SB 1070: Signed, sealed and delivered!

Saying “I firmly believe it represents what’s best for Arizona,”  Gov. Jan Brewer announced that she has signed Senate Bill 1070 into law, making it a state crime to be in the country illegally.

“Respect for the rule of law means respect for every law,” said Brewer, a Republican. “People across America are watching Arizona, she warned. “I will not tolerate racial discrimination or racial profiling in Arizona.”

“We…have been more than patient waiting for Washington to act,” Brewer added. “But decades of inaction and misguided policy have created a dangerous and unacceptable situation.

Brewer’s decision came just hours after Democrat President Obama called the proposal “misguided.”

The law goes into effect in 90 days.

    Finally, guts in government!

And special salute to Az State Sen. Frank Antenori who took on a liberal, left-wing California Congressman just minutes ago on MSNBC, defending SB1070 and Arizona’s plight with the border.

    • Janelle says:

There is an old saying — No guts, no glory. Usually this refers to a single person or group and indicates demonstrating guts will engender glory.

In this case, Russell provided almost all the guts and, after four days without a signing ceremony to raise personal media highlights, the Brew Crew were primed and ready to take all the glory. A little too familiar like the recurring dramas written by Cheesy Chuckie. I for one do not like her preening when she did not take an active part in securing the votes.

  2. Kent says:

BRAVO!! Kudos to Gov. Brewer! This action will ensure her election. Now, ditch the tax, Governor.

  3. Everyman says:

Brewer has shown unflinching courage in the face of strong opposition and hurling of invectives by those who prefer borderless nations, which of course are no nations at all.

  4. Hunter says:

It’s good that Brewer signed the bill. As for requiring courage, I don’t think so. Had she vetoed the bill, it would have effectively ended her run for the Republican nomination.

  5. Ajo Joe says:

She was getting hit from every side. That’s where the courage came into play. She’s also taking a pounding on the sales tax increase. It would have been political suicide to veto the bill while pushing the tax.

    • John Q says:

With an 84% approval rating for the bill from Republicans who will be voting in August, exactly where is the guts??

  6. Dennis O'Brien says:

This is from JD Hayworth’s website:
“The Governor did the right thing by signing Senate Bill 1070 into law. It mirrors the ‘Enforcement First Act’ I authored five years ago in the United States House of Representatives. As John McCain and others serving in Washington have alternated between inaction and amnesty, Arizona acted decisively today to enforce the rule of law and truly secure our border.”

  7. TeaPartyPatriot says:

Go ahead, hussein, and make my day: support ILLEGALS over Arizona citizens.

  8. Doc says:

T.P.P.-That’s EXACTLY what th’ head muslim’s gonna’ do, my friend. Th’ “justice dept” (yeah right, whatever…) is already lookinG into ways to subvert this piece of OVERWHELMINGLY CITIZEN SUPPORTED LEGISLATION. Which should come as no surprize to anyone who believes in the Constitution & Liberty. Our president could give a RIP what we want…

Watch for BHO to push for amnesty in order to score points with Hispanics.

Meanwhile, Hispanic teens are walking out of class and daring to be suspended. I hope the schools don’t back down. Their sense of entitlement, thanks to loony left groups like La Raza and Mecha, has been growing over time. They are counting on their high birthrate to put them into majority status in this country. Heaven help us if that actually occurs. Mexamerica anyone?

  10. Doc says:

“U.S. Rep. Raul Grijalva, a Democrat, said he closed his Arizona offices at noon Friday after his staff in Yuma and Tucson were flooded with calls this week, some from people threatening violent acts and shouting racial slurs. He called on businesses and groups looking for convention and meeting locations to boycott Arizona.”

    Whatta’ DOPE!

  11. Ben F says:

One day after Rasmussen polling showed 84% of Republicans and 70% of independents (the only groups who can vote in the August Primary) supported the signing of the bill. What a joke. She had no choice after that poll was released.

  12. […] Signing SB 1070 appears to have upped her ante. Brewer, who was registering only 59% of the Republican vote in their previous poll, is now at 73%. […]
