Weekend reading guaranteed to make you smarter

Amnesty lies revealed

Conservative columnist Thomas Sowell is a favorite for a reason. His brilliant mind clarifies and distills issues that have been analyzed and debated ad infinitum. Here’s Sowell’s take on “Comprehensive” immigration reform, which he argues “serves the interests of politicians who like to be on both sides of a controversial issue, and it serves the interests of those foreigners who want to game the system in the United States, at the expense of the American people. But it does not serve the interests of American society.”

On the issue of anchor babies, Sowell minces no words: “If nothing else, putting a legal end to the “anchor baby” racket might suggest to the American public that they were regarded in Congress as something more than expendable suckers who can be mollified with rhetoric.”

Today’s recommended reading is the incisive, icing-on-the-amnesty-cake commentary Immigration Sophistry to bring you up to speed on the truth behind what we are being sold by the disreputable “Gang of 8.”  Sowell hits all the glib distortions being fed as facts to the American people. For additional background, read Immigration Gambles: Part II and Immigration Gambles.

Here in the border state of Arizona, we are particularly vulnerable — even more so since two of the gangsters are Arizona senators. The deceptive John McCain is leading this massive sham as well as the ultimate destruction of the Republican Party, along with his open-borders protégé Jeff Flake.

Let’s not focus on Flake and McCain to the exclusion of our esteemed Representatives in the House.

“Gosar, Salmon, Schweikert on immigration reform”

    “May 6, 2013”

“At the same time, there is no benefit to keeping 11 million illegal immigrants trapped in the shadows. In fact, it is in our country’s interest to know who they are and where they live.”

“Reforming our immigration system to address the status of the 11 million people in our country illegally should focus on normalizing their legal status without access to federal benefits or a special pathway to citizenship.”

    • American Dad says:

They are all colluders, but the focus SHOULD remain on McCain and Flake for their “Gang of Eight” leadership roles as they engage in what they call a “bi-partisan” effort, which actually results in the undoing of the rule of law as well as the destruction of the Republican Party. These at least 25 million newly amnestied illegals will be bonded to the Democrat Party. For those who wonder what are these so-called Republicans are thinking, it’s worth remembering that ‘Maverick” McCain had to be pulled kicking and screaming into the Republican party when he first ran for congress. Flake is a Libertarian, but knew he couldn’t win political office wearing that label. They are both political opportunists.

No, American Dad, the focus SHOULD be on BOTH the Senate AND the House. Why?

“House Immigration ‘Gang of Eight’ Finalizing Own Overhaul”

“By John Parkinson, Apr 15, 2013”

“As the Gang of Eight in the U.S. Senate prepares to introduce its proposal for comprehensive immigration overhaul Tuesday, Rep. Xavier Becerra, a key player in the House’s own select group of lawmakers working to fix the country’s immigration system, says lawmakers in the lower chamber are finalizing their proposal as well.”

Here are some interesting math examples, probably from Common Core:

    Obamao + McAmnesty + McFlake + McRubio + McGrahamnesty + McMcConnell = AMNESTY

    Obamao + McBoehner + McRyan + McGosar + McSalmon + McSchweikert = AMNESTY

Bigger government (fed, state, local) + more welfare + higher taxes + more debt = AMNESTY

    AMNESTY = collapse of US

(Can you tell which are R’s and which are D’s?)

In 2007 when McBush/McAmnesty AMNESTY was shot down in flames by the American people, they were concerned with bringing 12 – 15 million hidden voters out of the shadows. We know they are still pouring in by the thousands daily, and we know that Obamao isn’t deporting them, so how could it now be only “11 million” potential voters?

See, this new math is very frustrating. But don’t forget, the House does have its own Gang of 6 who are fighting against AMNESTY. Just don’t look for any AZ names on their team roster.

    God bless America.

I just finished reading what SRAZ correctly calls the “icing-on-the-amnesty-cake commentary,” by Thomas Sowell. It is, without a doubt, the best I have read on the topic of granting amnesty to illegals. For this article alone, Sowell should win a prize! I’m sending the link to this out to the thinkers on my mailing list, with an advisory to call their senators!.

  4. Maggie says:

Thanks to Seeing Red AZ for this post and my deep gratitude to Thomas Sowell for spelling this unbelievable duplicity out so clearly. We are being taken to the cleaners by our own elected Republicans who have shown themselves to more rightly be called “Republicrats.” No wonder Kyl and McCain were so keen on getting Jeff McFlake elected.

  5. patriotmom says:

Thomas Sowell is an excellent and gifted writer, making points logically and succinctly. I have distributed his terrific article to me email list, including the liberals. Stopping this current effort to provide illegals with citizenship needs to be stopped, but I do not believe there will be much will in the Dem controlled Senate to do so. Our hope will need to be in the House, but only if enough Americans make themselves heard on this issue.

  6. CD 9 says:

Next time get behind someone who can win, like Wil Cardin. Quit trying to make a Senator out of a newbie who can not raise any monies or tell you they are supporting the constitution, or they talk about principles but have none. Or quit listening to the million $$$$ ads by the same people election after election. I only hope someone who can win runs against McCain in 2016, but by then the damage will be done by 6 more years of the old fool and his side kick.

  7. JAKE says:

The article in the Arizona rag tells the tale concerning a woman who is separated from her family and the hard life she lives in Mexico without her family. Of course, she and her supporters blame her plight on the immigration laws of the United States. The article supports the idea that if an illegal is caught and deported, the laws should be set aside so that the families can be reunited in the United States. According to the anchor babies argument, the babies were born in the United States so isn’t it logical that since they were born here the family should all be together here. Why not send them to the country where the parents were born? This would make more sense since the parents are responsible for the children. At least that’s what for most of us still believe.

    • eubykdisop says:

If we followed that “logic”, we could never put a criminal with a family in jail!
