76% support Arpaio’s “tough on crime” stance
The desperation of the Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) provides our Friday humor break.
The headline screams: Arpaio’s approval rating sinks to 53% amid birth-certificate probe. Only those living under a rock are unaware that Joe Arpaio is the mega-popular sheriff of Maricopa County, reelected to an unprecedented five 4-year terms.
Most candidates would be tempted to sell their first-born for such stunningly high favorability ratings. Certainly Barack Obama would gladly accept them and is spending $ billions to boost his sagging average approval rating which stands at a paltry 46.9% today.
The fact that this poll was commissioned by radical anti-Arpaio, open-borders activist Randy Parraz makes it even more amusing.
Known for his “tough on crime” stance, Arpaio, a career lawman, won a whopping 76 percent of the poll respondents who expressed support of his efforts. These numbers appear on Parraz’s poll, which intended to portray Maricopa County’s popular sheriff negatively.
Joe Arpaio will easily win re-election.
