And these people vote

When a sampling of 2,634 American adults were asked whom they admired enough to call their No. 1 hero, the majority of respondents answered “President Obama.”

In the new online Harris poll, citizens chose Jesus Christ as No. 2, followed by Martin Luther King, according to a UPI report.

Others in the top ten, in descending order, were Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley Sullenberger (the pilot who landed his jet safely in the Hudson River), and Mother Teresa, according to Harris Interactive.

God was 11th

The respondents were not provided a list of names. They named their “heroes” spontaneously. The poll was conducted January 12-19.

In the first such survey, in 2001, Jesus was first, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., was second and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell was third. Obama wasn’t mentioned.

Appalling! This speaks volumes about the Obama supporters. Have they forgotten this socialist puts his pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us? Placing him before Jesus, with God coming in at a distant 11th tells the whole story.

Eric Holder, the U. S. Attorney General implies we are a bigoted nation saying American are unable to discuss issues of race. Interesting then that a Caucasian majority would select three black men…Martin Luther King, Colin Powell, and Barack Hussein Obama, as their heroes.

This reminds me of when the Beatles said they were more popular than Jesus.

This what we get with public education and mega doses of “popular culture.”

Comparing Obama to Jesus Christ is beyond the pale. Jesus gave his life for his people while Obama is so ego-centric it’s not funny. I am so sick of this guy getting accolades for no reason. He has no record of accomplishments and is compared to our greatest presidents for no valid reason. He was hand picked, bought and paid for by the Dem machine and we, the people, are going to be paying for the mistake for the next 4 years. Hopefully the veil will be lifted as we can prevent him from occupying the White House for 8!

AZ Conservative Gal – Eric Holder is a loose cannon – large bore and highly destructive. Holder and others can and will say things like that because image trumps substance every day. There’s already been a lot of debate about this quote and it already has been used to denigrate Americans of Caucasian ancestry rather than all Americans. For my part I am heartily sick of the “race debates” which have no place for any Caucasians other than as targets.

God as #11 – hey, that was Napoleon Solo’s number from “Man From U.N.C.L.E.”… But I have to wonder if it’s at all appropriate to include God in a list of heroes. Heroes are ordinary people acting extraordinarily – in accordance with the best values of mankind – despite mortal danger, therefore the hero has to be mortal. God is beyond mortal considerations – Jesus Christ was not.
Considering the people on the list in view of the connotation offered above, I’d have to conclude that Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, John McCain, John F. Kennedy, Chesley Sullenberger (the pilot who landed his jet safely in the Hudson River), Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa qualify – but Barack Obama does not – at least not at present. I am not sure that I could include Ronald Reagan, George W. Bush, or Colin Powell on that basis either without further research and consideration although I hold all three at various levels of esteem.
