Rush Limbaugh’s apology to Sandra Fluke apparently isn’t good enough for Carbonite CEO David Friend. Friend is quickly becoming friendless after releasing a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”
But Rush’s supporters will have none of the liberal politically correct spew. Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) is dropping like a hot rock, down nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ yesterday.
Read the Yahoo Finance message board for an indication of the ire behind the stock dumping.
On a hunch, we looked up David Friend’s political contributions on NewsMeat.com. Not surprisingly, we found he has been a donor to Democrat candidates and left-wing causes for many years, funding organizations such as MoveOn.org. He donated to the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, John Kerry and of course Barack Obama, among others. Check him out for yourself:
