VP Debate – Oct. 11, 2012: Paul Ryan & Joe Biden

Linked to Obama, moderator Martha Raddatz not exactly unbiased

Topic: Foreign and domestic policy
Time: 6:00 p.m. AZ Time (9:00 ET)
Centre College in Danville, Kentucky
Commission on Presidential Debates
Participants: Vice Presidential contenders: Congressman Paul Ryan and V.P.Joe Biden
Moderator: Martha Raddatz* — ABC News Chief Foreign Correspondent

Format: The discussion of foreign and domestic policy will be divided into nine time segments approximately 10 minutes in length.

The moderator will ask an opening question, after which each candidate will have two minutes to respond. The moderator will use the balance of the time in the segment for a discussion of the question.

The two men are a study in contrasts. By the time Paul Ryan, now 42, was born in 1970, Joe Biden — nearly 70 — had graduated from college and law school, married, become a father, and entered politics. When Paul Ryan cast his first presidential ballot in 1988, the gaffe-prone Biden had voted in six presidential elections, run for president once, and was in his third six-year term as a U.S. senator.

TV Channels Broadcasting Live: ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, CNN, Fox News and MSNBC.

*Moderator Martha Raddatz has become nearly as much a topic of conversation as Congressman Paul Ryan and V.P.Joe Biden. The Daily Caller reports Barack Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of vice presidential debate moderator Martha Raddatz.

Obama later appointed Raddatz’ husband — Julius “Jay” Genachowski — to head the Federal Communications Commission. He and Obama were Harvard Law School classmates and members of the Harvard Law Review. The couple divorced in 1997. They have both since remarried to other people. More here.

  1. Observer says:

Here’s what Joe Biden said about Obama five short years ago:

  2. Maggie says:

Pretty funny video! Check out that look on Obama’s face!! For once, the nitwit Biden got it right.

  3. Doc says:

I am predicting that, while Biden’s reputation as a debater is pretty good…Paul Ryan’s gonna’ MOP TH’ FLOOR WITH THAT CLOWN…It’s gonna’ be another disgrace for th’ team that HAS NO GRACE…th’ jughead & th’ court jester…obama & biden…

    …just sayin’…

  4. Stanford says:

How does an obvious conflict of interest such as this get a pass? When the president comes to your wedding (even a former one) it is very noteworthy and recognizes the special relationship between this so called moderator and the Obama regime. Martha Raddatz should have been replaced as soon as this was known. If she had a shred of integrity, she should have divulged it herself and not accepted the assignment, but that’s obviously not how liberals operate. Truly dispicable!

    • Doc says:

COPY THAT STANFORD! But their arrogance & lack of character & integrety…& the fact that THEY KNOW how bad bozo-biden’s gonna’ get creamed tonight, they’ll take every advantage they can…

    • garvan says:

How does this conflict get a pass?

Simple: The Republicans on the Debate Commission, two of whom are Alan Simpson and Frank Fahrenkopf, are just doing what Republicans always do: Caving.

As Mary Matalin aptly pointed out years ago, the GOP is “the stupid party.”

Too harsh an assessment? Well, “stupid is as stupid does.”

Can you in your wildest dreams imagine the Democrats on the committee permitting even ONE conservative moderator?

If we keep the House, take back the White House and even take the Senate, it will be in spite of the GOP apparatus, not because of it.

  5. Fought For My Country says:

Joe Biden has admitted the middle class has been “buried” over the last four years. He and Barack Obama don’t have a record to run on or an action plan to put the country they’ve dismantled back on track. They have no desire to! You can support four more years of failed policies and reckless spending, or the Republican path leading to restoring America. If you are still on the fence, look in your children’s eyes before voting for the empty promises of Hope and Change again. They and their grandchildren will bear the brunt of the policies of this failed administration.

  6. Saguaro Sam says:

    • Seeing Red AZ says:

Thanks for the information, Sam. We’ve taken the liberty of using a bold type face to make this announcement an eye catcher.

  8. Gary says:

Will pass this information along to my list. Hope some will be able to attend. Thanks.

  9. Saguaro Sam says:

Just for fun, maybe we can find some pics of Biden from last week–before he went in to debate prep seclusion, and compare them to his face tonight. I’m thinking there will be evidence of at least a few units of Botox or some nip/tuck that you and I paid for.

    • PA in Phx says:

“Nip and tucks” take longer than a week to heal, Sam. Botox needs a few days to calm down, even out and for the injectee to get used to the sensation. But Biden did have much publicized hair transplants a number of years ago. Nothing wrong with trying to look and feel better. It just needs a bit of time than he’s had prepping. I hope he blunders big time!

  10. winona frontado says:

Martha raddatz is doing a terrible job as a moderator. She has let Biden take over the debate. She is obviously an Obama person. Biden is a complete Ass, then again he should have been elected president instead of Obama, he has put Obama to shame as far as knowledge is concerned.

  11. Doc says:

So,jack@$$ joe was arrogant, pompus & rude…but it wasn’t th’ shelacking from Ryan I’d hoped for. That sed, here’s this:

    I hope that infernal machine’s accurate…

  12. patriotmom says:

Didn’t watch the debate due to work, but heard some of it and then checked around the political blogs: basically everyone agrees that Ryan did a stellar job debating a rude, obnoxious old man who smirked and laughed at totally inappropriate times. The Dems are desperately spinning this but I think it will play out similar to Al Gore’s sighing- people didn’t like it and Ryan came across much more reasonable and in control.

    The GOP is already using Bidens buffoonery against him;

    Send it on!

  13. Saguaro Sam says:

Take a look at michellemalkin.com Biden’s performance was a recycle job, as she gives us a history lesson regarding Old Joe Smirky Malarkey.

Apparently, the Great One, Mark Levin, has assessed the situation thusly: Biden is off his meds!

  14. garvan says:

Biased Raddatz not only gave Babbling Biden two minutes more than Ryan, she also let him interrupt Ryan at critical times.

Thanks a lot, you stupid Republican jackasses on the Debate Commission!
