PAChyderm Coalition GOP legislator rankings

The PAChyderm Coalition, a Reagan Republican organization, has just released its weekly cumulative evaluations of legislators. The assessment will be updated weekly until the conclusion of the legislative session. This list reflects legislative actions as of 3/20/09. It was last updated 3/23/09.

Along with the rankings is a narrative by Howard Levine. It provides important information about the evaluation system.

Things that make you go hmmmm…

Sen. Jonathan Patton rates higher than long established stalwart conservatives. Me thinks this says more about Sen. Patton than it does the others.

Sen. Steve Pierce does not appear to be living up to his billing as a more dependable conservative than the Republican Senator he knocked out of the primary, encumbent Tom O’Halleran.

Sen. Al Melvin and Sen. John Nelson in the bottom 3?

Rep. Lucy Mason looks out of place in the middle of the pack. A “yes” vote on Napolitano’s last “budget.”

Rep. Quelland and Rep. Weiers? Two of our stalwart conservatives.

I understand this is a snapshot and not a final ranking. It would be handy if PAChyderm took a look at the most surprising few results and commented on them.

Looking at the big picture, I say keep up the great work PAChyderm Coalition, looking forward to see how things progress.

The “weights” and “evaluations” are helpful. Some of the legislative rankings are puzzling at this point, but from what I read in the narrative, I expect them to straighten themselves out as the session progresses. Still, I wonder how Sen. Ron Gould scored an 80.8 as he did.

“Hierarchically Organized Weighted Average Reporting Database, and Legislators Evaluated In Nearly Everything.”

I rank H.O.W.A.R.D. L.E.V.I.N.E. Number 1 Legislature Watcher! Thanks for the great tool Howard. I’ll watch my legislators a little more closely than I used to and probably vote accordingly.

It looks like this charting takes a great deal of time. I enjoy seeing what the numbers look like from week to week, and the weights are interesting to follow.
    Thanks SRA and Howard Levine.

Thanks also to Pachyderm Chairman Don Goldwater and their Executive Board for providing key support and resources to Levine in this innovative breakthrough for legislative tracking.

Having this information weighted, rated and available in real time has never been done before and is helpful for both the elected officials and the voting public.
