AZ Republic’s mugging of Sheriff Arpaio begins in earnest

Blitzkrieg timed to take down our sheriff

This past Friday, we wrote Joe Arpaio: The icon and the insignificant machine, explaining how the dying Periódico de la República de Arizona (ArizonaRepublic) has timed its most vicious bombardment against him to coincide with early ballots.

In that post, we explained how the newspaper, using chicanery and deception to advance its leftwing agenda, began with a small, gray box advertising their anti-Arpaio multi-pronged assault in the Wednesday edition.  The box using the words “A betrayal of trust”  has grown larger each day. Today, in the Sunday edition, it takes up over half of the front page, with six full pages devoted to assaulting Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

We invite you to read Joe Arpaio‘s impressive resume, detailing his lifelong career in public service — first in the military, then as a police officer, followed by his years in federal law enforcement worldwide, culminating with heading the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for the state of Arizona. This was all prior to running for Maricopa County Sheriff, where he has been reelected to an unprecedented five 4-year terms.  The exceedingly popular Arpaio is currently running for his sixth term, which galls the open border/amnesty purveyors at the daily newspaper.

Arpaio is not the easily manipulated, finger-to-the-wind sheriff the newspaper would prefer. He has made a commitment to the citizens of Maricopa County, taking the duties of  his job seriously. He fights back. This was a campaign ad from his previous election. When it comes to the daily newspaper, follow the sheriff’s example:

  1. GOP PC says:

Since Maricopa Country Attorney Bill Montgomery is onboard with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, will the paper be taking him on next? I’ve been at events where they appeared together, clearly supportive of one another.

    • ZOO says:

Governor Brewer is next on the Parraz itinerary. Actually, Bill Montgomery has little to worry about, he is onboard with Bob Worsley, Jerry Lewis, and the McCainettes. Now we know why he endorsed Flake. I will not vote for Montgomery again.

      • Realist says:

Zoo: You know…I don’ t like the McCaineettes either. But, for crying out loud, don’t be upset with Bill Montgomery. I wish we had a hundred like him!

      • ZOO says:

Realist, America’s goal must be full enforcement of the immigration laws – yesterday. Right now, the handful of people in the country who are enforcing the laws are called “hardliners”, “extremists”, etc. While we are busy defending those people (I’ve seen the worry here about Joe Arpaio) our eye is off the ball – and that is exactly the plan. While we are distracted with those who put a mere dent in the invasion, the invaders and their ilk are taking ground every damn day.

As far as Montgomery, I understand you’re willing to overlook his stance because you admire his other exploits. The Republican party is going to RINO-light itself right out of existence and America into Mexico Del Norte. As you read this, invaders our pouring over the border by the thousands (unreported by the media) in a surge triggered by Obama’s teenage fantasy.

A sure fire ticket to Aztlan is for voters to continue to “overlook”, just as they have for over a decade, treasonous vermin like McCain, Kyl, and Flake. After being in this fight for over a decade, I will stand on zero tolerance for politicians. Either they stand for the law and aggressive enforcement, or they don’t. There is no in between and there is no compromise.

      • Tea Partier says:

When Montgomery was angling for an appointment to fill Andrew Thomas’ seat (after he resigned to run for Attorney General), he tried to curry favor with Don Stapley. Stapley secretly taped their entire conversation. Montgomery spoke very disrespectfully of Sheriff Arpaio, who has been a loyal supporter of Montgomery‘s. Politics is a brutal arena. President Harry Truman, who knew the lay of the political landscape, was quoted as saying, “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” The same applies here in Arizona. Trust no one and you’ll never be disappointed.

  2. Frances Majors says:

Impressive resume or not, the problem was Arpaio failed to keep an eye on his command staff. These issues circle back to Hendershott and his direct reports who had their own agendas. Sex cirmes, fraud and other areas that they preveiously investigated fell by the wayside.
Clearly, Arpaio didn’t tell his deputies to not investigate these crimes, but he didn’t engage his staff when the concerns were brought to him. His failure was to reign in Hendershott.
This is where he failed, it speaks to his skills as commander in chief if you will.
Too bad George Gascon isn’t around he would kick serious butt.

    • Seen It All says:

You must be kidding. obviously you’ve bought into the leftist anti-Arpaio mongering, Frances. The one in charge of any office the size of the MC Sheriff’s Office delegates to other professionals. They are called Chief Deputies and their deputy chiefs. No one person can, or should, be expected to know every nook and cranny of any office. If you recall Arpaio fired David Henderschott. And George Gascon was the King of Open Borders when he was with the Mesa PD. Why do you think the mayor of the most liberal city in the USA, Sin Francisco, lured him up there to be the police chief position and then appointed him to fill the vacant District Attorney post ? Gascon (known to many officers in Mesa PD as Gas Can) was born in Havana, Cuba and is bonded to Hispanics — legal or illegal. Get a clue!

Gascon has been holding fundraisers in San Francisco to raise money for Democrat Paul Penzone, the liberal wife-beater who is challenging Joe Arpaio. Have you been living under a rock, Frances? The event Gascon headlined along with California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano(a radical homosexual and illegal alien activist who worked as a stand up comic, and whose “partner” died of AIDS) and Supervisor David Campos (born in Guatemala and who sued the gun industry). The event was called, “Fundraiser to give Sheriff Arpaio the boot.”

Gascon’s such a crude piece of work that he even sent Sheriff Arpaio an invitation to an Italian dinner in the Italian area of North Beach, written in Spanish.

Check it out Frances. You need to wise up: www.

I like this ad also. It was in your Friday post. Hope you don’t mind me lifting it.

  4. Annie O. says:

Such fun and so reassuring to see our Sheriff, a true professional, handle the “Sharptons” of this world.
You want more jobs for American Citizens? Vote for Arpaio!

  5. Sally Forth says:

I’m also a huge fan of Joe Arpaio’s. He’s doing exactly what I and many others elected him to do– Keep the streets of Phoenix safe for Arizona citizens, not the illegals the newspaper prefers to the rest of us.

  6. Saguaro Sam says:

Saw a picture of dozens of people attending a County Board of Supervisors meeting. All supposedly from Sun City. Funny how many of them had small children in tow. All adults holding the same signs saying “Sheriff Joe must go!” Interesting how the picture was taken from the back of the room, so that we could not see who they are. I didn’t see any gray hair, though. Highly suspect.

  7. Fed Up says:

Joe Arpaio is being vilified in order to uplift the segment of our society that costs us dearly in terms of crime, incarceration, education for their kids, health care and numerous other benefits: The newspaper’s beloved illegals.

I wonder how many of this segment subscribe to the Arizona Repulsive? I hear Hispanic mothers in stores speaking to their children in Spanish. You can tell how much they want to assimilate. Not a bit!

  8. Anthem Al says:

In this family ALL of our votes will go to Joe. We are quite happy with his efforts to enforce the law on our behalf. May God grant him many more years of being able to do so.

  9. patriotmom says:

More Joe supporters here. He is the only law enforcement professional who takes illegal immigration seriously, although he has been severely hampered by Nobama. I dread another 4 years of Nobama and his plans for amnesty, although a continuing poor economy under this fool will likely keep some illegals away. Still, I think his plans for amnesty and a permanent Democratic majority are real and even Sheriff Joe can’t save this country from the idiots that will be voting for more phones and other government goodies. Under the Dems, I expect to see my beloved country turned into Chicago on a much larger scale.

  10. Blackbeard says:

I’ve heard that Joe’s daughter is married to the editorial page editor. If that’s actually true, Joe is a saint to be able to interact with him on any level. He’d be privy to all of the sh*t as it’s being readied to be thrown at his own wife’s father.

We have canceled the limited subscription we had to the bird cage liner, and Sunday’s issue was the last we’ll get. You should recommend that Republicans cancel any remaining subscriptions, contact advertisers to tell them their ads won’t be seen, and let the rag die.
