Obamanation on sequestration: He can’t have it both ways

BHO manufactured this crisis he now calls “a meat cleaver approach”

In the midst of the blame game and threats emanating from the White House regarding sequestration — or automatic spending cuts — set to kick in March 1, 2013, let’s remember one thing: The idea originated with Barack Obama.

He used the issue as a political hammer to force Republican agreement as part of The Budget Control Act of 2011, establishing the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction of 12 House and Senate members to deal with cuts of approximately $1.5 trillion dollars over 10 years. The bi-partisan committee, on which former Arizona Senator Jon Kyl was a member, failed in its mission of writing deficit-reduction legislation.

Obama vowed to trim the budget Nov. 21, 2011, when he said this regarding Congress and automatic spending cuts:

“My message to them is simple: No. I will veto any effort to get rid of those automatic spending cuts to domestic and defense spending. There will be no easy off ramps on this one.”

This is Obama this past Saturday, February 23, blaming Republicans:

  1. Not Fooled says:

Obama summed up our debt crisis best in January 2010 when he said “The major driver of our long-term liabilities…is Medicare and Medicaid and our health-care spending.”

Then just a few months later, Obama and his Congressional DemocRats added trillions of dollars in new health-care spending with Obamacare!! He must think we’re fools to believe anything he says.

Check out some of his statements “On The Issues” a go-to site:
    http://www.ontheissues.org/2012/Barack_Obama_Health_Care.htm

  2. VINOAZ says:

He has had it both ways and it will continue thanks to the so-called news media who lie and cover for him. They are far worse than Pravda ever thought of being. They are the “useful idiots”. Liberalism is a moral disorder.

  3. Frankly Speaking says:

Lying Obama says Republicans are to blame. The Republican dominated House has passed legislation to avoid sequestration, which calls for massive cuts to the defense budget. It’s the Senate, with a Democrat majority, that has refused to act. If Obama’s lips are moving, it’s a certainty he’s lying.

  4. Army Of One says:

Obama is too consumed with bowing to foreign despots and Muslim sultans, issuing executive orders and stockpiling ammo to care about our national defense. Similar to draft dodger Bill Clinton who wrote “I disdain the military,” and used officers as waiters at WH dinners, Obama wants us defenseless and vulnerable.

  5. eubykdisop says:

In the budget wars, no one is representing Conservatives. The “debate and discussion” ignores the elephants in the living room. Permit me to offer just one small example of what is NOT being addressed, even by Republicans.

“Outrage! US Gov’t Funding La Raza”

“According to a recent article in Human Events by Mike Piccione, the United States government is spending millions of dollars to subsidize the National Council for La Raza, a radical organization whose name literally translates as “The Race” in English and which advocates for open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens.”

“Mr. Piccione investigated La Raza tax returns and found that this organization receives over $5 million yearly in government grants. And what does La Raza do with this money? Well, Janet Murguia, who is President and CEO of La Raza, receives almost $400,000 yearly in salary. But, more importantly, La Raza spends close to $1million yearly on lobbying efforts.”

“In other words, the US government uses our tax dollars to fund La Raza so it can spend money lobbying our government for more of our tax money.”

    http://www.njcic.com/njcic-news/national-news/outrage-us-govt-funding-la-raza.htm

This is just one of countless Liberal programs being funded with our tax dollars. Who is talking about cutting these programs? No one!

    • Matt DeGennaro says:

Fascinating information, eubykdisop. This would make a good post for Seeing Red AZ to expand upon. I had no idea about tax dollars being funneled into this racist and anti-American organization.

      • eubykdisop says:

        Hi, Matt! :-)

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, Matt. You would fall over if you knew the whole story. Maybe I’ll post a few more that will make your eyeballs pop out of your head!

    • PeeJay says:

Of course we are not cutting programs and spending!, Nancy Pelosi told us very clearly that this country doesn’t have a spending problem, it has a “funding” problem. In other words, euby and us others are not paying enough in taxes. Yea, right Nance…….

      • eubykdisop says:

I think that Nancy has a few hardened arteries in her brain. She’s a couple of eggs short of a dozen! ;-)

  6. eubykdisop says:

Liberals want to compartmentalize “social” issues and “fiscal” issues. But social issues, with the Obama administration, are also fiscal issues!

“Stutzman Fights to End Federal Funding of Planned Parenthood”

    “Thursday, 10 January 2013″

“Forcing taxpayers to fund abortion providers is the furthest thing from ‘choice.’ During the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year, Planned Parenthood received more than $542 million in taxpayer money and performed 333,964 abortions.”

“While Washington’s $16 trillion debt climbs higher, the federal government should not continue to funnel hundreds of millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country.”

    http://www.americandailyherald.com/pundits/letters-from-congress/item/stutzman-fights-to-end-federal-funding-of-planned-parenthood

The direct funding for La Raza, which I mentioned in the above post, plus funding for the abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, total $547 million PER YEAR! That is more than half a billion dollars in tax payer dollars PER YEAR going to just two organizations implementing the “progressive” agenda for B. Hussein Obama.

    • Delilah says:

Euby, I consider all social issues fiscal issues. How do they get the money to give away? That is how I stopped support for one of our famous so-called fiscal conservatives from a start up blog when they kept telling me how fiscally conservative he was.

      • eubykdisop says:

I hear ‘ya, Delilah! They get the money by taking it out of our paychecks before we get them and by borrowing. The debt is then bought up by Communist China which uses the debt to leverage against us.

When it comes right down to it, there are few in Congress who are even willing to shine the light of day on where the money is going. Hint: overseas bankers!

Think we could cut this (pun intended)?

  8. Westnash says:

It is an outrage but unfortunately Grantwriters are the most prized employee in Phoenix and Washington DC. Our govts are out of control on spending and allowing all our tax dollars to be filtered back to groups via grants. You would also be shocked to see who get them on both sides in Phoenix and in Washington. The Republicans are as bad or worse than the democrats.

    • eubkdisop says:

Interesting that you don’t attack any of the spending on “progressive” organizations, like the ones I mentioned above, but you want to cut spending on the military and on securing our borders.

      “Westnash says:
      February 14, 2013 at 10:17 am
I would propose an immediate 10% cut in all military expenditures including salaries. All of us can get by on 9 out of 10…..the govt. can as well…it is nothing but would make a huge dent in the problem.”

      “Westnash says:

What I worry that the Secure Our Borders bunch really wants is to spend Billions more in hiring and fences which do nothing but increase the size of Govt.”

How about sharing with us some of the spending on Obama’s favorite progressive causes which you would cut, Wetnash?

    • eubykdisop says:

Interesting that you haven’t come up with any “progressive” groups to which you want to cut funding, Westnash, but you specifically want to cut funding for our military and funding to secure our borders.

  9. eubykdisop says:

Which of Obama’s pet “progressive” programs would you like to see cut, Westnash?

  10. eubykdisop says:

No one is talking about this. Of course, we couldn’t possibly even think about not sending money to Muslim and Arab countries to reduce our spending. That would be very uncivilized! Shhhh! Not a word!

“It’s All Your Money: Foreign Aid to Muslim/Arab nations”

    “by William LaJeunesse | May 27, 2011”

“While America’s standing in the Middle East couldn’t get much lower, you wouldn’t know it looking at the U.S. foreign aid budget. Of proposed U.S. assistance for 2012, almost two-thirds is earmarked for Muslim nations and one-third goes to Arab countries.”

“And while many Americans think most U.S. foreign aid goes to “humanitarian assistance” or food and medicine for the poor, an analysis shows 80% of our aid to Arab countries pays for police and the military. And despite the President’s speech last week calling for closer ties with Middle Eastern nations and fostering free market, democratic principles, just 5% of our aid to the region is dedicated to ‘economic development’.”

When the U. S. Embassy in Egypt is ransacked, what do you do? Send in the Marines? Not Obama! He had a different solution, using your tax dollars!

“The Scandal That Is Foreign Aid”

    “by Alfred S. Regnery 3 Oct 2012”

“Just two weeks after the US Embassy in Egypt was ransacked by terrorists and a band of Egyptian thugs, President Obama announced that he would provide Egypt’s new Muslim Brotherhood government with an emergency infusion of $450 million in US aid.”

A million here, a million there. Pretty soon it adds up to real money!

Napolitano at DHS wants it both ways also, preparing to cut Border Patrol salaries by 40% then warning about sequestration threatening national security.

    http://tucsonoutpost.blogspot.com/2013/02/napolitano-cries-wolf-only-shes-wolf.html

    • eubykdisop says:

Both the Border Patrol and ICE say that Napolitano is full of road apples. Furthermore, here is something we could cut instead of Border Patrol salaries.

“What Has The IMF Done With Our Money?”

      “January 26, 2011”

“Out of the IMF’s 187 member countries, U.S. taxpayers have the highest burden, providing over 17%, around $55 billion, of the IMF’s total funding.”

      http://www.freedomworks.org/news/what-has-the-imf-done-with-our-money

That was from 2011. It’s even more now. But the International Monetary Fund is one of those sacred cows that neither Democrats nor Republicans will touch. It’s always off the table when it comes to making cuts to reduce our debt. Why? Because the “New World Order” people want it! While the IMF continues to suck up billions of U. S. taxpayer dollars per year, Napolitano wants to cut Border Patrol salaries!

  13. eubykdisop says:

Here, according to the Congressional Research Service, is what the U. S. budgeted for only a few recipients of foreign aid in fiscal year 2011:

    Afghanistan ($4.10 billion)
    Pakistan ($1.8 billion)
    Haiti ($1.77 billion)
    Egypt ($1.55 billion)
    Iraq ($1.11 billion)
    Jordan ($843 million)
    Mexico ($757.7 million)
    Kenya ($687.7 million)
    Nigeria ($614.7 million)

Yes, you saw that right. $757,700,000.00 for Mexico in FY 2011! Tell me there’s nothing we can cut that won’t hurt Americans!

    • Westnash says:

I would cut a good portion of all of it, Euby. I would spend money on Mexico but in a different way and of course you managed to leave out Israel where I would cut a good portion as well. Israel is a prosperous country. I have been there Euby, have you? Its like going to California…but we continue to give it aid.

And your comment on funding to Progressive Groups…whoever they are…I would cut that as well. Cut off the government flow of money to all the pressure groups…let them raise their own.

      • Arizona Conservative Guy says:

        Westnash:
You say “Israel is a prosperous country….Its like going to California….but we continue to give it aid.”

A few major differences Westnash. Israel is the sole democracy in the Mideast. The nation is 1/19th the size of California, and is, in fact, one of the smallest nations on the face of the earth. With only about 8,000 sq. miles of land mass it is roughly twice the size of Rhode Island. Israel is 260 miles at its longest, has a 112-mile coastline, is 60 miles at its widest, and between 3 and 9 miles at its narrowest. The nation of Israel is surrounded by twenty-two hostile Arab/Islamic dictatorships that are 640 times her size and 60 times her population.

Any prosperity Israel has is despite being under constant assault. The land was barren before the Israelis made the desert bloom, built high tech industries, modern medical facilities and cultivated farms. Israel remains in a struggle for its very life. It is surrounded by nearly two dozen sworn enemy nations, some of whom have already tried several times to wipe it out of existence, and have vowed to do so. California, on the other hand is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on the west and Oregon, Nevada and Arizona on the north and east. It also abuts one foreign nation, Mexico, which is trying to invade it with illegal hordes, but hasn’t blown up school children, shopping centers and restaurants and routinely lobs bombs. I saw that when I visited with my church group. Did you miss the rockets during what sounds like your pristine visit to California East?

I’m not a fan of foreign aid–never have been–but if any is going to be given, I hope Israel gets it.
        PS Good show,euby!!

      • eubykdisop says:

        Thanks, Arizona Conservative Guy! ;-)

      • eubykdisop says:

Hey, Westnash, the timing of your rant about Israel is perfect. Is this like going to California?

ROFL! You took the bait, Westnash, LOL!

I deliberately left out aid to Israel because I knew, from your past comments, that you would jump on that. It fits with your support for Chuck Hagel as Secretary of Defense. Here is someone else who supports Hagel and has an attitude toward Israel, just like you.

    “Farrakhan Endorses Hagel”

“At the Nation of Islam Annual Saviours’ Day Convention, keynote speaker Louis Farrakhan took his usual Anti-Semitic tone with a current affairs twist. Farrakhan endorsed Chuck Hagel for Secretary of Defense saying Hagel’s controversial “Jewish lobby” comments were a good thing that will save America from war for Israel.”
