits to making the thing up.

What an idiot. And, we have him on a school board? That’s a joke. He just cost the taxpayers months of salaries for investigators to check-out claims he knew were false. He should be impeached and removed from elected office.

  6. Chuck A. says:

Sad! I think Phil is a pea-poor Mayor, Phil or anyone else does not deserve to be “framed” if Jarrett is found guilty he should be a guest of Joe’s for a few months and pay retribution!

Filing a false report means he lied to investigating officers. It seems pretty clear to us. The link provides further information about this weasel.
We agree with you about the necessity of his removal from office.

My son went to school with Maupin. He borrowed mon ey and it took months for my son to get it back……and this kid is supposed to be a spiritual leader but he lacks the internal moral fiber to be anything other than an Al Sharpton wanna be…….not that Al Sharpton is anything to emulate. And, for the record he WAS kicked out of BCP…..
