Janet Napolitano: “Right-wing extremists” pose national security threats

Returning U.S. military vets singled out as particular threat

A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed “right-wing extremists” concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats, according to a report in WorldNetDaily.

The report, titled “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” dated April 7, states that “threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts.”

“Proposed imposition of firearms restrictions and weapons bans likely would attract new members into the ranks of right-wing extremist groups as well as potentially spur some of them to begin planning and training for violence against the government,” the report continues. “The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by right-wing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.”

Most notable is the report’s focus on the impact of returning war veterans.

“Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to right-wing extremists,” it says. “DHS/I&A [Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis] is concerned that right-wing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize veterans in order to boost their violent capacities.”

You must read THIS to see how conservatives are now viewed by those in power in Washington, DC.

Arizonans know Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano well. We were glad to see her leave to join the Obama brigade. But the damage she did while Arizona governor seems tame when weighted against the potential she has to do real damage on a national level. If patriotic returning military personnel and conservative Republican citizens are suspect, this nation is in more serious shape than we could ever imagine.

  1. Doug Johnson says:

So let me get this straight. Conservative Republicans are security risks and a national threat but the free-wheeling liberals like the ACORN hooligans are swell? I don’t think so.

  2. Joe Kaforney says:

“The high volume of purchases and stockpiling of weapons and ammunition by right-wing extremists in anticipation of restrictions and bans in some parts of the country continue to be a primary concern to law enforcement.” It is not limited to right-wing extremists but, rather, mom and pop Americans that can read and understand the Second Amendment. If they are a concern to law enforcement, we need to start thinking about changing law enforcement.

  3. Maggie says:

This woman (?) is the real security threat. Obviously she slept through her law school class when the Second Amendment was being taught.

  4. Carl in LD19 says:

I’d offer that snaggle tooth Napolitano and her buddy Obama are worried about the repurcussions they’re going to face with their treasonous behaviour, direliction of duty and complete disregard for the US Constitution. If your getting nervous Janet, maybe you should. We citizens have had enough already of this administration and their future plans. The water is going to get hot soon. And BTW law enforcement by and large is on the peoples side so you have no enforcement arm either. Your National Civil Defense Force goon squad is not on line, yet.
Plus they would be outnumbered 100-1.
Go ahead and bring it lefties. You are going to lose. And the repurcussions of that loss, well, you’ll see.

  5. Carl in LD19 says:

    The new Democratic party motto:
“It’s not Fascism when we do it!”

  6. Jack says:

Last I checked, we still had a Second Amendment!!!

  7. American Dad says:

I proudly identify myself as a “Right-wing extremist” and a National security threat — along with being a Marine who served my country, a husband and a pro-life father, self-supporting and law abiding citizen, and a gun owner who wants to see an end to illegal immigration. If this list of what I consider attributes makes me suspect, than I accept the title with pride. Janet Napolitano is a disgusting fraud masquerading as a woman. It would take more than a string of pearls to pull that charade off, JNo.

  8. RA says:

    Reno redux.
I can’t believe the demonization of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans by this clownish DHS report.

  9. Hometown Guy says:

It appears our government has become our enemy…or is it the other way around? This is a sad state of affairs.

  10. Carl in LD19 says:

I agree Hometown. As a former enlisted and subsequent Army officer I am ashamed at these elected officials entrusted with the duty to serve this nation. They are on the whole a disgrace right up to the sitting President. The whole lot of Congress isn’t much either. We need to face some facts folks. We are going to have to stand up to our government in ways other than just the voting booth for immediate future.

And when the government tells us to do something, think about it first. It may be perfectly ok to tell them no. And don’t be afraid about it. I have already played several scenarios out in my mind and I know what I will do. And I am perfectly comfortable with it.

Life is not worth living with someones boot on your throat. I would much rather resist.

  11. Carl in LD19 says:

And I’ll add that in the end these lefties are nothing more than maggots. They’ll make the rules alright but they need someone else to do the dirty work. Because they are cowards they are unable to do it themselves.

The men and women of the LEO community are there because they know the difference between right and wrong by and large. They have some large decisions to make because they are going to have to disobey their superiors at some point here in the near future. Or they will become part of the problem and be identified as being against those supporting the US Constitution. That would identify them as the enemy. Not a good position to be in and definitely the wrong stance.

I bet against them being that way. They’re better than that.

  12. debc says:

This is more upsetting than almost anything I have read, Oh yeah..

They attack the military, to throw off the tea parties, just makes me want to yell louder!

These liberals are so out of line!

  13. ???? says:

I am trying to find and download the report from DHS. Several sites are providing links but none of them are connecting. Is this my computer or is damage control happening? Could someone leave a reliable link to the report or confirm that it has disappeared?
This should be a huge story covered by every network for at least a week straight. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts. Imagine the same report issued under the previous administration citing environmental, animal rights, or Muslim extremists?

  14. seeingredaz says:

The DHS report is right here:

    http://images.logicsix.com/DHS_RWE.pdf

It was linked in the first sentence of the post above, under the words, “Department of Homeland Security Report.” We just tried it and it works.

  15. George Teegarden says:

Liberals’ policies must be disguised to be accepted by the majority of Americans. When Americans learn they were deceived, they get angry. This makes Libs paranoid with good reason. Their paranoia leads them to commit desperate and despicable acts. Ruby Ridge and Waco come immediately to mind.

The DHS report seems to be disappearing from the net now that the public is aware of it. If you haven’t read it, a copy is available and downloadable from: http://www.trugop.org/PDF_Documents/DHS_RightWingExtremistReport.pdf

  16. Freethinker says:

Carl in LD 19. Your words are chilling and lend credibility to the concerns expressed in the report. And not one peep of protest from the other posters.

So you plan to resist the Constitution by means other than the voting booth? I’m a veteran so hear this. You think you’re a patriot but you’re more of a wannabe anarchist. And possibly much worse.

  17. Night Owl says:

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I find this type of talk from our government officials to be chilling. These people used to be called public servants, Now we have congressmen who can’t enter a room without an entourage and speak of removing elected party leadership — while our cabinet level people in DC are accusing American citizens who believe in their Second Amendment rights and consider pre-born life to be valuable, of being unstable and tags them as Right Wing Extremists!

  18. Carl in LD19 says:

Freethinker, you are misjudging my intent. I will stand up for and defend the US Constitution against my government if necessary. That is not anarchy. And yes when you have the POTUS looking to throw elections by seizing the census bureau and funding fraudulent groups like ACORN there is no telling what the so called “elections” may look like. We need to be vigilant. We can not allow elections to become meaningless. I hope that clarifies my position somewhat.

  19. Southern Gentleman says:

At least they concisely listed the problems that are being created by the present left wing extremist administration. If I am concerned with these topics, does that make me a “right wing extremist” or a “white supremacist”? If it does then this country is on the last section of the slippery slope into the depths of history.

May God Save the United States From the Obama Gang!

  20. debc says:

Acorn are paid thugs, paid for by our money,

You say we are anarchist? We are upholding our constitutional rights. The US military, are everyday men and women, who pay an extreme price for our govts whims.

They can’t speak against our govt, but I can, Support your military! if you think the comments made by an un named source is right, by homeland security, was uncalled for.

“We the people” those words have never made me so proud before,

  21. SusanR says:

“Right wing extremist” = everyone that’s not a communist to the new regime.

  22. Freethinker says:

Thank you for your clarification, Carl. Disagreement with the policies of our government is common. Our Constitution is our social contract. It provides peaceful means for changing bad policies – through the ballot box and the courts. Given the way things are set up here – in a contract agreed to by the People – violent resistance is almost never a valid option. Not when there are so many lawful and effective ways to bring about change. Even non-violent resistance or civil disobedience is an option, albeit an illegal one, since the protesters know that by going to jail they’ll draw attention to their cause and possibly bring about the change they seek. Examples from the left and right abound: draft resisters in the 1960s and tax protesters today. Here’s another concern – we Americans need to cool down the rhetoric against one another. It’s like we’re becoming two separate countries. When our soldiers died in WWII and in our other wars, the blood of Democrats and Republicans alike was shed. I read the referenced report allegedly published by DHS – and in my view it doesn’t aim at conservatives or Republicans or service members in general. Only those who might become radicalized enough to use violence. Like Timothy McVey – a conservative ex-soldier who blew up the Murrah Building. It actually happened. It could happen again. And I certainly hope that our government is keeping an eye on potential domestic terrorists on the radical left – I say this without suggesting that they’d thereby be damning all Democrats or liberals or service members who share their views. By the way, so many of these “reports” issued by groups like WorldNetDaily are designed to keep people stirred up. Often their “reports” are debunked as fabrications (e.g., the story reported as “news” by WorldNetDaily a few years ago that Clinton authorized the US Flag to be lowered on a US warship when he sailed into Vietnam, which turned out to be totally false when Clinton flew to Vietnam). Democratic stewardship requires us to guard against our being so easily manipulated and used. I admire your passion, but I look for clear thinking and sober judgment too. I would certainly consider it my duty to support our (Republican or Democratic) government in the event of an armed uprising, coup d’etat or pusch unless there’s been a TOTAL breakdown in our social contract and there’s clearly NO other way to preserve our rights. The oath taken by our honored service members requires them to do no less.

  23. Carl in LD19 says:

    Freethinker,
    Thank you.
I am not optimistic about this current Federal administration or the Federal government overall. It is too big, spends too much money and there is too much criminality.
We need term limits. Two terms in office and go find another gig. We need to rotate more talent through the turnstiles.

  28. taggteam says:

I just heard of the report today. As I read your comments, I can’t help but wonder why we can’t figure out how to make a serious change. Voting booths are not enough – Ted Kennedy keeps getting re-elected but I have yet to find a MA citizen who voted for him.

Here is my proposition – take it or leave it. As the taxes continue to increase, the budget expand, and the economy dip, I find it incredulous that we are being forced to pay the members of congress a minimum of $174,000 for doing a part-time job and they control the power to give themselves a pay raise whenever they choose.

Write to your representatives and demand that they take a paycut of at least 50% or they will find themselves losing in their next bid for election. Email everybody you know and request they do the same. I can’t imagine that congress would ignore such a request if enough people throughout the US is contacting them.

  29. N Waff says:

    Dear President Obama,

In 2004, congress introduced legislation called the “End Racial Profiling Act” to stop the offensive discriminatory act of stereotyping ordinary citizens as criminals. The ACLU said this act was “a key step in the fight to ensure that no one in America is subject to law enforcement encounters based on crude bias.” Now, your administration, under Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, has committed the same criminal act against our citizens, denying them equal protection and, instead, holding them under criminal suspicion because they hold a conservative political position. This action taken by your administration is offensive, un-American and has already eroded the trust between citizens, the federal government and law enforcement. It needs to be retracted and the appropriate disciplinary action needs to be taken against those who implemented this federally sanctioned discrimination. I am requesting your prompt attention to this matter.

    Regards
