Babeu: Attention even publicity hounds don’t crave

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu’s sordid saga of sodomy, unrequited love and a threat-laced jilting has been making news around the country. From Florida’s Miami Herald to the San Francisco Chronicle, national outlets are reporting that Arizona’s Attorney General Tom Horne has designated Solicitor General Dave Cole to head an investigation into allegations that Babeu abused his power. Horne announced that he’ll recuse himself from the probe since he and Babeu have been political allies in the past.

Babeu, known for his insatiable appetite for publicity, is currently running for Congress in Arizona’s new 4th District. He has requested an investigation into allegations made against him and his office. Last weekend, Babeu acknowledged his homosexuality after Jose Orozco, a Mexican national and former lover, alleged he was threatened with deportation if he ever exposed their relationship.

Babeu was a no show at the Pinal County Board of Supervisors budget meeting yesterday.

Of course Babeu missed the Board of Supervisor’s budget meeting. He was busy trying to sign up for a class that would teach him how to avoid the mirror’s reflection when taking semi-nude photos of himself to send to Men4Men’s gay exchange.

  2. TeaPartyPatriot says:

Babeu has reached a new depth – he has embarrassed responsible, normal Arizona citizens to the same degree as the marxist, extremist, Arizona-boycotter raoul grijalva.

These are the kinds of people one expects to find in hell – and even here it’s nowhere near that hot.

    • Tyler M says:

      Tea Party Patriot,

Your two points might be going a bit over the line here.

First, nobody could possibly embarrass Arizona as much as the “Marxist, extremist Arizona-boycotter Raul Grijalva.” Grijalva despises America & he despises what it means to be an American. Grijalva also fights to keep anti-American hatred taught in schools to Hispanic children. Babeu, with all of his personal faults, has never indicated any hatred toward this country. On the contrary, Babeu retired from the military after 20 years of service. From Wikipedia: “Babeu joined the Massachusetts National Guard as a 21-year-old. He started his service as a Private/E-2 and rose through the ranks to Major in the Arizona Army National Guard. During his tenure he served a tour in Iraq and spent 17 months deployed in Arizona as a Commander with Operation Jump Start (Southwest Border Mission). From 2006 to 2007, Babeu spent 17 months as commander of Task Force Yuma supervising 700 soldiers, where they supported the United States Border Patrol to achieve operational control and reduce illegal immigration. Babeu retired in September 2010 after 20 years of service.”

Your second point about Babeu going to Hell is way over the line . It is not our job to be the Eternal Judge of mankind. Being Judge of this world is something that is reserved for Jesus Christ Himself. Although I strongly disagree with those who practice a homosexual lifestyle, I do believe that they can repent, change & let the Grace of God work in their lives too. This is definitely one of those issues where we have to get the beam out of our own eyes before removing the mote from the eye of someone else. Or as Jesus, who knows all of our sins for he already suffered for them, said: “Let he who is perfect cast the first stone.”

Regardless of any of that, we are required to demand strong moral characters from those who serve us in public office & we have to look at how a person lives his or her life before voting for that person for a public office. As it stands, with Babeu’s huge moral failings, this should be reason enough not to support him for any other office going forward until he makes some serious changes in his life & in his sexual preferences. Of course, as always, the caveat to this is who is the alternative? And as it stands, at least in the Republican Primary, there are two good strong conservatives, who do not appear to have the moral disqualifications of Babeu, that voters in this district could choose instead in this race.

He may not have lusted after exactly this kind of attention, but he’s certainly putting it to good use. Within 24 hours, he was sending out fundraising letters based on the scandal. If there’s one thing life has taught him, it’s that a hustler who’s sufficiently without shame or honor can always find suckers eager to be conned.

    • Ajo Joe says:

Amazing, Francis! “Hustler” is absolutely the right word to describe Babeu. Instead of hanging his head in shame he’s using this spectacle to gin up money? I hope this creep finds the pickings slim.

      • Realist says:

He ginned up more than money – he resurrected fellow traveler Jim Kolbe from political exile and received Kolbe’s endorsement for his Congressional race.
Maybe Jim can show him the “sights” in D.C. Betcha they could have a gay old time…on the taxpayer’s dime.

  4. Another LD11 PC says:

That photo, not unlike Jeff Flake’s which surfaced last year, is offensive.

    • Tyler M says:

      Another LD11 PC-

Both Shirtless Congressman Beefcake’s photo & this photo are offensive. But maybe next time SeeingRed could add a GIANT flashing warning label before he puts up photos like that. I almost threw up when seeing Sherriff “Banana Hammock” Babeu in that photo. Barf!

      • Seeing Red AZ says:

Sorry Tyler. No warnings here. This is an adult site. We consider knowledge to be power. Unfortunately Babeu’s activities are reality and such abhorrent behavior is being condoned by far to many as simply an “alternative lifestyle.” Consider the photo as shock therapy.

Toughen up. You can do it!

  5. Overtaxed1 says:

No wonder he has so many violent illegals in his county. They know a weak link when they see one.

  6. LD 20 PC says:

I do not give a flying flip about his Gaydom, the only thing that matters to me is his political leanings. Paul stood next to McNuts telling all of us “He is one of us”, Oh please Paul was never one of us much less McCain. But please tell me what kind of judgement did he use in taking that picture? To me that is all that should matter, why make fun of his idiotic behavior, just judge him on his common sense, which he has none.

Please get out the race Paul, you got caught by your own hand.

    • Luke says:

I agree that Babeu should get out of the race.
As a Bible believer, I disagree that “Gaydom” should be disregarded. It is behavior which is not normal, thus abnormal, which is, in fact, deviant. Homosexuals can not reproduce themselves, so they troll and recruit the young and easily swayed. They also use and abuse positions of power such as Catholic priests have done for years and Paul Babeu was doing. Scout leaders often used their positions to interact with boys.

    • Tyler M says:

      LD 20 PC,

A person’s moral character is of absolute importance when it comes to who we choose for public office. And if a person chooses to live a homosexual lifestyle, this disqualifies the person’s moral character. It is an abhorrent mortal behavior that causes great harm to our society in general. Nobody is perfect, but we cannot just throw up our arms because of this and say that morals do not matter and that there is no such thing as right or wrong anymore.

But more importantly, when it comes to homosexuality, there are many issues regarding this homosexual rights that Congress deals with directly and often, and if you are a social conservative who does not want the pro-homosexual lobby further changing our culture to try and normalize or promote homosexuality, then it is important to ask candidates what they think about these issues. It would be hard for me to believe that someone like Babeu, who is himself now an open homosexual, would vote the right way when it comes to gay rights. I think it is far more likely that Babeu would vote for the expansion of gay rights. Babeu would be far more likely to: vote against a federal marriage amendment banning gay marriage while voting to overturn the Defense of Marriage Act; push for indoctrination of the homosexual agenda in public schools; push for complete integration of open & flamboyant homosexuals in all parts of the military; and support laws that try to force religious organizations to adopt to homosexual.

  7. LEO IN TSN says:

I, too, was reminded of the semi-nude photo of Jeffie “Blonde-Boy” McFlake that he flashed around the i-world from his desert isle getaway. I wonder if we’ll ever know how many tripods were used in that shoot.

    Character DOES matter.

    God bless America.

    • Nordine Crub says:

Oh for Pete’s sake haven’t you folks ever seen a picture of a shirtless man? There really wasn’t anything that saucy about either the Babeu or Flake pics. It’s not like he was showing anything you couldn’t see in an underwear ad. In fact, I think I remember your President Jerry Ford was an underwear model in a sears catalog before he ran for Congress.
