Napolitano stands by disreputable “right-wing extremist” report

Leading Democrat says he’s ‘dumbfounded’

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano says she was briefed before the release of a controversial “intelligence assessment” and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans, Second Amendment, and pro-life supporters among terrorist risks to the United States.

You read that correctly!

But the top House Democrat with oversight of the Department of Homeland Security said in a letter to Ms. Napolitano that he was “dumbfounded” that such a report would be issued.

“This report appears to raise significant issues involving the privacy and civil liberties of many Americans — including war veterans,” said Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, in his letter sent to Napolitano.

The letter was representative of a public furor over the nine-page document since its release. The Washington Times carries the complete report here.

Seeing Red AZ covered Janet Napolitano’s offensive “intelligence assessment,” including a copy of the outrageously insulting report here. The report has been removed from many sites and our previous links were not working late yesterday. However this one is reliable.

Yesterday, we had nearly 2,000 hits on that single post.

Accolades to Mississippi Democrat Rep. Bennie Thompson. He has the fortitude to call this report out for what it is – “dumbfounding.” Napolitano should be ashamed, but she doesn’t have the capacity to realize that.

I tried calling DHS several times today to register a complaint but no one is picking up. Our tax dollars at work folks.

This report is laughably inappropriate to the challenges to domestic security faced by the U.S. It makes absolutely no sense to waste agency resources on this drivel when, as the report itself admits, “The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific information that domestic rightwing* terrorists are currently planning acts of violence.”

However, we ARE aware that China, India and Russia have been actively involved in compromising our utility, economic and defense infrastructures:

It makes absolutely no sense to waste DHS resources in this speculative way when one of the most violent and fastest-growing gangs in the world – MS-13 – is setting up shop in the U.S. and committing crimes against U.S. citizens – of all races – daily.

Last but not least, it makes absolutely no sense to waste DHS resources in this manner when Islamic terrorists are recruiting within the U.S. for domestic-based terrorism cells:

The U.S. should file Napolitano under “Man-Caused Disasters” pronto, before her imitation of Janet Reno gets us all in real trouble.

    M. Savage has filed suit against Napolitano.

  5. Lyn says:

Wow how galling can Napolitano get? After all the controversy she still claims ownership of the report and the government paranoia against its own citizens. What a pathetic woman. It was bad enough when she stopped workplace ICE raids and enforcement of other illegal immigration laws. Now she wants to intimidate law-abiding Americans.

And all this in just the first few months. I wonder how bad things are going to get for us.

Another wonderful appointment by B.O. She needs to be fired posthaste, but then who would do his dirty work to front for amnesty?

What in the world is going on here? My husband will soon be retiring & I am a Vet. We are surrounded by heroes every day as we live on base. Ms. Napolitano won’t allow the word “terrorist” to be used for “terrorists” as it is imfamatory, but she will use it against our vets. I & many of my military friends are very outraged about this. This is what happens when we have so many people in high positions who have absolutely no clue about the wonderful men & women who lay it on the line & sacrifice daily for the freedom & protection of this great nation.

I am so tired of elitest who have such a deep disdain for our military. WE ARE NOT THE PROBLEM!!!! AMERICA IS NOT THE PROBLEM!!!!! We are not perfect, but why do you think so many people want to come to our country?! I think people in power need to step out of their ivory towers & walk amoung the many masses who make up this great nation. All of their lofty ideas & higher education has blinded them to reality & flawed thier thinking.
