Illegals get $3.5 million boost from Catholic Bishops

Illegal aliens benefit from Church’s generosity

The headline from the website of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, touts a grant of “Nearly $1 Million to Make Comprehensive Immigration Reform a Reality.

The opening paragraph declares, “The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), the official domestic anti-poverty agency of the U.S. bishops, has approved special grants totaling nearly $1 million to mobilize Catholics on behalf of comprehensive immigration reform and to prepare Catholic institutions for the prospects of reform legislation.”

It’s not until the final sentence in the article before it is revealed that with these recently announced grants, CCHD will have committed more than $3,500,000 in the past year in support to grassroots organizations promoting comprehensive immigration reform — better known as amnesty.

If you care about the future of our country, you might want to let the collection plate pass by in the future.

Interesting that Catholics, and Mormons as well, are eager to support amnesty just to add to their church rolls. Many friends have told me that their respective churches do not see any money coming in from illegals- they just take the freebies and require services in Spanish.

An excellent observation about the Catholic and LDS Churches, patriotmom. As regards the money, they are counting on the high birth rate to pay off down the road! More kids in more prosperous America will ultimately mean more money for them. They are in competition over it.

  2. Vince says:

The plates and baskets don’t need the money! The church is wealthy beyond what we can fathom, even with the payouts because of the perverted child molesting priests.

  3. VINOAZ says:

Have been passing up the collection plate for years. I do donate to faith based organizations, but only where I know the money goes to help poor Americans and the bishops get no cut. The bulk of my donations go to support our military and veterans. There are lots of solid honest organizations. Liberalism is a mental and moral disorder which unfortunately has polluted many churches.

  4. says:

    Error in the title—BILLION???? $3,500,00.

    • Seeing Red AZ says:

What a giant whoops on our part. What a great catch on yours! Thanks a million…billion, BPaluch!

  5. Observer says:

Will the bishops also pay the wages of the American citizen workers displaced from their jobs by these new entrants into the already depressed job market? They can surely afford to.

  6. LD 10 PC says:

Mega millions? Have you ever visited the Vatican? Nuff said.

  7. Teller Of Truth says:

John McAmnesty has switched religions at least a couple of times. He was Episcopalian and now says he’s a Baptist. The Catholic church seems like a perfect fit for him.

  8. Delilah says:

I am Catholic, but they will not get a dime from me.

  9. Orion says:

Think of the parishioners on tight budgets who squeeze out what they can to support the church. I wonder if they know how their money is being spent.

  10. ConservativAZThinker (@ConservativAZ) says:

How many people observe how freely the Catholic church interjects its views, money, power into politics? Conversely, our homespun evangelical churches barely whisper under the pulpit against any social issue regardless of how indecent–that includes abortion.

  11. Arizona Conservative Guy says:

I was raised Catholic. I’m a political conservative. The two entities are definitely incompatible.

  12. Westnash says:

The Catholic Church has been a poor steward of all the money it has raised from its members….from paying off huge lawsuits concerning pedophile priests to this. These churches also do good work but a hard look should be taken at their tax status for all their property.

ROFL! This is the most hilarious post you have yet made, Westy, LOL! The article is about the Church providing money in support of “comprehensive immigration reform”. Where do YOU stand on immigration issues?

      “Westnash says:

What I worry that the Secure Our Borders bunch really wants is to spend Billions more in hiring and fences which do nothing but increase the size of Govt.”

And you had this to say about Sheriff Joe Arpaio:

      “Westnash says:

Interesting that when you have someone like Joe who continues to hang on…you have a real vacuum behind them. Their ego just wont let them develop a successor. Joe should retire soon and develop a strong successor…but I am afraid hubris has set in long ago.”

And to top it all off…

      “Westnash says:

I would be in favor of Arizona requiring Spanish (for legal students of course).”

What should we teach the “illegal” students, Westnash? Arabic?

      “Westnash says:
      March 10, 2013 at 11:40 am
I hope many of our intelligence officials are fluent in Arabic.”

      • Westnash says:

And I could post a thread where Euby calls Joe McCarthy a Great American! HAHAHAHAHAHA

      • eubykdisop says:

Hey, Westy, if you want to roll on McCarthy again, let’s go! Senator McCarthy was a great American, a decorated combat veteran and did, in fact, expose Communists who had infiltrated the federal government. The Venona files and the Moynihan Commission proved him to be right.

Like all Liberals, you hate McCarthy because he exposed Commies and Pinkos. But hey, if you want to rumble on Senator McCarthy again, bring it on!

  13. Hagar says:

The 12th Article of Faith of the LDS Church reads:

“We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”

There must be a revision coming soon for this one.

  14. Veritas Vincit says:

I suppose Catholics and Mormons have never read the passage in which Jesus admonishes his followers to “… render to Caesar that which belongs to Caesar and render to God that which is God’s” Immigration policy is the domain of Caesar not God. Both churches should concern themselves with salvation of souls and not social justice.
