Bizarre race-based system of discipline for Tucson Schools

Doug MacEachern, writing for the daily, gives us the lowdown on the insanity within Tucson Unified School District’s (TUSD) leftist, race-obsessing board of governors — as they take “racial bean-counting to preposterous extremes.”

Along with recruitment of an increased number of minority teachers, and expansion of the racist based Raza-studies program, the board is calling for a two-tiered form of student discipline. One for Black and Hispanic students; one for everyone else.

With the goal of creating a “restorative school culture and climate” that conveys a “sense of belonging to all students,” the board is insisting that its schools reduce its suspensions and/or expulsions of minority students to the point that the data reflect “no ethnic/racial disparities.”

You read that right!

District principals and disciplinarians will set two standards of behavior for their students — based entirely on race. Some behavior will be met with strict penalties; some will not. It all depends on the color of the student’s skin, MacEachern writes. Do yourself a favor and read his Viewpoints article.

Syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin has spotlighted MacEachern’s column.

  1. Matt DeGennaro says:

So let me get this straight…if a minority student commits the identical infraction/crime a white student does, the white student receives punishment and the minority is given a pass?

What message does this send to either one of them? This policy will foster both race resentments and entitlement mentalities and serve neither group well.

  2. Carl in LD19 says:

How is it possible for a leadership group to come up with this nonsense? Totally un-American and logically makes no sense whatsoever. Remove and replace these idiot whack jobs.

  3. Sideliner says:

These are not “leadership groups,” Carl. They are social engineers who are outcome-based manipulators, and care nothing at all about students, education, actual learning or the betterment of society or this country. We are witnessing radical La Raza racists in charge of the system whose goal is to undermine the USA.

  4. Chuck says:

This could only happen in the People’s Republic of Pima! Can’t something be done to bring some sanity to this district? I am appalled that something so outrageous could have the stamp of approval of administrators. Tom Horne, where are you?

  5. Flying V says:

Small wonder more people are choosing options other than government schools. How would you like to send your children to a school in this monstrosity of a district? Also, as I read this, I wondered what category do mixed race children fall in? What about Asians?

  6. Jana Simmons says:

My children would be out of this school so fast, their heads would be spinning! These administrators and teachers should all be fired. This is why tenure stinks!!

I used to work in the Tucson area a few days per week and thought I was working in Mexico. Even the Convention Center artwork celebrates Mexican heritage. The Desert Sonoran Museum was flying the Mexican flag along with the American flag and then decided to take down BOTH when protests erupted. The local gaming casino flies both flags. Catering to illegals is rampant. The whole area is one sick joke.

Is this what civil rights advocates fought for? Is this what MLK Jr had in mind? I seriously doubt it.
If they are trying to: 1. stir up race tensions and 2. set themselves up for a juicy lawsuit, then I would say that TUSD is right on target.

Jan Brewer and Tom Horne need to stop this immediately and send a message that this kind of action will not be tolerated in Arizona.

Excellent article, Mr. MacEachern. Too bad it had to be written. Someone in authority is asleep at the switch. Doesn’t State Schools Superintendent Horne and/or the State Board of Education have oversight in this matter?

Oh it gets even better than that. I posted today the goals of the TUSD RAZA program. They include the following, Students will attain an understanding and appreciation of historic and contemporary Mexican American contributions. students will be prepared for dynamic, confident leadership in the 21st Century.

The Department is firmly committed to the following with an academic focus:

Advocating for and providing culturally relevant curriculum for grades K-12.

Advocating for and providing curriculum that is centered within the pursuit of social justice.

Advocating for and providing curriculum that is centered within the Mexican American/Chicano cultural and historical experience.

    Be afraid, you white honkies……..
