Business mogul slams Obama administration

“Washington is unpredictable these days,” declares entrepreneur Steve Wynn, developer and CEO of Wynn Resorts. “No one has any idea what’s next…the uncertainty of the business climate in America is frightening, frightening to everybody, and it’s delaying the recovery.”

Wynn expressed concerns about the prospect of inflation, of FHA repeating the mistakes of Fannie and Freddie, and the cost to business from the new healthcare law. “We’re on our way to Greece, in the hands of a confused, foolish government,” Wynn says. “It’s got to stop. It’s got to stop.”

Americans are faced with “wild, uncontrolled spending,” and “unbelievable, unsustainable debt,” Wynn said during an interview with CNBC in Las Vegas.

Wynn quotes French historian Alexis de Tocqueville who brilliantly predicted in 1909: “The American system and democracy will prevail until that moment when the politicians discover they can bribe the electorate with their own money.”

More of Wynn’s caustic observations can be heard in the videos here.

Wynn is right of course. But moving half of his business to Macau, China isn’t going to help the US recover. He’s taking American jobs with him.

Given the BP spill in the Gulf, recovery of states that border the Gulf will indeed be delayed. Tourism will slow. Besides America should not be reduced to a service industry economy.

I do believe the failures of the Bush administration will haunt us for decades to come. One can have reservations, at this time, if the actions of the Obama administration has, or will, stem the tide of monetary damage done by de-regulation, two unpaid for wars and the endless exodus of America’s manufacturing, high-technology, Pharmaceuticals, aviation industry, military contracts and ad-infinitum. You get the picture.

Can America be prosperous again? As America is being sold off to foreign investors piece by piece and her workers lose their jobs to foreign workers overseas, Mexican invaders drive down wages here at home I still have hopes for America but I am extremely worried.

Companies like British Petroleum are held to a damage cap of $75 million (when a $15 million dollar investment at the get-go may have saved the destruction in the Gulf), the Gulf coast may never recover and we add more souls to a lower standard of living.

I believe there is enough blame that can be shared by all Presidents in office for the last number of decades.

I am less optimistic that swapping out those in office now with new ones will change the landscape. I would be more optimistic with a new American revolution.

My Father often said “we will search and search for a leader and we will find none”. A scary thought but he might have been right. Who will save America? It certainly is not what we have now.

    • Sgt. Preston says:

Bush’s “failures” can’t hold a candle to Obama’s overt actions intended to socialize and ultimately break the USA. What are you smoking, pgillenw?

Regardless of what else you have to chaw about, under Bush’s leadership, the US remained safe after Sept. 11, 2001. There was nothing he could do that suited the leftist media, all too eager to lay every ill at his feet. But neither of the Bushes were my favorite presidents. I look back at Reagan with deep admiration. But even he fell prey to the amnesty scam, allowing what was then characterized as 3 million illegals a pass. He later wrote that it was a major regret of his presidency.

      Who do you miss? Carter?

      • pgillenw says:

        Sgt Preston,

I smoke nothing, I am not a leftist but a moderate.

While it is true we haven’t had a major attack since 9/11 we should remember that the planning for that took a number of years before it was finally executed. I don’t believe that our government security apparatus, whether under Bush or any other President, can stop the inevitable. An assault will occur again whether it is a Republican or Democrat in office. Our government, for the most part, is reactive not proactive. Mounting war in the middle-east fuels the flames. We spend, at least, 6 billion dollars a month in Afghanistan, Al Qaeda numbers are less than 3,000, the Taliban have survived many wars raged on them. We build Iraq’s and Afghanistan’s infrastructure while ours degrade further. Our war against terror would be best waged here at home by controlling home grown terrorist, controlling re-entry or entry to our country by foreign nationals whose origin is questionable. Securing our borders and ports should take priority. Did you know that it would be cheaper to pull our troops out of Afghanistan and go back if necessary than to fight a war for years to come. Obama has sadly continued the Bush administration policies in fighting these wars. That decision, in my view, is not wise. The current administration continues with the Patriot Act. Little has changed. The poppy fields of Afghanistan continue to flourish and pay for the war against us and offer aid to those in Pakistan. Bush took little or no action to eradicate the poppies however the Obama administration, at least, recognized that we needed to offer an alternative although, sadly I doubt it will be successful.

Access to healthcare is a human rights issue. You can cloak this right as socialism but it still rings as a humanitarian right that all free nations should offer its people. Besides healthcare will cost each American, it will not be free. Sgt. if you have Medicare or VA healthcare can one not make an argument that those benefits are socialistic in nature? Who among us that paid into Social Security would be willing to give up that socialist benefit. One could argue that Medicare is more beneficial to the healthcare insurers than to the Medicare recipient. How is this so? The insurance you have at 65 automatically becomes the supplement. Insurers liability is now 20% compared to let’s say 80%. A person making $85,000 per year pays the same Medicare per month as a person making $14,000. Yet I doubt the higher income earners give up the benefit. I do think attempts to keep people more healthy benefits all.

While Carter was not popular during his reign he was as history shown a decent man and I might add an IQ that over shadowed Mr. Bush to the point that Bush appears as an idiot. Don’t get your hair up on your back, I don’t think he was an idiot. He was backed by a smart shadow government e.g. Cheney.

I liked Reagan as well even though he to left us with a deficit that had to be faced (nothing compared to Bush). And I agree his amnesty scam has cost us dearly.

Sgt. I believe we must wait a little longer to know if the Obama administrations actions to stay the down ward spiral into the abyss of a deeper depression has worked. School is still out on this one.

It saddens me but the USA is already broken long before Obama took office. I am not a fan of Obama, I did not vote for him and I did not vote for McCain. I was a Ron Paul fan. I am a registered member of the American Independence Party. I do recognize that even as a registered Independent that I have I do stray from some of their philosophy’s.

Obviously I am not a Bush/Cheney fan but nor am I an Obama fan. I remain critical of our government whether under Republican or Democrat ruled. After all it, so far, is a relative free country.

Now someone else can take a bite out of me (smiles).

  3. boo says:

Hey, DeTocqueville wrote that or something like it in 1832 and by the way he died in 1859. And yeah, the poor many are already taxing the heck out of the rich few.
His book “Democracy in America” in way ridicules both democracy and America. But taken together two wrongs do make a right, he seems to say. In French.

  4. seeingredaz says:

Oops! Boo is right about the date discrepancy. This was part of Wynn’s quote, which we used as stated. Thank you for your eagle eye, Boo.

  5. Ross Wolf says:

Steve Wynn is correct; our country is in the hands of a confused, foolish government that is spending wildly, incurring unsustainable debt; causing uncertainty in the U.S. business climate—that is frightening everybody, delaying economic recovery.

Historically, when Socialists like Obama have been elected to government, they thrive like cancer—targeting healthy economic markets and individuals with new and higher taxes to pay for public welfare programs. Obama is a red diaper baby that inherently does not represent Americans, but a Marxist ideology—that mandates forcing socialism on U.S. Citizens—even if that destroys the economy in addition to voiding their Constitution. Obama’s has already forced unaffordable health insurance, new taxes and regulatory costs on businesses that will inhibit investment and hiring of new employees for years. One can’t help wonder what might happen politically in America if the Obama government stopped extending unemployment and other assistance paid millions of Americans: In other countries where the economy and government went broke, millions of unemployed and others dependent on government handouts responded, by voting socialists into power. If Obama spends America into bankruptcy, it is foreseeable millions of disparate Americans might accept, even welcome a hybrid form of Marxist/socialism.

Obama appears intended to weaken or kill the spirit of American individualism. If Obama-ism is not stopped it will spread like a disease infecting our youth, inspiring a form of Marxist-socialism that will destroy our quality of life. Let there be no doubt—Patriots are at War with those in our nation that intend a rein of RED TERROR on the principals that made America great. America’s greatest threat is not from foreign enemies, but from Marxists that slithered into U.S. Government; leftists indent on curtailing our Constitution and Freedom so that they can force their leftist Ideology on Americans.

Is Obama A Defacto President? Obama in some respects resembles Hitler. Obama like Hitler has centralized power in the national Government by getting legislation passed the U.S. government can use to intimidate and threaten businesses and corporations. Hitler got similar laws passed to strong-arm and arrest business owners and corporation executives that opposed the Nazi Government. In 1933 Hitler used his new laws to coerce corporations and others to support passage of Fascist Legislation that suspended parts of the German Constitution, crushing the civil liberties of German Citizens. Hitler told Parliament the changes would be temporary. Then after Parliament voted for the changes, Hitler told Parliament, “If you have any legislation, bring it by, I will decide if it should become law.” Hitler had successfully dissolved Parliament. Hitler lied. Obama is now approaching a position where he can use similar new laws, including the Patriot Act and 200 asset forfeiture laws to seize any corporation or individual’s assets without probable cause; including threaten, extort, arrest or detain indefinitely any U.S. Citizen or Corporate executive that would dare oppose his economic, political or legal policies.

This President blatantly discards the U.S. Constitution and is numb to the Majority Will of the American People. It is very clear that if Obama and his ilk are not voted out of office America is finished.

    • pgillenw says:

I don’t believe any President “can kill or weaken our individualism” unless we the people are willing to give it up.

      • TOLL FOR THEE says:

And I think that being politically correct, silent, or complacent are modern manifestations of giving up.

And can a president/administration that tars those who speaks against him/them as racists/terrorists in a politically correct environment brought about by the the left’s control of public schools/media be said to kill or weaken individualism? Certainly.

I agree with some of your assumptions about politics and presidents. However, for you to miss the explicit agenda of this administration in moving our country toward socialism is ridiculous.

When your father predicted a time when leaders couldn’t be found, I wonder if he knew then that they would be riding the fence unable or unwilling to make a commitment under the guise of independence?

  6. pgillenw says:

TOLL FOR THEE, Your response is elegant. Perhaps I am being naive in not committing to the belief that Obama and his minions are moving us ever towards socialism. I would like instead to hold on to the belief that “we the people” will not allow that to happen. Given the up-tick of popularity of Republican candidates in upcoming elections this allows me to believe that “we the people” are not going to take anymore.

I remain skeptical on just who benefits from healthcare reform, will it be the insurance companies or the American people. If it turns out to benefit the insurance companies would we then think it to be socialistic?

In an effort to defend myself, by registering as an independent was to make a statement that I am dis-satisfied by the actions and in-actions of both of the major parties. This is not fence setting but rather an action albeit small in nature.

In the last election for President I saw no viable candidate for that office. I could not bring myself to cast a vote for either Obama or McCain. To vote for either of these characters disturbed me.

  7. Ross Wolf says:

Could Obama Be America’s First Defacto President?

Innocent Americans increasingly are sent to prison based on false evidence manufactured by police forensic crime labs. Now President Obama wants the power to incarcerate U.S. Citizens not on evidence, but for what they might do.

Compare: Two days after the 1933 burning of Germany’s Parliament Building, blamed on communists, Hitler responded with a powerful speech before Parliament. Hitler asked Parliament to suspend sections of the Reich Constitution that protected Citizens’ Rights and Civil Liberties. Hitler said the suspension was necessary so government could protect the homeland from being destroyed by communists. Hitler promised Parliament the Constitution would later be restored. After Parliament passed Hitler’s Discriminatory Decrees and Hitler signed it February 28, 1933, Hitler immediately used the news laws to abolished Parliament. See Hitler’s 1933 Discriminatory Laws below:

Obama gave a speech in May 2010, that proposed incarcerating in indefinite prolonged detention without evidence, any person government deemed a “combatant” or likely to engage in a violent act in the future; that would include U.S. Citizens “without evidence of wrongdoing.” With that amount power Obama could like Hitler arrest members of Congress, drag U.S. Citizens off the street and from their homes to be imprisoned indefinitely based only on Government’s claim they are a “combatant” or likely to engage in a violent act in the future.

If Congress approves Obama’s categories of people likely to engage in violent acts, overnight millions of lawful U.S. activists could be subject to Indefinite Prolonged Detention. When you examine Obama’s speech, it appears Obama wants retroactive power to incarcerate anyone government claims (prior) supported violent acts on the premise, that person is likely to engage in violent acts in the future: U.S. activists would be vulnerable because no activist can control what other activists or groups might do illegally they network with domestically or overseas. Government would only have to claim a person; group or organization might commit a violent act in the future to order Preventative Detention of lawful participants with no evidence whatsoever. Americans would be afraid to speak out.

It is foreseeable any “individual” who writes on the Internet or verbally express an opinion against or entity of U.S. Government or its coalition partners could be deemed a “Combatant” or likely to engage in or cause violent acts: government too easily could claim an author’s writings inspired people in the past and will in the future commit violent acts. It is problematic that indefinitely detained U.S. Citizens not involved in terrorism or hostile activities, not given Miranda Warnings or allowed legal counsel; interrogated, will be prosecuted for ordinary crimes because of their alleged admissions while held in indefinite “Prolonged Detention.”

Obama wants the power to override the U.S. Constitution. Obama wants the power to detain indefinitely without probable cause or evidence, any U.S. Citizen based on conjecture someone might do something violent in the future.

Obama similar to Hitler is centralizing power in the federal Government by getting passed legislation that U.S. government potentially could use to intimidate and threaten businesses and corporations among others. Hitler got similar laws passed shortly before the burning of the German Parliament building blamed on the communists. Immediately after the fire, Hitler used his new laws to coerce corporations and others to support passage of fascist legislation that suspended provisions of the German Constitution that protected Citizens freedoms and civil liberties. Obama is now approaching a position where he can use similar new laws, including the Patriot Act and 200 asset forfeiture laws to seize any corporation or individual’s assets, force corporations and other institutions to support legislation that threatens or curtails the rights of Americans. This President not only intends to void the U.S. Constitution he is numb to the Majority Will of the American People.

DECREE OF THE REICH PRESIDENT FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE PEOPLE AND STATE

Note: Based on translations by State Department, National Socialism, 1942 PP. 215-17, and Pollak, J.K., and Heneman, H.J., The Hitler Decrees, (1934), pp. 10-11.7

Thus, restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press, on the right of assembly and the right of association, and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic, and telephonic communications, and warrants for house-searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.

In addition the sentence my include confiscation of property.

Whoever provokes an inciter to or act contrary to public welfare is to be punished with a penitentiary sentence, under mitigating circumstances, with imprisonment of not less than three months.

Insofar as a more severe punishment has not been previously provided for, the following are punishable with death or with life imprisonment or with imprisonment not to exceed 15 years:

    1. Anyone who undertakes to kill the Reich President or a member or a commissioner of the Reich Government or of a state government, or provokes to such a killing, or agrees to commit it, or accepts such an offer, or conspires with another for such a murder;

    2. Anyone who under Section 115 (2) of the Criminal Code (serious rioting) or of Section 125 (2) of the Criminal Code (serious disturbance of the peace) commits the act with arms or cooperates consciously and intentionally with an armed person;

    3. Anyone who commits a kidnapping under Section 239 of the Criminal with the intention of making use of the kidnapped person as a hostage in the political struggle.

    Section 6
This decree enters in force on the day of its promulgation.
