Limbaugh’s friends beat down Carbonite’s Friend, & UPDATE

Rush Limbaugh’s apology to Sandra Fluke apparently isn’t good enough for Carbonite CEO David Friend.  Friend is quickly becoming friendless after releasing a statement on his company’s website declaring that Carbonite had decided to “withdraw” advertising from Rush Limbaugh’s radio show because it will “ultimately contribute to a more civilized public discourse.”

But Rush’s supporters will have none of the liberal politically correct spew. Carbonite stock (NASDAQ:CARB) is dropping like a hot rock, down nearly 12 percent, outpacing the drop of the NASDAQ index in that same time period by nine-and-a-half points. It was also one of the biggest decliners on the NASDAQ yesterday.

Read the Yahoo Finance message board for an indication of the ire behind the stock dumping.

On a hunch, we looked up David Friend’s political contributions on Not surprisingly, we found he has been a donor to Democrat candidates and left-wing causes for many years, funding organizations such as  He donated to the presidential campaigns of Al Gore, John Kerry and of course Barack Obama, among others. Check him out for yourself:

Good for Rush. His loyal crowd is dependable! Bravo!

  2. Blackbeard says:

I hope the unfriendly liberal Mr. Friend continues to find himself friendless. Payback is hell!!

  3. VINOAZ says:

Have asked them to cancel my subscription. Let’s see how honorable they are. I have my doubts. I am sick of the double standard and what liberals are able to say and do. Liberalism is a mental and moral disorder.

  4. glynn surdivall says:

Sub standard language was used by Limbaugh making him sound like the”village idiot”.

  5. Jack Hammer says:

Maybe this was the change Mr. Friend has voted for, right? Goodbye carbonite, next…

  6. DeAnn says:

I signed up for Lifelock today. I have been meaning to for awhile but thought I should reward one of the loyal companies.

  7. Sgt. Flapjaw says:

I like what I am reading here today. I don’t believe that organized boycotts work well, but indidviduals can make a diffence in how “Brave” Corporate America can be when it comes to office holders who are anti capitalists.
I have always considered who gets my money based on their overt, or not connection to liberalism. I let them know too, when I have the opportunity.

Copy THAT, Sarge! I 86’d a bank account with a fairly large bank over the Branch Manager’s “in my face” support of o-bow-mao-i’m-sorry. (‘i’m-sorry’ being added to my name for the President over his apology to afghanistan regarding 2 accidental quaran burnings…nary a SINGLE WORD from him over th’ 2 AMERICAN SOLDIERS who were MURDERED over it!!!!! AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!)

    • Night Owl says:

This is exactly why we stopped going to the movies and concerts. How can any conservative justify lining the pockets of the very people who fund our demise by donating to socialists?

There is no actor that good. In truth they are otherwise waitresses and bus drivers who hit a lifetime lottery that made them immensely wealthy beyond their abilities, for reading the words written by other people, and sighing, moaning, laughing and scowling on cue. No matter how well they carry that off, they will never be good enough to give over my children’s future to them.

      • Sgt. Flapjaw says:

        Doc & Night Owl,
The evil forces are feeling the effects of actions and attitudes as more of the population start to realize that you don’t have to join an organization to “starve the beast”. Personal choices of who we want to deal with, and who not can be very affective. Money ultimately rules. If they don’t have so much, they don’t do as much harm and gain some humility as well. Keep up the good work guys!

  8. Bernard says:

I fully expect ALL of the “cancelers” to reappear after a few days/weeks. Of course, nothing will be publicized. I hope that when that happens, Rush effusively welcomes them back as sponsors.

  9. VINOAZ says:

As expected, no response from carbonite on my request for a refund. There are many other choices out there and several are higher rated. A list of dropped sponsors would be nice. If I have a choice I buy American–usually hard to do. Why not buy from individuals and companies who share my values?

  10. DeAnn says:

Sleep Number asked to come back, but Rush said no.

  11. Reuel says:

Are people on foodstamps & people “who want others to pay” going to be Carbonite’s customers?

    • Bernard says:

Thanks for the update. I don’t read any California rags or visit their sites, so I don’t know who says what there.
