27-year-old hoodlum: At least the daily didn’t call him an “artist”

But the AP report does diminish Joel Delgado’s thuggish, criminal activity by benignly terming it “tagging.”

Wonder if the reporter would be so blasé if the ruined property was his/her own?

But even the AP’s appalling report was preferable to the garbage pumped out by New Times’ Stephen Lemons, aptly tagged as the Feathered Bastard. He thinks graffiti is an art form that enhances a city.

Thankfully, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office does not agree.

You have uncovered the problem! This is a crime that ruins property and destroys neighborhoods, but is given a pass with soft terms such a “tagging” and “graffiti art.”

It is malicious destruction of property and a strong message of gang activity invading neighborhoods. This creep, who is a grown man, not a teen, deserves the max punishment that can be meted out for his crime.

“Tagging” is a mark, no different than cat piss. It gives off a foul odor and defines a space. In the case of graffiti, the space it defines belongs to other people, who worked hard for their homes and property and want to maintain their areas with respectibility. This is a good post!

Six and a quarter years for defacing 600 sites is about right for Delgado. There is just one other addition I would have added had I been the judge. I would have had his entire home covered with stencils of the Golden Rule: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” An appropriate reminder, don’t you think?

Cool, I’ll go spray paint obscene words all over Stephen Lemons’ car and home, and then we’ll see if it’s “art.”

Our neighborhood playground was recently vandalized with obscene swear words written all over the picnic shelter, and on some of the equipment, too. Looks like they used black Sharpies. Sad and sickening.

This post raises so many questions: Is this guy married? Is he a father? What values does he intend to impart to his children? What does he do to earn a living? This bizarre activity must take a great deal of his time. And the cost to others is incalculable, although he obviously doesn’t care about that and neither apparently does the equally puerile Stephen Lemons.

  6. MuddFlapp says:

Lemons sounds like the kind of guy who gets his jollies by sniffing toilet art in public restrooms. Calling destroyers of property “artists” is like calling foreign invaders “undocumented citizens,” or rapists “highly-focused lovers.”
No wonder this fulsome rag sits piled high on stands every week with few takers.

This Delgado chap caused an estimated $20,000 in damage, which doesn’t count the costs incurred by the people who go out and paint over this crap. That job should be part of his probation when he’s released from his time in the pen. What a scum!!!
