NBC’s Williams asks Romney about ‘boring white guy’ VP

Take a look at Mitt Romney’s well aimed serve return:

NBC’s news anchor Brian Williams, who swoons over and bows to Obama, was reading from a script when he brashly asked Romney, the Republican Party’s presumptive presidential nominee, if it’s true he’s seeking an “incredibly boring white guy” for a running mate.

“You told me you were not available,” Romney laughingly shot back, without missing a beat.

“Touché,” Williams replied, losing the trail on that line of questioning.

“I’m not going to announce it this week,” Romney said of his running mate decision.  “It’s not made yet. But I can’t tell you when it’s going to be,” Romney said — effectively shutting down the biased Williams.

Williams needs to have his nose straighted – with a fist or a brick.

This ‘jokingingly’ casual anti-White remark was premeditated. What if Williams had used the term “boriing Black guy” or “boring Brown guy?” Would the NBC switchboard be melting down today? Would there be rabble in the streets at Rockefeller Center? Absolutely!

    • Calypso says:

How right you are!! All hell would break loose if the “guy” in question was black or brown!!

Nothing these news readers say is a joke or unscripted. They work on crafting their words, hoping they will get a perfect sound bite or two that can be played and replayed.

Brian Williams is the devil-spawned successor to the arrogant Peter Jennings.

Remember what Jennings said the day after the GOP sweep of the House and the Senate in 1994?

“The voters had a temper tantrum yesterday.”

    • Frankly Speaking says:

I well remember that line from Peter Jennings, garvan. The alphabet networks are in decline, just as print media is. They are gasping their last breaths while spewing out liberalism and hoping it will be relevant to someone, somewhere.

And, BTW, did you see the story on the Business Insider regarding NBC’s coverage of the Olympics? Even though the opening ceremony is going on right now, TV viewers in the U.S. will only see a time delayed version at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Reason, according to Business Insider:
    Ratings grab.

Mitt Romney does a great job of displaying his wit and savvy here. I especially enjoyed hearing “Touché” from the (very) practiced unflappable Brian Williams.
